The gym offers a lot. I am originally from Washington, DC. I would take a yoga class and everytime I would attend it was $30. You could spend $240 easily just on that. At this gym , I take yoga , Zumba , weight lifting, dance fitness, and water aerobics. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week a minimum of 2 hours a day. All of this is less than $60 a month. And now , I will be bringing my toddler grandson with me and for a small additional fee there is a very attractive day care. The employees are relaxed , supportive, and very interested in you becoming a more healthy and fit person. The broad selection this gym offers definitely out weigh the minor hiccups that you will encounter with running any type of business. read more

Giving a 1 to their rehab because 0 stars isn't an option. My Ortho has contacted them 4 times in 2 weeks. Each follow-up call to HealthPlex has been a denial that the referral was ever sent. If the attitude of their scheduler is so apathetic, I wonder what their therapists are like? read more

Spouse and I joined for the reason of swim lessons for my grandson. Customer service and communication from the facility is not great at all. We continued and tried enjoying the facility due to the swim lessons. Swim lessons could have been much better that what was received, taught and shown. As a beginner you start with basic concept of water safety and what is expected. This wasn't provided and I questioned, however because my grandson age (7) it was ASSUMED and EXPECTED of him to know already. He was given some basics and because he enjoyed the class we stayed. However, there is NO/zero communication from the facility regarding the happenings and going on. How would I know what's going on at the HealthPlex if you don't provide that communication to me...a member. Maybe email?? text? US mail?? I was informed today "most people" do not want email, text or US mail by the director of the facility. How dare you categorized me as "most people while you continue to receive monthly my membership fee and why be concerned that I'm not there monthly...you're getting paid!!! I highly suggest expressed communication with its members and better professionalism from staff. read more

I signed up on and off for several years and every year it get worse nothing seems to be working and always out of order. Now because I signed up part time and I show up a little early they had me sit in a chair like I am a child waiting until 12:00 to check in Oh and by the way my class starts at 12:00 so I can set up my weights or go to locker or even use the bathroom until 12:00pm on the dot But its ok if everything is not working ie spa or jacuzzi or even Mens locker room .At one time it was a good gym but now with New Directors it's a laugh I will not be sitting by any door waiting anymore ! This is a two star gym. The staff and rules are why. The staff members at the front desk are lazy af. When a member walks up( 5 of them behind the counter) it could be 5 mins or more before someone steps up to help. Since Corey is gone there is nobody greeting members by name. They act like their job is to stand behind the counter and ignore ppl. I'm surprised they get pay checks if I owned this establishment I would run the cameras and see just how much time and money is being wasted on the staff at the front. I love this gym, it is peaceful and quiet with the best workout machines. The staff is nice, always fresh towels. Workout classes, healthy cooking classes, member appreciation breakfast lunch and dinners. The class instructors are great. The yoga instructor Andres is my favorite class I have been going for years and it feels like family in that class. Mrs. Delbera takes care of the gym, she is so sweet and also feels like family. My son attends the daycare and all of the women are wonderful childcare providers, my son really took to Mrs. Cassandra and he ask me about her which gives me motivation to go to the gym. The membership is definitely worth the price, it's a luxurious comfortable gym that does not get overcrowded which is always a plus! read more

Recently moved to Fayetteville from London and I wanted to join a gym much-like my old one if possible which offered 'les mills classes' specifically body pump, body combat and spinning with an indoor pool + sauna & steam room as well as the exercising machines of course.. This place has all of it!!Very happy that it has variety of group classes (les mills body pump, body combat, yoga, Taichi) and More importantly the gym & group class instructors are amazing, the gym + pool is never too crowded. There's a track if you tire of the treadmill .. Cannot comment on massages they offer as as I haven't tried them yet. read more

It's as good as they say! New to town from Seattle. Staff was friendly. They said hi and knew almost every members name. Yes it's pricey but you have great amenities. Laundry service ($16 with a locker ) pool, sauna, Doctor referral therapy sessions. Drink bar, basketball court, classes, indoor track, trainers, a great child care program with (it looks like medical staff. They're in scrubs). It definitely seems like it doesn't get crowded. Moved to Fayetteville for a few months for an internship for school. Was hesitant about Healthplex's prices when looking online for a gym, but after joining, I had zero regrets. Although memberships are a little higher than the average gym, you get what you pay for. This is a very clean, notable facility. There are an abundance of cardio machines; I've never had to wait (even during 'busy' hours) for any machine I wanted. There are also MANY instructed classes to chose from each day throughout the week. I did the BodyPump class 2-3x/week and Rachel, one of the instructors for the class, was amazing. In addition, there's a pool with a couple lap lanes, full basketball court, and a track. The locker rooms are very spacious and clean. The list goes on and on... Best gym I've joined and sad I have to move away and leave it! Be sure to at least go tour the place! read more

Being a military transplant I was thrilled to find this place. It's AMAZING. I guess it's expensive...if you pay for it and don't actually go. They have more cardio machines (with personal tv screens and phone/iPod chargers) than any other gym I've ever belonged to and the classes are awesome. They have scheduled times that work for everyone and the instructors are truly knowledgable. This place is more than just a 'gym' being that it's operated by the health care system. They have an on staff nutritionist who's lovely and always happy to give free advice. The Childcare is top notch...no teenagers on cell phones and TVs running cartoons the whole time. They actually engage your kids...I love it for my 2 year old son. Everything about this place rocks and I will never go anywhere else as long as we live here. read more

On Friday, the 13th of May I had a partial hysterectomy performed at Cape Fear Valley's Short Stay Facility. The care taken to make me comfortable and keep me calm was simply amazing. The nurses were wonderful, their bedside manner the best I have ever seen and for a person having surgery for the first time they made me feel as though I was there top priority. I absolutely love the new gown by Bair Paws with the ability to keep yourself warm or cool depending on your nature. It was comfortable and I never got cold as I have in the past in most hospitals. Dr. Jerome Ponder and his staff also deserve to be commended on their procedure and the care they gave me during my surgery. They were very personable and treated me with the utmost respect being sure to explain things before they happened and taking care to keep me comfortable through the entire process. While I was in recovery with a short hospital stay I must first say that the new section of Cape Fear Valley Health Systems is amazing. The rooms are big and bright, you don't feel as though you're locked away in a cupboard as I had in the past when staying there. I felt completely comfortable the entire time, the nursing staff were phenomenal in their care and consideration and I honestly believe it was the best and quietest hospital stay I have ever had. I felt more as though I were in a five star hotel instead of a hospital. The staff were just that amazing. I would love to mention all the names of the wonderful people I encountered while staying there but I only have a few. First and foremost is Dr. Ponder and his staff, they reside at All American OBGYN and I can honestly say that I believe them to be the absolute best in that practice. Secondly, I have to mention my wonderful nurses during my stay and I hope they receive some kind of special recognition for all their hard work and dedication to the hospital and their patients. Their names are as follows: Tabatha - RN Jessica Sutton - CNA Maggie - CNA Emily - RN Sharon - RN Ying - RN If there are more I have missed I apologize but you know who you are and I am indebted to you for all you did for me while I underwent my stay at Cape Fear. I must also commend the nutrition staff as they were excellent and very informative of the food that was available to me and even said if there was something I'd rather have they'd see to it that it was made. This is the kind of service and consideration that makes people happy and I can honestly say I was both amazed and astounded at the perfection they all displayed. Thank you! read more

I have been a member here off and on since 2005. I was away for almost 2 years because I thought the grass might be greener when Omni opened up. Was I ever wrong! Omni was terrible and I left before my contract was up. You know the saying, " You get what you pay for" well this is definitely true Healthplex is more on the higher end compared to the other fitness centers in Fayetteville ( $58), but I believe you get every pennies worth. Great front desk staff that greet you every time you come in. The gym is 2 levels and is very open and bright. It has a full basketball court and 2 pools ( big and small) They have a huge selection of group fitness class to choose from and the instructors are fabulous. They have Yoga and Pilates too. The Yoga classes are phenomenal! Large spacious locker rooms with sauna, showers, and hot tub. The childcare center is the best you will find in Fayetteville. Since Healthplex is a part of Cape Fear Valley Hospital, the childcare center is under more strict guidlines then other places. Which means the standards are much higher. You will not find 15 year olds texting on their phone while watching 10 kids. In fact during the summer they have crafts and activities for the kids. They also have weekly " exercise" classes for kids, which when my son was young enough for it, he always had a fun time. If you can afford a couple extra dollars, don't waste your time anywhere else, just come straight here. read more

I workout here when I visit my parents in Fayetteville. It looks like the kind of place I could see Ivan Drago running on the treadmill hooked up to a bunch machines calculating his destroy you to break you ratio. Sadly though the reality is that it's mostly just for old people or disabled people or old disabled people (at least from 9am to 4pm). They wander around the 1/10 of a mile indoor track upstairs like extras in The Walking Dead on AMC. Theres points in the afternoon when you can catch a surprisingly inspiring game of 65 and older guys playing pick-up basketball, full court. I tried out a few of the other local gyms and they looked rather dark and unkept compared to the Healthplex's bright rooms and open aired lofts. They are expensive by any standards at almost 60 bucks a month but it certainly feels like you get your money's worth. The amenities are top notch and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The place makes me feel like if I were training for the Summer Olympics it would be my headquarters. Weekend hours are a bit short and their smoothies aren't winning any awards but they make up for it where it counts, equipment, machines, locker rooms, flat-screens, swimming pools, educated staff, basketball courts with scoreboard, weights, group classes (dying to try the Les Mills Body Pump), security guards, indoor track, etc, etc. If you got the cash and you're gonna actually go more than twice a month, it's totally worth it. read more

Excellent gym. Best I have ever belonged to. Some say it's a bit pricey, but for those of us who REALLY USE IT, it's not pricey at all. See you there four days a week! That means it's only $2.50 a visit. Can't beat that, which is even cheaper than the one off Cliffdale where you can pay "per piece."
