My friends and I were nearby doing an escape room event. They like to drink beer and are vegetarian, so this place appealed to them. I'm not a beer drinker, but I found plenty that appealed to me. I like the fact that when you are ready to order, you go up to the bar and place your order. You can leave a tab open or close it out. No hassle about splitting checks. The menu had clearly marked vegan and vegetarian items. I am doing vegan low carb at the moment. I ordered a taco salad and had it veganized. I got a side of peanut sauce that I saw came with vegan potstickers. I was curious about the potstickers, but stuck with the salad. My friends got tofu tacos, spring rolls and potstickers. They generously offered me a potsticker to satisfy my curiosity. It was good! The parking lot was small and full. I parked next door and asked a wait staff if it was ok, I was told yes. We've been several times and the food has always been pretty great over all...I had some amazing corned beef hash for brunch the other day, though their cheesy potato's are HEAVY on the cheese, it's more like soup I guess you could say, they could have used half the cheese and it would have been so much better, the potatoes were swimming in it which was just over kill...but it's a favorite place for cornhole and good grub! I didn't realize there was a brewery in this area, tucked right off Hwy 99. There is outdoor seating which was dog friendly --the main reason for our choice as my friend had her dog come along. Ordering was fairly painless at the register. We got the Mac n cheese, PNW burger, and rosemary fries. All were solid choices. I'm not a big fan of beer but my friends who ordered some were overall quite happy. Great place to go as a group--we ended up bringing some board games to play outside as well. read more

Please please please update your customer ordering flow. It's horribly inefficient which affects your customers thus your bottom line. Example - Order food and beer's, go find your seat, drink your beer, then go wait back in line for 15 mins for another beer. Solution - QR code to on tables, order beer or more food, beer shows up at your table...no waiting in line, more sales! Or...at the very least use your handle held pos to enable customers to buy a beer without having to wait in the general line!! Do your customers a favor and work with your Clover rep for more efficient solutions. read more

Lucky for us on a Friday, they open at 11:30 AM. Other weekdays, they do open later. Great thing for us, there is pretty ample parking for a motorhome towing a car. There is a pretty good size gravel lot right next to the brewery. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender who took my drink order and gave me some menus. We had our dog with us, so we had to sit outside on the patio. There were some pretty good shade spots at about noon from some trees. They do also have a few umbrellas, which would probably come in handy as the sun continues to move west. I ordered a few tasters of their West Coast IPAs and my wife ordered a flight of ciders. I liked all the beers I tried, especially the Transend IPA. My wife especially liked the barrel aged cider and the blackberry cider. read more

What a fantastic local brewery! I have family that lives not too far away from this location and am so glad we stumbled upon it! There's plenty of beverage to choose from - great beers, cider, seltzers, and plenty of NA options as well. Their Baja Blast seltzer was quite interesting as was their cider/sparkling wine "mimosa" combo! Very tasty. Their food is top notch as well. Their fries are amazing...literally can't be beat. Taco salad, chicken tenders, burgers...all great. We had such a good experience the first time, we came back less than a week later! Both outdoor and indoor seating. Dog friendly. Parking is small but they do have a large gravel lot behind the space. Highly recommend. Service is great. It's a fun stop! read more

Stopped in for lunch around noon on a Saturday. Interesting location, behind Chuck's Produce. It's kind of an industrial looking area. The outside seating was okay, but some table umbrellas would be nice. There are a couple of young trees that provided some shade. It's really in need of flower planters and maybe some string lighting?! It was a very uninviting patio off a gravel lot. It was clean, just no color or ambiance. We came inside and were greeted by a young lady behind the counter. There were only a few tables occupied when we arrived, so they were not too busy. We ended up ordering the pastrami style burger ($17.50) and one of their current specials, the grilled chicken Caesar wrap ($17.50). My hubby also ordered a pint of their Transgression beer ($6). He really enjoyed the flavor and even ordered another one! The food was good, and the ingredients were fresh. My hubby really enjoyed his burger and beer. Service was a little slow during the ordering process. You order at the counter, they give you a number, then bring you your food. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. Prices are comparable to other like establishments. Overall, it was a nice first experience. Oh Heathen, you have a special part in my heart. You're more than just the neighborhood watering hole. You are a place where good times are had, a place where you can relieve stress, you are a place for people to gather and enjoy each others company! Food- Phenomenal, I would go on a limb and say best brewery food in town. I would review a specific meal but all are good. They make a mean Philly, all burgers are great, and shoot what isn't good there? Ambiance- this spot is a bit different than the Ferral house downtown. This is where the beer is actually made. I'm a sucker for a drinking a beer in the middle of where it was made Service- counter service but the best in the business. Careful they might crack a joke! This is our second time to eat at this restaurant. I remember having a good meal the first time when I ordered the fish tacos. But this morning was Saturday brunch and I had the breakfast tacos, which were stuffed high with egg and topped with pico and cheese. Two tacos was more than enough for me. The ahi tuna was cooked perfectly, ample portion, coated with sesame seeds. Good cabbage and a large bun. Staff was helpful checking on the table. Yes, Heathen Brewing is still as awesome as ever! I've been to the Feral Public House several years ago and loved it but I've never been to this taproom until just recently. The beer is still as good as ever. I bought some of the Pagani which is their Italian style Pilsner and have really enjoyed it. I've been commenting several times to Steve that we need an Italian Pilsner to go with an Italian dish. Well Steve made two Italian dishes and we happened to have this Pilsner still in the house so that particular dream came true. Italian pilsners are just fine standing on their own but having it with an Italian dish makes it all the more special. Always love Heathen's saying of "Progressive Ales For The Promiscuous Palate". Plenty to love with that slogan for any beer geek or foodie. read more

The brewery overall is pretty good for the environment and vibe. The beer is pretty good and with no complaints there. The ordering process seems orderly and not chaotic and the service was friendly and timely. However...my wife and I ordered some sweet potato fries to eat with our beers. When they arrived (20 minutes later...for fries), we were disappointed to see that the order was quite small for 12.-. Expected a much bigger portion when paying 12 dollars. They were good but, we finished them off pretty quickly (we are not big eaters). The experience was good for the most part. read more

Weird to see another review complaining about the music -- staff selects the music on a VERY rotating basis, so you never know what will be playing when you roll up. Let me preface this by saying that we have eaten several times at the Heathen Feral Public House and have not any complaints. Hard to believe this is run by the same management team. I'll start with my Taco Salad. 90% lettuce on a plate rather than a large bowl which made it hard to keep the food corralled. They forgot the crispy tortillas (which were nothing more than little tortilla salad toppers.) Minimal sour cream. The chicken was good though. Her Mac and Cheese was awful. Runny and the cheese has separated. Asked for crispy chicken but got grilled. The biggest sin was none of the promised diced bacon. I've heard they have a good breakfast, but I'm not willing to roll the dice to find out. read more

Will not be back, compared to the other location in downtown Vancouver this location is horrible. Only two cider selections on tap and even less options for beer on tap as well. The downtown location has vodka for mixed drinks but this location does not. Despite advertising blue cheese fondue on the menu what we received was NOT blue cheese fondue. It was plain melted yellow cheese and tasted awful. The food menu is much smaller compared to the downtown Vancouver location as well. Not only is the food menu smaller but the portion sizes received are smaller as well but the price is the same as the downtown Vancouver location. So at this location you get less food for the same price. I recommend avoiding this location until they figure out what they are doing. In addition to what I mentioned they messed up on our food order. We ordered three food items and they "missed one" despite them repeating the order back and confirming the item was indeed ordered. Two of the dishes arrived but not the third, we figured it was just taking a bit longer. Over 10 minutes go by and we go up to the register to ask and they say they "missed it" when we ordered. They read back the order and repeated what we ordered and they included the item that was "missed". How do you say that it was missed when originally you read it back confirming that it had indeed been ordered? Not only is the food worse but the staff appears to have no idea what they are doing. The downtown Vancouver location is much better and I do not recommend this location. read more

Once again Heathen did not disappoint. It's been 3 years since we were here. Britain, the bartender was absolutely fantastic. Helped us pick out beefs for our flight. Went to the one in downtown Vancouver city center. Awful customer service. We love to check out other taprooms every Sunday. The customer service at that location was awful. In our trek we realized they had another location. We had tried some sours in the cab at Antidote, and really wanted to find the the main. This place is fantastic! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a older gentleman at the counter who was busy, but made it known he would be right with us. We wandered the menu and location and it's a total vibe. We had two flights to try all the variety and every single one was fantastic!!! He truly turned our awful experience from the other location into a amazing one. I've been a fan of this place for years. I love the food. And I love the atmosphere. The service is regulated by ordering first near the bar, and finding a seat. My friend and I decided to try this place one night as we had walked by many times. Another one of those no service models where you order at the counter and they bring you your food and if you need anything else back to the line and counter you go. We both order a salad with grilled chicken. It was terrible! How you screw this up is beyond me but the spice on the chicken was awful and the salad was dry and boring otherwise. While we were sitting there a homeless woman came by and asked for money. Not her fault but your think they would set it up differently so the customers weren't being harassed while trying to enjoy their meal. Overall this was overall a disappointing experience. What an absolute disappointment for the first time visit, and definitely the last time. The customer service was incredibly rude and the waitress was useless. The audacity to ask for a tip before your food is even brought to the table is ridiculous. All of the brunch was sold out within the hour which is fine but then I ended up having to buy a $20 pretzel And chicken strips with three small root beers ended up being $55 plus a tip that was not deserved at all. The waitress came over and asked if we needed anything but really what she wanted to say was when are we leaving. For the price of the food you would think that they would have better service there. They obviously have some bias attitude towards us because everybody there that was Caucasian was treated quite well. I will definitely not be recommending this place to anyone and I will make sure that everyone I know remember how I was treated and my family when we visited this establishment. Training is important and customer service is vital when it comes to businesses that depend on people coming in for your support. We're on a mini beer pilgrimage to Portland for the weekend and decided to take a side trip to Heathen. All I can say is trust your Google Maps...the brewery is a little off the beaten path but worth the hunt. It's actually located behind a house, so if you think you might be trespassing onto someone's property you've come to the right place! Located in a small converted barn, Heathen features some of the more interesting beers we've tried in quite awhile. I was thrilled to see they brew an awesome brown (the Old Timber Nut Brown - also available in a coffee-infused version for you breakfast beer lovers), while my IPA-loving hubby enjoyed a taster flight of various varieties, including the Transgression IPA which won Best IPA at the Oregon Brewfest! While Heathen doesn't serve pints, they'll let you sample whatever you'd like. Bring your growler(s), or buy one of theirs to fill and take home. They also have several bottled beers to choose from. We look forward to coming back in a year when they've opened their planned tasting room. read more

The best experience I've had at a brewery in a long time. The man working at the counter was extremely knowledgeable and had trained some of the owners of the best local breweries like Loowit and Brothers Casacadia. We quickly struck up a conversation like old friends and learned about the story of Heathen Brewing and their newer venture into cider and wine production. We tried 3 or so really solid beers of varying styles from fruit beers to pilsners to a stout that was packed with PB flavor and balanced with chocolatey smoothness. Ended up buying a bottle of their gold medal Riesling and highly recommend stopping here on your way through, next time we are going to check out the pub in Vancouver. read more

The food was pretty good, the fries are super crispy, the bacon jam burger was a bit bland and slightly overdone for our taste, but still good, the service is good, we sat at the bar and the servers checked in on us, ambiance is brewpub, i enjoyed the posters and art and the football game was on.
