The store feels a bit like a small art gallery mixed with a gift shop. There are beautiful paintings on the walls, colorful glass pieces hanging from the ceiling. I went in thinking I'll just take a quick look, then suddenly I had spent twenty minutes wandering around noticing new things on every shelf. This one is different: set on a private property in a quiet neighborhood in South Seattle, it feels calm, personal, and connected. For those of us who live just south of the city, it's such a treat to have a space like this nearby. The event space itself is gorgeous, and perfect for groups. The owner took time to walk us through everything and even offered drinks (such a thoughtful touch). What really impressed me was the selection -- not just the usual imported pottery, but also pieces made by local artists. I chose a heart-shaped dish I'd never seen before, and it truly feels like I created something unique. They have a wide range of brushes and tools, and I appreciated their two sizes of paint pen detail bottles--perfect for writing! Nicky was so helpful and accommodating. He reviewed how the pair a work and the process thoroughly but succinctly. He brought my chosen pieces out to the table since I had my dog with me. It is dog friendly outside! Not sure about inside. The staff was friendly and helped us understand the process of picking out a piece and painting it. There are also instructions on the wall on the steps you need to take to decorate your piece and there are labels everywhere to make sure you know what you're doing. When you first walk in, you pick a piece of pottery out to decorate/paint. There are a ton of items to select from including bowls, mugs figurines, and plates. I picked a little bowl to paint and pulled up my Pinterest board for inspiration. I went to go pick out my colors and they all had swatches on them with 1-3 coats of paint to show you how it looks when fired. They also have precision tip paint bottles (in the same selection as the regular paint) for little details and stamps. They provide you with assortment of paint brushes, decorated pieces for inspiration and different foam applicators for ombre looks. They also give you ceramic palettes and a water mug to clean off your paintbrushes. After you're done with decorating, you clean up your items and put them in the correct compartments for the staff to wash. Then you pay and they tell you when you can pick it up (usually within a week). There was only one staff member when we were there, but she was super helpful and kind. As we left around 6 PM on Friday, it got very busy.

Here is what happened: One of the first interview questions that was asked was around kicking people out that didnt agree with their political opinions. Next, the white women discussed blood/moon rituals, and was scolded by the other owner to stop. It was unprofessional and did not highlight their dynamic in a positive light. I was then asked to teach someone who had never thrown before, the owner, which I wasnt Informed of, or I would have prepared. The expectation to teach a surprise lesson was incredibly inequitable and a horrible interview practice. The fact that she didnt know how to pull was shocking, as this is a basic technique in ceramics. She didnt inform me that this was a skill she needed to be taught. Unfortunately, all the owners now how to do is turn a kiln off and on. Everyone who purchases a peice is lucky that the glazes stick. I went home feeling pretty terrible about the experience. When I called to ask about the status of the position I was told that they chose someone with more experience and a degree. Y'all i have a masters degree in ceramics and have taught high school ceramics for 10 years. Linda then admitted she didnt really know why they went with another canidate and offered a sales position which i declined. Overall incredibly disrespectful, inequitable, and unprofessional.

All the pottery is in another side room with more seats. All pottery have different prices and they have many different colors and styles. The staff was absolutely fantastic to work with and so very kind to one of our kids who accidentally knocked over a pottery item and only chipped the bottom of it. Staff was so kind it made the time here so memorable. Highly recommend again and again.
