Disclaimer: I realized that I had not completed this review and posted in time. I visited here at the end of April, beginning of May and I would highly recommend! While most of the distilleries sit apart from each other, they each hold their unique story and background. This is a must stop on your trip to Kentucky. Beautiful grounds and property. The inside is beautiful and modern. The staff are all friendly and very welcoming. Gift shop has everything you would ever need. Tour: Heritage Tour Starts with a guided ride to the new spring distillery. Our driver Nelson was full of information and was very friendly. The new Spring distillery is just gorgeous. Very posh. You are greeted at the door and handed an amazing old fashion with vanilla infused simple syrup and garnished with a cinnamon stick. Just delicious and a great spin on a classic cocktail. Our guide Lindsey was awesome. Very interactive, witty and funny. She made the entire experience better. You get pours along the way which is better than just a full tasting at the end. Bonus gift, you get a land-yard with a mini tasting glass attached. It was so nice to have. We toured Heaven Hills production facility and had a great experience with Lindsey as our guide. The experience included welcome cocktails and lots and lots of tastings along the way while touring the facility, ending at their sleek bar area. We get down to Heaven Hill often enough and always enjoy it. The staff and service is top notch all the time. We were able to do the bottled in bond tour where sampled some of their different bourbon and rye options. I always enjoy being in the rickhouses, the smells and of course the bourbon! read more

First of many stops on our guys trip. For a mega distillery they do a very good job educating you and getting into the barrel storage buildings. The only place I went that let you keep both tasting glass and the lanyard. The tour guide also really loves his job and it shows. The view from the 2nd floor cafe is phenomenal and the prices and quality of the food (looking at guest plates) - I didn't have time to eat there but it looked really good. read more

Came for a quick bite to eat and to go through the gift shop. What we thought was going to be a quick bite to eat turned into a time out on the patio lingering enjoying conversation, the natural landscape, and the wonderful charcuterie board! The charcuterie board was more than enough for two people looking for a light lunch and the cheese, meat, crackers, and jellies were some of the best we've had before. While it was an order up at the counter place the servers brought out our food and drinks and did it with a smile. We loved our time here at Heaven Hill! read more

Go to Heaven Hill for the museum (it's free and full of interesting information), but I would not recommend our "tour," You Do Bourbon, a Tasting & Bottling Experience. At $40 per person it was our most expensive and least liked. Heaven Hill is known for a variety of bourbons- notably Elijah Craig. I thought the chance to bottle our own bourbon would be amazing- it was not. First- you start with a tasting. The sole focus of our tasting guide was the high proof of each pour. Nobody in our group liked the bourbon despite having used Elijah Craig over the years in tasty Old Fashioned drinks. To compound the negative experience- every bottle available to bottle your own bourbon was priced well above your local liquor store or Total Wine. Watching other people bottle their bourbon was anticlimactic and a relatively short activity. We did enjoy the museum and the video they show about Heaven Hill and the devastating fire that occurred in 1996. You can experience that with no charge. That's my recommendation. read more

Heaven Hill is a nice stop on the Bardstown portion of the Bourbon trail. Another must stop with the extensive product line offered. Being a bit cold, we did the indoor food pairing tour. We watched a video before beginning. Our guide was very informative. Loved the story about how Larceny came about. It's a great everyday pour. My favorite was the Larceny barrel proof. We went to the upstairs restaurant for a light snack. Nice grounds. Staff very welcoming and friendly. read more

Hands down one of out favorite stops and tour in Bardstown. I typically think of Heaven Hill for great value Elliga Craig and Larceny. OH MY GOODNESS, we did the Connoisseur Tasting and they poured the Eliga CraiCraig 18 year, I had never heard of. It was one of the best whiskys I have ever had!! This is by far my favorite distillery on the bourbon trail. There are a bunch of options. I did not get on a tour because of a last minute decision to check it out and they were booked up. I did go upstairs and try a couple flights. The bartenders were really chill and knowledgeable about the products. The shop and free museum is a must for anyone who stops here. This was our first stop on our mini bourbon tour in Bardstown. 5 stars for the educational display downstairs that reviews the history of the distillery and includes various fun bourbon facts. This is self guided, but you can also reserve guided tours and tastings. We did our own tasting of 2 different flights in the tasting room upstairs, which is a nicely appointed space. My favorite was the 8 year old Fitzgerald, and watch out for mellow corn, which earned the 1 star deduction. Nothing mellow about that - one more shot of that down my gullet and I would have been able to jet engine myself home! Service was friendly but busy. Worth a stop on your tour for sure! read more

Very interesting stop. A large museum, enjoyable and informative, showing the company history (including the fire and the owner family), historical movies, a small gift store, and a nice tasting room with a patio and view of some of the warehouses (they distill closer to Louisville and have several very large aging complexes scattered around the area). Parking was great, the employees were great, and I enjoyed the tastings. Worth the drive for just the museum alone. read more

I'm a huge fan of Heaven Hill products. They have a mega line of bourbon and are a leader in the industry. A few of the brands most recognizable are Elijah Craig, Old Fitzgerald, Evan Williams & Larcney. My favorites are the Old Fitzgerald 8 &14 year and Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. I scheduled a tasting that was conducted at their new building, Bourbon Heritage. It's a good looking structure. The staff was very friendly and welcoming to guest. They also offer a gift shop in the same building. The tasting room was a phenomenal introduction to Heaven Hill products I have not tried before. I have a better appreciation for the company and plan this year. If you ever thought of doing the Bourbon Trail I would highly recommend. read more

We did the connoisseur tasting experience. Started with a video of the making of the charred barrels and then to the tasting room to sample the higher end hard to find offerings. Our host was very nice as was all the staff there. We were a small chatty group and had a good time. There were a couple Elija Craig, a McKenna, A bonded bourbon which is hard to come by but I f you had this tour were allowed to purchase a bottle. We all did as it was very good. There was a cool bar upstairs. Elevator is available. There is a cute gift shop which reflect all their different offerings and an area about the history of each that you can walk through on your own. read more

Wow! One of the best Distillery experiences! They have a huge new museum section that is super cool with lots of history. The gift shop is awesome too. There is a huge bar upstairs with hard to find bottles. Great view and wonderful staff. We did the tour where you get to taste a barrel strength small batch mixed just for this event. If you like one you can purchase a bottle. But the cool thing is you get to bottle it yourself!!! I did the Larceny and my wife did Elijah Craig. Super high proof stuff that was an amazing blend. It was really cool getting to bottle and label it yourself. Worth every penny! read more

What a fun distillery. I am glad we stopped by on our Bourbon Trail. It was so much fun walking around the museum downstairs and learning about the history about Heaven Hill. Afterwards we had a fun time at the gift shop where we spent way too much money, but I seriously loved everything we purchased. I'm not a big whiskey fan but when a cocktail calls for it I prefer Evan Williams. So when I spotted this Evan Williams eggnog it didn't take a lot of pondering to give it a try. Well this 30 proof holiday drink is made with their straight bourbon whiskey plus blended whiskey, rum and brandy with a smooth custardy consistency and it's pretty tasty. Evan Williams bourbon is distilled and bottled in Bardstown, KY and is part of the Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc. which is a private, American family-owned and operated distillery founded in 1935. All of the Master Distillers at Heaven Hill since its founding have been members of the Beam family.  If you're in Kentucky there's a cool tour located on Louisville's historic "Whiskey Row", the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience features an their artisanal distillery, tours, educational tastings, and more! One star is too high. We visited 6 distilleries so far. Heaven Hill was BY FAR the worst. The check in lady was curt, at best. We did the Whiskey Connoisseur Tasting. It was lame. You taste 5 or 6. The host was getting irritated with people talking while they did the tasting. At every other place, people have talked and laughed. Not here. Kinda like catholic school. No talking. The tastes were not great. At our table of 6 (3 couples we did not know each other), only one liked the tastings. The other 5 of us agreed it wasn't great. Lasted about 15-20 minutes total. The only bright spot was the gift shop. It was good. Skip this place. Seriously. It's a ripoff. Visit Makers, Beam, Woodford, Buffalo Trace, angels. Skip this place. read more

My husband and I are in a four day bourbon trail experience and every distillery we have visited has been great with the exception of Heaven Hill. Heaven Hill had a special allocated bottle line that is not controlled. People in the line are extremely aggressive and rude. Heaven Hill only has a certain number of bottles and could easily give numbers corresponding to the number of bottles available. They don't do that. Heaven Hill makes people stand in line and once they run out they make an announcement. It even got to point where people were leaving the line to go up to the counter to complain about other people who had supposedly walked up to the counter and cut in line. The front desk staff at Heaven Hill were not friendly either which was really surprising considering the wonderful people we met at the other distilleries. read more

The upstairs bar called Five Brothers is a really cool spot! I'm not the biggest bourbon drinker, but I got a bourbon flight and did enjoy them. The bartender was really nice and gave some good recommendations. We didn't get to take a distillery tour, but I would love to do that in the future. read more

This is on there walkup line operations. People show up way too early and it doesn't allow out of town visitors to get bottles. It appears that it is locals mainly in line. One guy was bragging about how he has 13 old fitz. The distillery does not communicate with the people in line, that they only have so many bottle either. You need a better way to release your allocated items. read more

Hubs was in 7th heaven because this is one of his favorite places. I was on dog duty so I walked around the campus and he did the tasting. It's changed since we were last there - the gift shop has been relocated and the old gift shop is now the tasting area. Everyone was so nice. We really enjoyed talking to Philip and his very friendly co-worker (sorry-forgot to get her name) that introduced me to the tasting samples. I loved the pumpkin cream and the peach liqueur. This review is purely on the gift shop as I did not do any tasting or tours here. It was a quick stop between distilleries. The gift shop at Heaven Hill Distilleries is small, but my understanding is they are in the process of expanding so there you will likely see a big change following this review. Currently they offer a small selection of products being a smaller distillery. What they do offer seem to be quality items that don't appear cheaply made, so you know they put time and effort into offering products that will last or be a great keepsake for any visitor. Due to its current small-nature state, it can get pretty crowded and difficult to get around when there are 2-3 groups of people shopping or waiting for their tasting. I would come back after they finish their remodel so I can truly see the time, effort and money put into the facility and any new tour options they have available. read more
