First appointment was brief & very generic. Uploaded documents on the portal for review. Over a month now and no response. Received a bill and can't get any response from anyone in the office. Messages not replied to, ever. They recommended tests even after test results were provided from 60 days prior. I feel it was merely to charge the insurance for another unnecessary procedure. Dr Patel, though conscientious and thorough, works for Heartplace which has few openings in their schedule for testing and procedures. Heartplace staff, Nurse Practioner Tiffany, are poor communicators, staff do not pick up phone calls. Scheduling staff delays submitting essential paperwork, does not have openings but weeks after test or procedure is deemed necessary, to schedule for serious tests nor for follow up appointments with doctor. July 1 saw cardiologist, Dr Patel with HeartPlace Mansfield for heart murmurs. Told me she found two heart murmurs, and abnormal results of cardiogram. Said we needed echocardiogram and nuclear stress test to determine seriousness and intervention needed. Dr nor staff explained that we needed to call the scheduling department for first test. July 9 was soonest could get on HeartPlace's schedule for first test, echocardiogram. Then 4 weeks from news of abnormal cardiac results - to wait to be put in the schedule to get definitive test which determined severity and cause. July 7-10 Insurance Supervisor called HeartPlace Bedford and Mansfield scheduling and was told preauthorization for nuclear stress test had not been submitted. July 7-12 Scheduling initially gave me date of July 22 but then said, because the prior authorization had not been sent, moved it to July 28! July 28 was soonest I could get nuclear stress test, because the staff member waited to complete preauthorization for 8 -10 days! Insurance approved it within 1 day of receiving authorization. 2 more weeks to find opening in HeartPlace schedule. Aug 6, was soonest Dr Patel office could schedule an appointment to explain results of Nuclear Stress Test. But it was her Nurse Practioner, Tiffany, in 10-15 minutes, who was designated to verbally deliver that an angiogram was needed and possibly stents. The 2 pages of test results we saw in the portal were charts and majority medical terms, not easily comprehended. They required explanation and a visual to follow. She did not Indicate, in that short time, what in the results would lead a doctor to conclude that the results showed "high risk," and that an angiogram and possible stents would be necessary. My husband, a medical professional, said she used term "angioplasty" and said to me "you do not have heart murmurs." Yet 2 heart murmurs were repeated on my chart in several places! Later that day, we requested Dr Patel call to explain results. And we paid for another appointment, with Dr Patel, which could be scheduled in another 2 days. Aug 8 Had videoconference with Dr Patel who explained what, in the test results, signified need for angiogram and possible stents. Told us the actual results what in 3 areas of results showed "serious, high risk" problems. Aug 11 Called Insurance and they called Heartplace. Heartplace scheduling later called and said that no preauthorization had been sent, Lisa was working on it. Insurance representative said that upon receiving it, they will expedite approval for the procedure. August 12, fifteen days after nuclear stress test (July 28) which showed "serious, high risk" heart problems; And 6 days after Aug 6, being told of need for angiogram am again WAITING for Heartplace scheduler to get preauthorization sent in - so can have intervention for high risk problems. read more

I read reviews on the Heart Place after my primary doctor recommended them. Then, after my appointment was made, I decided to check the reviews! Not good, there were so many bad reviews, I almost canceled my appointment! Im so glad I didn't, because my appointment was yesterday, and the experience was as good, if not better, than any doctor I have ever been to in my 80 years of experience!! I saw Dr Ammar Al Akshar, and he was incredible! He treated me as though I was his only patient, he asked me questions about my life, things that could have affected the changes in my heart condition! For those leaving reviews about this facility just wanting patients to submit to several tests so they can make more money, I call BS! The doctor could have ordered every test they had for me because I have very good insurance, but he didn't! I was extremely afraid because I had just been declined life insurance because the test the insurance company nurse gave me came back abnormal! Dr Al Akshar, took the time to look at the insurance companies graft, then explain that the graft they used was for a 35 year old! But, if they had used one for my age, I would have been way above normal! My daughter-in-law went in the exam room with me just in case I missed something, and she was as impressed as I was! One other thing, there were several complaints about how long they had to wait in the waiting area to see the doctor. Well, I did exactly as they suggested, I had my new patient forms mailed to me, and I had them filled out before I got there. I also checked in on line, and waited 5 minutes, maybe to see the doctor. I have been seeing Dr Patel for many yrs, so has my husband. She is a great Dr & walked me through a 2nd open heart with a great surgeon. She is caring and does not rush out but answers questions we have. I would not hesitate to see her & team. We have recommended her to friends who are very pleased with her also. read more

Not very comfortable with HeartPlace Almost certain that they work to suck as much money out of the patients as possible. Twice I have been Billed an additional bill above and beyond what my insurance has paid this has caused major problems with my FSA Account not understanding why this amount is not showing on a receipt. Secondly I have found inconsistencies in the standard medical practice and the practice of this office. last month I was given a heart monitor to wear for a 24 hour period. The standard practice is to wear the monitor for 2 weeks to a month. In consulting with another cardiologist I was told that 24 Hours does not yield enough useful data. Therefore any concerns that bring forth from this data is purely a money grab. read more

I would give this place a minus star if I could. I had a nuclear stress test scheduled for 10:30. At 11:15 I asked the front desk if they forgot me and she rudely informed me that they schedule 4 people at a time (all at 10:30) so they hadn't got to me yet- no apology. I asked why didn't they schedule people in 15 min increments so patients weren't inconvenienced and she just shrugged. Finally at 11:35 I was called back to a room. They told me to wait again and then 20 minutes later they inserted the IV port. I knew there was a lot of waiting involved in this process but the inconsideration is insane. After 3 hours I was told that they had to wait to administer the actual stress part of the test because there were no doctors in the office! I guess they all went to lunch which was more important than the four patients waiting. Also the staff ate in front of me knowing full well that we were told we couldn't eat before this test. I was told by their office this test would take between 3-4 hours. I left after 5 hours! No apologies of course! If you value your time and professionalism DO NOT GO a to the HEART Place in Mansfield. Too many other cardiologists that would treat you with respect. read more

Dr. Patel is an amazing doctor. She listens to you and provides sound advice. I highly recommend the HeartPlace.
