I was lucky enough to get a last minute appointment the same day. The receptionist is always kind and welcoming every time I call/come in. Mya did a full face wax and it was painless and quick. My face went from looking like my father to a woman! I also made a comment on how I had had a horrible experience on getting my eyebrows tinted at another salon previously and she kindly offered to do a tint for me. She took her time and was very attentive while she did my brows. They came out absolutely perfect!! She also made sure I was happy with what I had which the other salon didn't even bother to check I love coming to this place, the workers and the atmosphere. Five stars are not enough. If I could give 10 stars I would. After a bad experience at another salon, I was very hesitant to have another Brazilian wax done but decided to give Healthy Skin a try. I. Am SO glad I did! Courtney was my esthetician and she is AMAZING. Yes, that needs to be yelled! She is that great. She made me feel like we had been friends for years and I was so comfortable. Her personality, complete openness, an lack of judgement makes it so easy to relax during the treatment. Also, my Brazilian wax was immaculate. Courtney is meticulous and will get every last hair you have. She also somehow does this without pain. Yes, there is the slight sting of the wax coming off but it lasts a millisecond and is gone. I cannot recommend her enough and will be a life long client of hers. Also, everything was very clean and upscale. Everyone I spoke with was very polite. I showed up early so I had time. they have some super yummy chocolates too that melt in your mouth, it smells amazing in there, by far the best spa I have been to! It is SUCH a relief to find a professional spa in Abilene. At my first appointment I was welcomed warmly and offered a glass of wine or water. The atmosphere is inviting and calming. If I could give this place ten stars I would. I walked in and was instantly calmed by the peaceful music quietly playing. The receptionist was on the phone booking an appointment and greeted me with a smile. I filled out the paperwork that was waiting for me on the counter. When the receptionist was off the phone I was offered a glass of wine, which is why I wish I could give this place more than just five stars. I was taken back to the room and my masseuse came in shortly after. She had a variety of essential oils and I was thrilled to have the lavender-chamomile. Needless to say, I am still in heaven from my hour long massage and appreciated Anne's (my masseuse) tips on stretches I can do at home. I will be going back very, very, very soon. read more

My first time at ANY day spa and the experience was FANTASTIC! The atmosphere is extremely relaxing! It smelled wonderful and upon entering, the front desk receptionist offered me a beverage. I chose water and it was delicious: infused with natural lemon, lime, and strawberries! When my esthetician came to get me, she was very polite and offered me a tour of the spa since it was my first time there. The place is small (but has a very intimate, "homey" feel), beautiful, and EXTREMELY clean! Gavi was my esthetician (sorry if I misspelled it) and she was AWESOME! She gave me a heating "blanket" to place over myself (on top of my robe) to help open my pores for my first time Brazilian waxing. She also put lavender oil on the bottoms of my feet to help me relax. (So fancy!) She was very willing to answer all my questions and always informed me of what she was going to do and how it would feel before she did it. Of course, my first waxing was painful but Gavi made me feel so relaxed, and encouraged me the whole time, that my pain didn't feel as bad as I thought it would. We talked the whole time about family, friends, waxing, etc. and had lots of good laughs! She never seemed to be rushing through the process and took her time to make sure she had removed all the hairs. Gavi made my first Brazilian wax experience great! I liked this place immediately upon walking in. Complementary chocolate? Alcohol? Tea? Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to go to work right after getting waxed, so I didn't drink--I would have otherwise lol. I had a Brazilian wax done with Gavie according to my online booking appointment history. She was so cool, easy to talk to, very considerate of the best way to wax where I was comfy. Brazilian wax is kind of an intimate experience so, you have to be comfortable and she definitely made me feel comfortable. She was also very meticulous and went in with tweezers after, which is awesome. Next time, I'll schedule way before work so I don't feel like I have to rush my esthetician lol. When I first drove up I wasn't sure that I was in the right place as the salon is located in a random house on a sparsely populated road. It was very pleasant and relaxing when I went in and I was offered some water and there was lots of chocolate around. =) The owner is also the waxer and is extremely knowledgeable about her field - from both the technical aspect and the scientific end of what she is doing (the biology of the skin and her product's effects on it). She does a great job and is fun to talk to while she is tearing hair off of your body. The prices for waxing tend to vary on how much work they have to do - completely cool. They use the much superior blue hard wax instead of the yellow wax that you usually get with eyebows and such - MUCH less ingrowns. I'll head over sometime for a massage too. read more

I am getting married later this year and have been looking for a good spa to "treat" myself to some routine skincare maintenance. I hit the jackpot when I came across Healthy Skin via another Yelp review. My facial was 60+ minutes long with extractions, massage, the works, and it only cost me $85 ($105 with tip). What a find! Gavi, my aesthetician, was wonderful -- very personable but also aware of the customer's needs. As a type-A, stressaholic/workaholic, I'm usually unable to relax during spa treatments. I also have fragrance-sensitive skin, so facials can actually cause more damage than repair if done improperly. Healthy Skin uses Eminence organic skin care products with all-natural ingredients, so I don't have to worry about breakouts. Also, the facial technique Gavi used was relaxing and effective but not aggressive, so I was able to unwind and enjoy the treatment. The spa, itself, is small, but the environment is definitely one of relaxation -- a true hidden gem! I arrived approximately five minutes prior to my appointment to fill out some first-time paperwork and was out the door about 75 minutes after my appointment time. Overall, this facial was better than many I've experienced in some of the better spas in Atlanta, Ga. I've already booked my appointment for next month, and I'll be trying Gavi for a brow wax next. read more

What a great Spa! We went on Nov 19 for a couples massage for our anniversary and they did not disappoint.... The atmosphere is wonderful and VERY clean! The owner and staff are nice and welcoming. They told me that I missed an appointment, so they were not going to honor my certificate. No where in their web page nor on the certificate states that they can refuse to honor certificates, less give reasons. This people stole my friend's money, like it was nothing and cheated me out of my birthday present. There are several other places in Abilene that offer the same type of services and at lower prices. An hour massage cost from 40-50 dollars in those other places at $65 at this place, and on top of higher prices, dishonest business. I really do not even want to give one star, but no other choice. read more
