When I came to Laura a year ago, I was experiencing digestive problems (stomach heaviness, foul stools, bad breath, the feeling of acidity in my mouth), mental fog (depression?), lack of focus, anxiety, chronic fatigue (especially after meals), poor quality of sleep and a chronic skin condition (dermatitis). Before I started, I believed that I was eating fairly healthy (I ate everything, mostly cooked from scratch and organic, colorful food) and worked out regularly (stretching, weights, cardio about 3 times a week). There are so many good things I want to say, I don't even know where to start. Okay, so when I first met Laura, I thought I was relatively healthy, except for my thyroid, some sleep problems, low energy, water retention, brain fog, weight gain, and my feet were ALWAYS freezing, plus I have recurring mysterious eczema. None of it was debilitating, so I just lived with it. My main complaint was that I was taking thyroid medication but had all the same symptoms. The more I work with Laura the more she is teaching me how all these systems are connected, related, and regulated by incredibly complicated systems of hormones and reactions. All the foods we eat have direct effects on our body systems (duh) but there are SO MANY other factors to consider like genetics, gut flora, sleep, hormones, circadian rhythm, sunlight, mental state, stress, and more. These things have subtle but direct effects and Laura is a friggin genius at helping you tease apart these insanely complicated cause and effect relationships. I am not going to lie, it takes discipline and time to systematically isolate the factors that cause negative reactions in the body. Most western doctors do not have the time or patience (or intelligence) to even attempt this kind of ACTUAL REAL healing. They just give you a pill that masks the symptoms. What Laura does is work with you to identify and remove the factors that are causing the ill health in the first place. She has a fantastic knowledge of supplements to support your body's systems (hormonal, structural, ph, digestive and more) and she works on identifying and reversing damage, removing pathogens, parasites, infections, boosting deficient nutrients, healing, and truly optimizing. She is also great at not telling you what to do, but giving you a roadmap and then incredible assistance while you experiment and analyze the results together. Luckily, she sends you a concrete protocol and really yummy recipes. Slowly you learn all this fantastic information about your body and what it truly needs to be healthy, what truly makes you feel better and have more energy and eliminates your symptoms and eventually, miraculously, over time, makes you literally AGE SLOWER. Yeah, that's right kids. If you take really good care of your body and protect it and heal the damage that we all do to ourselves just by normal living, you will stay healthier for years longer than people who don't make the effort and live hard and eat whatever and use themselves up. It seems obvious now, but at the beginning I sort of thought some people had a better genetic hand and there was nothing i could do. DO NOT JUST LIVE WITH HEALTH COMPLAINTS. They are your body trying to tell you something. They can be symptoms of a larger more subtle and complicated imbalance that will eventually, slowly wear you down. If you are considering working with Laura, do it. Please do it. She really knows her stuff and you will get results. It might take a few months, but think of it like planting a garden. You have to plan, remove the leftover crap, plant, water, wait, trim, and adjust things. But pretty soon you start to see changes. Some symptoms get better immediately, some take time, but every time I have a breakthrough or notice that I have subtle improvement I know that I have gained knowledge towards improving the quality of my life. Laura is like having a really smart guide as you build a guidebook for how to best live in your own particular body. You get to keep that for your whole life. It is so valuable. I came to Laura for guidance and direction to lose weight and get on a healthy eating plan. She is so well informed about all aspects of nutrition and supplementation and gave me excellent advice and guided me through a 21 day weight loss plan. I have had a lifetime full of IBS constipation, acid reflux, and lethargy. I am 32 years old and my earliest memories are about having trouble with IBS constipation symptoms.
