The physician I had was absolutely disappointing. I felt the care he gave was evident he did not care for my health or safety. I'm still in pain a year after my last surgery and worse off than I was prior to visiting this facility and the Arlington location. In the Arlington office the Xray techs told me the doctor said I could bare weight on my entire foot only for me to get to the doctor and he say otherwise but the surgery received from the doctor was far worse than anything the facility did wrong. Worst staff ever! I have Cubital tunnel which was co formed by Dr Rey. Surgery is required to resolve this. Very painful. No one in his office will schedule me for surgery & none of his staff will return my calls. This office has lost site of the care of people. Too big & out of touch. I manage a dental practice & would never allow my staff to go a week & not return patients calls. I should've known by the disaster I had trying to schedule the appointment. It was a nightmare! Kept saying they didn't accept my insurance without even calling. Had to request the manager. And called back & bam yes they take my insurance. I had surgery on my right shoulder by Dr. Drekulek. I told him that my labrum was torn. I already had an MRI that I tried to show him, he wouldn't look at it. Did the surgery, did NOT fix my labrum, he also hit my nerves in my neck while giving me the pain block for my arm. Then, after surgery, would not come in the room on my follow up appointments, just sending his P.A. in even though I was telling them I was experiencing pain shooting down my arm and into my hand. They would not listen to me, even when I asked for another MRI because I can feel that my labrum is still torn. They just kept giving me injections for the pain. I can't even lift my right arm! I'm right handed! Half of my hand is still numb. I am now in the long process of getting another doctor to fix this mess! Do not go to Dr. Drekulek! read more

I've been taken care of by the incredible staff of AOA since 2012 due to many medical conditions with my legs. Recently I have had some neck stiffness and needed to see one of their spine specialists. Dr. Wieser. After a short wait, we were escorted to the exam room. Dr. Drkulec is very back and forth with his bedside manner, I like his no BS attitude but hate the way I was severely injured during his surgical care. He did my surgery on 1-5-2023, I woke up completely naked and in severe pain on the opposite side of my surgery and completely paralyzed. My concerns were not taken seriously and I was immediately discharged and it was weeks before I could even stand on my own. We've been here several times, my wife and I, to see various specialty Dr.'s. Dr Foster is always so friendly!! Always helps and always listens and says what needs to be said. He's a pain Doctor and real good one. We've been here for Dr. Ramsey who is an AMAZING doctor as well. His specialty is the back and spine. Was there a half hour before appointment to check in but waited in the front for over an hour without any word on when we would actually see the doctor and the front office staff does not communicate with other departments when it comes to billing, so that was unsettling. I've gone to AOA several years ago and had good service then from several doctors and staff. However, service has really declined. I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in my hip by my neurologist who ordered an X-ray and referred me to Dr. Drkulec. I was also referred to Dr. Drkulec by my PCP. When I made the appointment, I was told I needed a referral from the last doctor I saw at AOA which was Dr. Foster. That was strange as I never needed one before. I gave up arguing and, as I am in much pain, agreed to see Dr. Foster's PA the next day. When I saw the PA, she said I did not need Dr. Foster's referral to see Dr. Drkulec and she scanned the CD of my hip X-ray into my record. I made another appointment to see Dr. Drkulec and gave the reason for seeing him as severe arthritis in my hip. He's listed on the AOA website as specializing in hips. I received a call from AOA about 4:45 the day before my appointment cancelling it. The reason was Dr. Drkulec, according to his nurse, "does not do hips" and the system regarding specialties is wrong. Why wasn't I told this earlier? He had the X-ray of my hip and when I made the appointment, I specifically stated I have a hip issue. Also, why isn't the system corrected to reflect the actual specialties of each doctor? Of course, I made another appointment with a hip doctor at AOA. But at this point, I don't know if I'll keep it considering the lack of consideration and inadequate service I received. If there was a zero I would have given that instead of a one star. Several years ago Dr. Drkulec "replaced" my knee. Not only did he not put it in straight, he replaced the kneecap with one too large. After going to him afterward with severe pain and him being dismissive and telling me the xrays showed it was all perfect, I sought out another doctor. My new doctor showed me the xrays he took and I immediately saw the problem BEFORE he pointed it out with a naked eye! The only way to repair it is to totally take the knee out and perform another replacement-a HUGE surgery I'm not willing to endure. So-I live with pain every minute of every day of my life. I was just there getting an issue with my foot checked out. The wait time is minimal and the staff there was friendly and helpful. They move you through the process quickly, but when the doctor comes in, it slows down and he really has time to listen and advise you. I really appreciate that as it is not often found anymore. I would recommend them and will. My only complaint was with the first person I spoke with to set up the appointment. I have been a patient of Dr Thad Dean for the last couple of years. My first surgical experience was a broken ankle. The site healed really quickly and the scar isn't too noticeable. **Review for Main Office and Therapy Center, Combined...A MUST READ** Main Office - After investigating several local orthopedic surgeons and reading reviews from numerous sites, we settled on this place and Dr. Crawford for a second opinion for my son's injury. He is very professional, seemingly very detailed, and took time with us to explain all that was going on along with his recommendation. We opted for micro-fracture for his ankle, done arthroscopically. Surgery went well and he was really good about explaining everything and answering any question we presented. If there was one thing that was a bit concerning is that he wanted to do ligament reconstruction "while he was in there" to tighten up looseness in the ankle, although it was unclear when he showed the difference in the two, that there was actual looseness. This would have required significant incisions, increased recovery, and quite an increase in our out-of-pocket costs. I did not doubt that this may have provided additional stability for the ankle going forward but, everything I read on this suggested that because of his youth, the ligaments would improve with time and therapy. I just chalked it up to surgeons like to operate and, while not absolutely necessary, may have provided some appreciable level of additional stability. That said...Four stars for Dr. Crawford and his staff! Physical Therapy - After allowing my son to do much of the preliminary work in setting these appointments, he had trouble getting the cost from the P/T office in Mansfield. I then talked with them and after what seemed like pulling teeth, they finally gave me a couple of estimates that were in the low to upper $100's (total cost before insurance kicked in). After his first appointment, he called me to tell me that they did exercises for the hour-long session and his portion (15% of the total cost) was well over $350 and our portion changed from approx. $20 to $60+! The front desk lady reluctantly spoke with me but was unable to explain how the cost jump to almost 3x the original estimate. I concluded the call telling her that I would call back to speak to an office manage because this was unacceptably high. Two days later when my son arrived for his next scheduled appointment, he was told that they cancelled the remainder of his appointments because they thought he wasn't coming back. No call, no email, just a cancelled appointment that he had to drive all the way to their location to discover. I was going to stop in and speak with the office manager but decided it was not worth it and, if this was the level of professionalism existing here, a review would go much further than trying to speak with someone. I suggest going somewhere else if you are looking at having lumbar spinal fusion. My 1st surgery in 2008 went well. 2nd surgery same AOA doctor in August, 2018 went horribly wrong!!!! I have been in constant pain every since....numbness in both feet, pain/numbness in left leg and lower back pain. A serious infection after surgery resulted in me having a pic line in my arm pumping antibiotics for almost 3 months. Multiple follow up visits, MRI's, X-rays and I am being told everything looks good. So where is the pain coming from? My final AOA visit February 2019- I am still asking for relief or answers for the numbness/pain mainly in my left hip/leg on this particular visit only to be told the left leg pain is probably bursitis and I was given a injection in my left thigh. Seriously!!! I requested my medical records and went to another Orthopedic surgeon who reviewed them and found that an MRI scan requested by my AOA surgeon-Arlington location about 4 months after the 2nd surgery shows a bulging disc from my 2nd surgery pushing against a nerve. Why didn't my AOA doctor do anything about this? Additional new scans show no or very little bone growth over one of my pedicle screws after 2nd surgery as well as disc deterioration above this fusion site and instability within my back. I will have to endure additional surgery to fix these problems. Doctors are great but avoid PT Department. Had back pain and all therapist did was look at exercises on internet. Said cost was $437 yet billed insurance over $500. After paid $437 and insurance paid still unable to get refund after almost 3 months. Went on internet and got same and better exercises. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Dean's since moving to Ft. Worth in March 2020. From Day 1, I absolutely knew I picked a great doctor. I knew hip replacement was in my future but instead of just booking me for surgery we tried PT and he left it up to me when I was ready to schedule. I did have the surgery about 8 months later. After the surgery I had an allergic reaction to the glue used and they got me in to see him in no time flat. Since that time I have also had knee replacement with the other knee scheduled at the end of the year. The care he and his entire team took before, during and after both surgeries was nothing more than exemplary and know the third will be the same. They are very patient focused. I saw Dr. Nicholls on 2/7/2018, he was so helpful! He sat next to me and showed me everything about my CT SCAN I had questions on. He also was very honest to tell me I needed to see someone else because my problem was not his specialty and he referred me to Dr. Dean who also helped me. I know where to go for my future orthopedic needs. From the moment I walked in i was greeted with politeness and respect. Then nurse that took me to the room was so nice. I have been a patient of Dr. Drkulec over the past several months, following a serious automobile accident. After going to therapy, which was recommended by another physician, it was finally determined my chronic pain was caused by tear in my rotator cuff.
