Only the *tiniest* bit bummed, we decided to still get married and scheduled our civil ceremony. But now, I want a photographer to document this event... I think I found Emily on Instagram, after looking around at different photographers' work. I remember really liking Emily's style, how natural everyone looked, and how well Emily captured the moments. I think those were/are the most important things for me for choosing a photog, and it helped that Emily has (solid) reviews for me to go through as well. Emily was prompt in responding via email, and offered to chat on the phone to discuss the details and what I wanted. After talking for a bit, I sent over a deposit and we were set! Or not... because a week or two before our shoot, I looked at my civil ceremony appointment time and it was actually for 8am, NOT 8:30am. Yikes! I text Emily, nervous that she wouldn't be able to make the earlier time, and I would need to scramble for another photographer, but thankfully, Emily is flexible and okay with the earlier time. Phew! I also wasn't quite sure *what* I wanted from the photos (POSES? props!? specific backgrounds?!) but found some pictures I liked and sent them to Emily a day or two before our appointment, so she had an idea what I was going for. I appreciate Emily's responsiveness! The actual civil ceremony felt a little hectic; we did not know what it would entail -- paperwork, of course, and then waiting because there were other couples that were getting married that day. Thankfully, Emily was very patient. Emily is personable, friendly, and professional. She is very easy to work with, and helped the husband (!!) and I feel comfortable. Nothing felt forced, and I think she did a great job of eliciting and capturing our authentic moments. We are super pleased with the pictures and I can't stop looking at them! Lol. I would *definitely* solicit Emily's services again. Maybe for one of her fun mini shoots down the line. What a cute, low pressure and creative way to get some quality photos! I've been a…read moreclient of Chasing Daylight Photography since 2018, and we've been getting photos with Kate every year since. Although we mostly do annual mini sessions, we've had Kate do full family sessions with wiggly twin babies, and a wigglier grandad who is impossible to get to look at the camera, it's probably harder to get him to look at the camera but Kate will get your shot. Kate has the most infectious personality, and she keeps my son locked in for the mini sessions, which are perfect for kids. Her newborn sessions were perfect for my tastes and I wanted sweet pictures without weird swaddling, composite photos and strange props. Kate knows how to pose life without looking posed (if that makes sense). She was even good at navigating a few tricky family moments with composure and humor. I recently was able to get some pictures for a headshot session and I really loved the results. Her results are always great without a bunch of fussy equipment, the locations are fun, her pricing is fair and her propensity to book up immediately shows you why she's so popular! I didn't think any of the family photos would be usable :P my daughter is not one to pose and stay still. Celi was so kind and brought blocks for her to play with.
