Rynne Beach in Lowell is part of the Vandenberg Esplanade, better known as The Boulevard. This…read morepark is on the Merrimack River in Lowell and includes a long walking path along the water and an open-air stage across from Heritage Ice Cream. At the far end is the Lowell University Boat House. At the other end is Rynne Beach. The water isn't crystal clear (it's Lowell), but it really isn't very dirty. It's a nice sandy beach, good for children and adults. There's usually a life guard on duty in season. There are restrooms right behind it. There's a tiny parking lot there and a slightly larger one just on the other side of the stage area (next to the beach), but parking is allowed on the street. Picnics/bbqs and camping are allowed on the grassy areas on either side of the beach.

There are lots of benches and there's a small yet decently maintained beach with public restrooms. There are a couple of small parking lots that fill up quickly, but it's okay to park along the street. The paved foot path along the river is over one mile long. Great for urban hiking, walking, strollers, exercise.

There's always something going on here, especially in the summer - concerts on Mondays, Motorcycle…read morenight on Tuesdays, Monsters and Mini (jacked up trucks and Mini Coopers!) night, free movie nights on Wednesdays, kids night on Thursdays... Not to mention all the summer events like the African festival and Southeast Asian Water fest, among so many others. This is a nice, paved, well-maintained multipurpose path with lots of benches to sit on while you enjoy the beautiful Merrimack river. Well-lit at night with street lamps, it's the perfect place to watch a sunset while you enjoy an icecream cone from Heritage ice cream across the street. It's wonderful to see all the regulars while you walk and all the families enjoying the city. Arguably the best free thing you can do in Lowell on an evening.

Life jackets are provided of course and we have to sign waivers. The river route is so long and scenic and will definitely take hours. The staff are really helpful as well. My only complaint is that they only have fixed full day rental rate. I wish they also have half day rate for people who only wanna spend a short time. - 7.5/10

It's on Long Sought Pond in Westford, MA. It's a lovely cottage community -- nicer than glamping but not so cost prohibitive that it's a luxury resort. It's definitely an emerging trend that I hope to see more of. Each cottage is 2 bedroom, 1+ bathrooms with/without a storage loft. There's enough room to sleep 6 comfortably. It's a seasonal place only opened from mid-April to mid-October. It's great for families who are looking for a waterfront property to vacation at, or even an alternative to summer camp as it has a ton to offer. Besides access to a private pond/lake and private beach, you have access to boating (kayak, canoes, and sunfish), swimming pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, basketball courts, bocce courts, putting green, children's playground, hiking trails, fire pits, pocket parks, etc. There's no shortage of things do. During Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend, they have a full schedule of activities to do daily for children to adults. During the non-peak summer season, there's still plenty to do. This past year, they had Knucklebones to organize all the children's activities. It used to be Wyman's Beach, and today's it's a private gated community. It's wonderful especially if you live in the Boston area and are looking for a nice place to vacation at and don't want to deal with the traffic going to Maine, New Hampshire, or Cape Cod. It's a little village complete with post office, general store, and restaurant & bar.

A very nice park tucked away in a Chelmsford neighborhood…read more There are 2 tennis courts, a baseball field, and a large lake with a small sandy beach and a kids play area designed like a huge colonial fort. Also basketball court (double rims, unfortunately) and a Coke machine by the court. Parking is wherever you can find a spot on the road, or if you go up by the tennis courts there is a small dirt area. Watch out for kids playing in the street as you're driving. Heavily populated, but we had no trouble using the courts. No lights, either, so make sure you go during the day. Overall a nice, private place to play tennis or bring your kids to a cool play area while you lounge on the little beach and look for crabs or skip stones. Rowboats and flotation devices allowed in lake, not sure about motorboats (doubtful).
