This modality of massage is great if you have sciatica. I walked pain free for 4 days for the first time since last June.

Ewa is the one of the best physical therapists I've ever come across - and the only one who's…read morereally been able to help me at all with the chronic pain issues I've got from several sources. I was a little skeptical at first because the name sounded a bit funky, but it's actually Ewa's initials (Ewa Zaborosky) - and turns out to be a great predictor, in a way, as well as a great marketing device. This was indeed "easy" rehab - as these things go. Ewa has a wealth of knowledge of different sources of physical (and balance) problems and solutions, and a kind and gentle way about her that has been hugely helpful, unlike some of the "drill sargeant" types I've seen before. She has a very lighthearted and playful sense of humor that always brightened the day. Most importantly, she actually got me restrengthened without aggravating other problems, which is really saying something - and helped me tremendously with the balance issues. The exercise portion of her work is primarily Pilates-focused, which is a marvelous system for both athletes and regular people of all ages, but she also brings in many other techniques. This is not "sports medicine" PT that looks like typical commercial gyms, and is thus much more helpful for those with issues like arthritis, along with strokes and various other nonorthopedic problems, but even injured athletes would benefit tremendously, since that system was initially developed for elite dancers. For those times when the kinks just won't work themselves out, and early in the course of therapy before physical exercise is appropriate, Ewa is exceptionally skilled in hands-on techniques, and has a marvelous articulating table that really helps keep the pressure off the bad parts and keep everything at angles that work best. She has truly got magic hands, and a range of other soft tissue modalities that together seem to just smooth away pain and stiffness. She holds a PhD in physical therapy (I hadn't even known such a thing existed!), and is always going to different continuing education classes, so you are always assured that she is up to date on the latest. Sue is also a very skilled therapist who was equally helpful in other ways, and Iona, the receptionist, and Jeff, the fitness trainer, round out the regular crew, all of whom are always just terrific and as nice as can be. They also offer private Pilates lessons and a monthly membership that allows ongoing use of the facilities once discharged from formal PT, which is quite a bargain considering how few local gyms even allow access to the Pilates equipment at all without signing up for expensive classes, which, once you know what you're doing, are just not necessary all the time.

I was admitted to Serenity Knolls in June of 2014. I haven't had a drink since. During my 28 days…read moreat "The Knolls" I was given the tools necessary to begin a life free of alcohol and drugs. The counselors were understanding and knowledgeable. My assignments were based on the 12 steps and I completed the first three steps during the four week stay. The groups were designed to educate the clients on the disease of chemical dependency. Families visited and participated in their loved ones recovery and were invited to keep coming back afterwards at no additional cost. The aftercare program at Serenity Knolls is a great way to stay connected after leaving the center. I've attended the alumni meetings at both the San Francisco and Marin locations. The facility is located in the beautiful hills of West Marin, and a perfect setting for a new beginning. Between treatment sessions I participated in a vast array of recreational activities: hiking, swimming, volleyball, basketball, and ping pong tournaments. I made a host of clean and sober friends whom I still stay in contact. I would recommend Serenity Knolls to anyone inflicted with the disease of addiction.

I do pro bono career counseling. My observations are based on multiple full days spent on site…read moremeeting with clients and staff. This review reflects what I personally observed and experienced during that time. Clients arrive and spend one to several days in Detox. Up to six people share one bathroom, and each client has a roommate. Nursing staff brings in food and checks on Detox clients around the clock. Then, clients move to cabins or two shared houses, and have to be driven to and from the main site at the start and end of the day with backpacks and no access to their rooms for about 15 hours per day. Clients spend from 9 am until about 9:30 pm in sessions, which consist of various types of therapy and AA-based meetings. There are occasional off-site activities including horse therapy and hikes. LISTENING TO SHARES is common. I witnessed various levels of staff preparedness. Taking attendance and dealing with paper appointment reminders can take significant time. There are three meals per day, and clients are served in two shifts. I heard clients share that the food is good if high in calories. Breakfast includes a daily scramble with various ingredients and there are sometimes short-order items; clients can also have instant oatmeal, smoothies, yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, coffee, fountain drinks, tea. Lunch and dinner are served hot and usually contain meat; salad is always present. Fare is generally American-grilled salmon, sandwiches, ribs, grilled vegetables, nachos, chicken breasts, pork cuts, etc. Special diets are accommodated, often with tofu. I witnessed many closures and significant waits with the office and nursing. Clients are required to do chores daily, such as working as dishwashers in the kitchen with professional equipment for 45-90 minutes. Clients get one nicotine run per week, rare haircuts, access to laundry every 10-14 days, and unannounced urine tests and K-9 visits. In my time there, I perceived the client base to be predominantly white. I heard multiple mentions of Burning Man, "spirituality," Jerry Garcia (whose death in or around here spawns many rumors), Buddhist centers in Berkeley, temples in the woods, henna, travels to Asia, dharma recovery as Buddhist rather than Hindu. I witnessed many racially-implicated incidents, as well as white-male shares numerically dominating many sessions. Sometimes there are readings from the LGBT AA book; flags went up for Pride Month. I witnessed some clients being allowed to curse at others publicly. There are views of a valley, and deer walk through daily. There are significant hills and stairs. Many of the 12 acres are off-limits. There is a small gym. In summer, you can use the pool, but it can be closed by staff due to client behaviors. At times, there are not enough seats for clients. After five days with no device access, clients can use their phones and/or laptops from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm during free time. There are rules around vaping, smoking, device use, sleeping during sessions, but I witnessed a wide range of compliance, staff response, and staff breaking rules. Families can bring clients ONE bag ONE time per 30 days with various supplies, which are checked. Clients can order FIVE Amazon items per 30 days. Family or friends can visit every Saturday, and are expected to participate in some programming. I often felt very upset in this space.

It creates a safe and welcoming environment for both patients and staff. It is a facility where professionalism, teamwork, and compassion are clearly prioritized. It is a place where I would be honored in pursuing employment after completing my clinicals. During my clinical experience, I felt encouraged to learn and was consistently supported by staff who were willing to share their knowledge while maintaining a strong focus on proper patient centered care. Having a grandfather with Parkinson's disease deepened my understanding of the importance of patience, dignity, and compassionate care; values that Creekview consistently demonstrates. I am truly appreciative of the professionalism and empathy shown by the entire team, and I would feel very confident entrusting my own family's care to this facility. Overall, Creekview reflects excellence in both care and workplace culture.

If you are looking for a place for an Alzheimer's, patient to have a long-term care, this is…read moreprobably a very good solution. If you're looking for short-term skilled nursing, I'm not so sure. I brought my mom in here to recover from major surgery. They screwed up the medications for the first 2 to 3 days until I came in and sorted it out myself. And if you're doing this, just be aware, that if the hospital transfers a patient, it can take them a minimum of 12 hours to get the medication to their facility, but no one will tell you this. So as a result, my mother who is suffering from extreme pain due to major surgery, had to wait almost 12 hours for medication because once I realized what was going on, I had two traipse to her house and procure some myself. And even once I thought we sorted it out, they still kept forgetting to give her some of the meds she was supposed to have for her eyes. It was eminently frustrating. They treat everyone like a dementia patient whether they have dementia or not. This is a material problem for people who do not have dementia. If someone is trying to recover from something, it means they will not get the attention, exercise, etc. that they need to actually recover. They'll be told to stay in bed and not move. Not helpful. They are shortstaffed on skilled nurses for the facility. There's basically one per shift and that is the only person who is allowed to do much of anything other than very basic stuff. Another material problem in my point of view The facility itself is very nice, clean, with a variety of separate spaces that are all well maintained. The food was high-quality. There are enough people around that you can feel like at least someone is always on duty and attending to the needs of the residence. Everyone who works there is delightful. To be fair, they listen to my concerns and tried to rectify and respond in a timely manner. If this is considered one of the best of the best, I'm alarmed for what that means for my own old age. It was OK. Like I said, if you're using it for long-term Alzheimer's support it's probably fine.
