Mom and I were randomly driving through Maine finding little shops and even an outdoor flea market and The Hidden Cafe. Driving down the road with my peppermint mocha in hand, we first drove past Eileen's. Thankfully, we both decided that we needed to turn around. We always stop for the weird. The skeletons and other lawn decorations definitely got our attention. Upon entering the store we were greeted by a nautical and Christmas themed room, followed by a vintage room filled with knickknacks from the floor to the ceiling. Another small room was a combination of genres and the front room was a mix of more fun & holiday items. When I learned that the young lady that we had been gabbing with was Eileen, the owner, neither my mom or I could believe it. A former teacher turned antique store owner, a woman who followed her heart. I wish her the very best and hope that if you're in the Arundel area that you will pay her a visit.

You could probably come once a week and find something new (that was either there before that you missed, or is just genuinely new to the shop). It's a curated and ever-evolving collection of all things country/cottage/colonial/farmhouse core: expect home decor, pottery, soaps, candles, jewelry, art, trinkets, statues, and more. A few of my favorite things about the spot: 1) it smells so good in here, 2) it's clean, 3) you are absolutely encouraged to take all the time you want perusing, 4) the dedication to local artisans, and 4) the "up and coming artists" wall that features kiddo-made items. Adorable. I ended up with a (one-of-a-kind) locally made vase and a locally made candle for $50. For HOMEMADE pottery? And a HOMEMADE soy candle? That's an amazing price, and my money goes back into my community and supports local artists. The next time you're looking to buy a gift for someone, treat yourself, definitely stop here!

We found this new bookstore just a few…read moresteps away from the busiest part of Perkins Cove and became big fans from the minute we saw it. The small and beautiful building it's housed in is quintessentially Maine. We stepped inside and were greeted right away by a lovely woman working the front desk. We immediately noticed an impressive variety of LGBT+-themed books as well as self-help/mental health ones, which we loved. Of course, they also had best sellers, cookbooks, and everything else. The inside was just out of a magazine. We bought one book and can't wait to return for more during our next Ogunquit trip. We love an indie bookstore!
