I believe side effects and drug interactions were adding to the problem. So I took a chance and contacted a fellow integrative medicine doctor of Dr. Burkhart's, Dr. Jessica Madden. I explained all the symptoms I was having and how I would often end up in the ER with acute lower abdominal pain. Although the trip from Bakersfield, where I was living at the time, was still a bit far I decided to contact her and set up an appointment. First you told a story full of falsehoods that totally negated my experience. Basically proving my points! Then for a moment, you seemed to be respecting my experience, finally saying, "Your concerns about my communication and approach are valuable, and I'm committed to refining how I connect with patients." But you deleted that today and instead put this "It is unfortunate that we were not able to find common ground and connect despite my sincere attempts -- this was a first for me." Ah again you're the hero and my feedback and sincere attempts are invisible. And was common ground the point? Not your skill at what you promise? Or caring about the patient's actual experience, not just your story about who you think you are? And I bet this has happened before. You make it hard to be heard. Which was basically my point. You worked hard to make this something wrong with me. I asked for what I needed at the session and you brushed that aside. You didn't see it. Oh, I'll add another thing that felt uncomfortable for me was you charging my credit card with $585 when I made the appointment, three weeks in advance. I've NEVER had a doctor or healer do that. I got the bill before the appointment. I realize now it put me in a position where I couldn't just end the appointment, and we didn't have a moment at the end to discuss the amount. It felt like you were taking care of yourself, not your patient. As I said in my original post, I tried two ways afterwards to communicate my experience of our session to you. A memo, giving examples. And on the phone, during the followup call. As I shared here, I felt my feedback totally blown off by you. And so I shared my experience with others here. I've sought to be fair and factual. And really - won't this help you avoid having patients that have needs like mine? Meanwhile, I met with another healer today who easily did what you did not. Welcomed me, told me the plan in advance, mirrored what she heard me say, asked what I needed, behaved consistent with her described values. It was a thing of beauty, and reminded me what a healthy dynamic feels like. So I'm good. I hope you do take this as an opportunity to learn. There is no waiting for her in her office and it is a calm, quiet environment. Most effective bodywork and healing I've received following my spinal cord injury and broken back…read more I am very fortunate and grateful to have had Jill Goldreyer recommended to me shortly after my release from the hospital following a severe motorcycle accident and injury. Jill has been extensively helpful in facilitating my recovery and helping me with my severe pain management. My hospital treatment included a spinal fusion of 5 vertebrae, with supplemental posterior titanium rods screwed into the spine. This in itself was/is extremely painful and felt consistently invasive and debilitating to my healing body. Jill helped me come to terms with this operation and new hardware, and found non-invasive ways to address and soothe the intensity of the pain. I was also experiencing deep trauma, bruising and swelling in a majority of my body, as well as unrelenting nuerogenic pain from the waist down.
