Best vegan "meat" ever. Very friendly staff. I'm going to have to stock up before I head back to university.

Found amazing "beef" jerky here today. Must try. And of course everything else they sell is great as usual.

Everything! Really flavorful food. Don't expect big portions necessarily--American speaking here…read more But very very good vegan food. We've done take out a couple of times and dined in for breakfast this morning. Haven't had anything bad at all. My recs are the Korean curry and rice, the "tuna" poke bowl, and the breakfast burrito. My utmost favorite was the sweet chili tofu wrap and the bulgogi burrito (probably one of the best burritos I personally have ever bit into--and being from Texas I've eaten a lot of burritos). As a final note, the service was incredibly nice and we had the chance to meet the owner, Rose (be sure to follow her on her channel, Cheap Lazy Vegan).

There is a pretty good amount of seats given that it's a small space, it's just not a huge place. I got the Japchae and it was perfect. Also the pan fried dumplings were also amazing. The people at my table ordered extra dumplings because we were all obsessed. I also got the lentil pancakes and they were soooo good too. I was sitting with 4 other friends and everyone was so happy with their food so it seems like no matter what you get, it's going to be amazing.

We had to indulge in breath mints on the way home after sharing the garlic fries, but they were soooo good. We also shared the BBQ wings and they were incredible. My wife had the mushroom tacos and I had the Chickin wrap. My wife never eats the typical 3 small tacos offered in many restaurants, but she did take the 2 tacos at Vegan Street; which were quite big and she wolfed those down. I was in heaven over the buffalo Chickin wrap. It was probably the best meal I've had in years, and it was vegan!!!! All the flavour, texture, sensations and absolutely no guilt; well a little bit over eating too much ;) If you want to give vegan a shot, go to Vegan Street. The food is incredible, the service awesome and atmosphere delightful.

UPDATE: Ownership's response relies on vague phrasing about "context" and "communication dynamics"…read moreto subtly imply we were difficult. Again, that was never once communicated to us in any way, and had it been, we gladly would have apologized and adjusted to their standards. I never realized that politely requesting items, using industry-standard terms like "may I," and praising both the FOH and kitchen staff for accommodating us each and every time was an issue. I want to reiterate: the only dynamic was us being loyal regulars for years, attempting to give polite, private feedback about a drop in service, and immediately receiving a lifetime ban over text. They have now confirmed that even our offer to order delivery with zero modifications is denied. That is the entire context. I am content to let my review stand, be posted in other locations with a reference to here, and Calgary diners can judge this level of "professionalism" for themselves. Original Post: I genuinely dislike posting negative reviews and have never wanted to hurt a local business, but it is extremely important to warn Calgary patrons about how this restaurant treats its customers--especially those who require menu modifications. We have been loyal customers of Vegan Street for years, frequently navigating a gluten-free lifestyle by requesting modifications. We have dined here during peak weekend rushes, slower afternoons, ordered takeout, and regularly made reservations. Through every interaction, not once did any staff member communicate that our requests were an issue. Furthermore, we always went out of our way to be excellent guests: we are polite, our kids use their best manners, and we even clean up our table and stack our dishes to make things easier for the servers. We constantly told the staff how much we valued Vegan Street as dedicated Vegan restaurants with gluten free options are rare. Everything changed for us when I tried to politely address a sudden drop in customer service. After experiencing poor service and staff rolling their eyes at us during recent visits, I asked to speak privately to one of the owners. I did this quietly at the restaurant, away from other patrons and in good faith. I shared how much we love supporting them and I explained that I understood people have bad days, but felt ownership should be aware of the interactions. Instead of taking the feedback professionally, the owner sent us a text message a few hours later--which we can happily post to prove our position. She claimed my feedback "matched" a negative online review (which wasn't mine) and falsely blamed me for it. She then stated that our dietary modification requests over the past few months have "been too much on the staff and kitchen" and told us we are no longer welcome moving forward. When we pointed out that absolutely no one had ever communicated that our requests were a problem, she actually agreed with us. Yet, she doubled down anyway, jumping straight from zero communication to a lifetime ban. We explained that had we'd been told our requests were an issue, we gladly would have adjusted--such as taking things off our food ourselves or asking for sides. Acting as our own sous chefs while paying full price is a reasonable compromise before resorting to a ban. Unfortunately, this was never requested. Wanting to find a way forward, we even politely asked if we could still order delivery with absolutely zero modifications. She never responded. Bottom line: To ban multi-year, respectful regulars over text because ownership cannot handle private feedback--and to admit they never once told the customer there was an issue beforehand--is a shocking lack of professionalism and business ethics. Any public reply from the owner(s) to this review that is anything less than a genuine apology and an immediate reversal of the ban should be viewed as nothing more than a desperate attempt to save face. While we may never return given how the ownership acts, other patrons deserve to be aware. Perhaps a zero-modifications policy should be implemented instead of treating customers like they are the problem. If you have celiac disease, severe allergies, or dietary restrictions, be warned: asking for a menu modification here is a gamble. Apparently, you should just order something else or be prepared to act as a sous chef at your own table. Owners and staff alike may silently resent your requests for years, only to ban you without warning the moment you ask for basic customer service. Also, although most are friendly, the staff and owners here can apparently treat you any way they want, and if you say anything, be prepared to be asked to never come back. We happily supported this business for years, but they clearly do not value loyalty, dietary needs, professionalism, or basic communication. Save your money and support a local establishment that actually treats people with respect.

The restaurant was pretty spacious and not very busy on a Saturday late afternoon. The place however was a little warm inside, maybe the AC wasn't working as they had some fans on. We ordered the vermicelli dish and pad Thai as the staff told us it was their most popular dish. The pad Thai was indeed one of our favorite. It had a unique smoky flavor to it. We also ordered the pho and eggplant dish. The pho had a surprisingly rich flavor. I would definitely recommend the pho. Overall we were very pleased with our meal and left full with hardly any left overs.

Being a vegetarian, I have had a hard time getting pho that's flavorful but the chefs here have magic in their hands, they have put so much heart and effort in packing so much flavor in their broths! I had the Sate Tofu Noodle Soup, ah can't get the taste out of my head!! Such richness, the freshness of the house made tofu paired with soft rice noodles was just beyond perfection!! The Pad Thai was also delicious: it missed one thing: crushed peanuts which we usually get at Thai restaurants. The restaurant has a very calm and peaceful auto to it!!! Full of large plants and a meditation area, it's a nice getaway from the corporate hustle outside. The place closes at 8, so reach early.
