My son attended Hilltop Christian Preschool for two years, giving him the opportunity to participate in both their Pre K and TK programs. Before Hilltop, he had never attended a formal school setting, so watching his growth over those two years was truly incredible. The teachers are absolutely phenomenal (Mrs Gilary, Mrs Tina, Mrs. Dorothy and Mrs. Alejandra), and there are so many reasons why. They genuinely have a love for teaching and for the children they serve. They encourage independence, nurture each child's individual personality, and create creative, engaging programs that allow children to learn naturally and organically. They also provide so many special experiences throughout the year, including multiple performances that give the children opportunities to build confidence and shine. When my son first started, he had HUGE feelings and very few words in his toolbox to express them. I watched the teachers meet him with patience, compassion, encouragement, and consistency. Little by little, they helped him find his voice, become more independent, and develop the confidence to navigate new experiences. By the time he started kindergarten, he was confident, reading, expressing himself beautifully, and leading conversations. That transformation speaks volumes about the love, dedication, and intentional teaching he received at Hilltop. I will forever be grateful to the teachers and staff at Hilltop Christian Preschool for helping lay such a strong foundation for my son. They didn't just prepare him academically for kindergarten, they helped him grow socially, emotionally, and personally. My daughter found this when she enrolled him into Hilltop Christian School. He has grown so much and this was because of the wonderful teachers and aides at the Hilltop Christian Preschool. He started with Mrs. Hillary where she helped him mature and focus while learning about Jesus in a safe and non judgmental classroom. She cares about her children and their families. After he left her class, he was promoted to his pre k class where Mrs. Dorothy Coker took over. She provided him with structure and discipline to prepare him for Kindergarten. She works so hard to make sure that her students are prepared for Kindergarten. They are so innovative when it comes to assignments and programs that they put on throughout the year. Yesterday we attended the Pre-K graduation and they did not disappoint. They made sure that all of the graduates felt special and appreciated. Education begins at home and thrives at a good school. HRS is that school. The school is not a joke and name calling the staff and instructors shows a lack of maturity. Bullying is an issue in all schools. Teaching kids to speak up for themselves and having the forthright to speak with parents directly is what will help solve this issue. Don't expect the school environment to be your personal baby sitter or hand holder. Life isn't fair and only one can solve their own problems.

It has been great seeing my children make new friends, learn the routine and integrate themselves into the school. They have been enjoying all of the electives such as Art, PE and Spanish, weekly chapel and cannot wait for the fun field trips as well as upcoming fun run! And the Class Dojo app, which should have been a simple communication tool, turned into something that felt more like Instagram. I eventually deleted it out of frustration. What's most troubling is the disconnect between what's preached and what's practiced. Faith is spoken, but not lived. As Matthew 7:20 reminds us, "By their fruit you will recognize them." Parents deserve to see the reality: behind the polished image, this school fosters hypocrisy and division, not the values it claims to uphold.

Kudos to the preschool program for making our child's early learning experience positive and enriching. We were very pleased with everything! Unfortunately, our experience following preschool did not meet the same standard. We observed a big shift in the approaches the school used. We had concerns about a lack of cultural sensitivity and limited willingness to engage collaboratively with parents. The disciplinary actions seemed developmentally inappropriate and punitive for young children still learning about social-emotional skills and impulsiveness. During meetings, we also encountered interactions with team members that felt dismissive and unpleasant. I lost faith in open, constructive conversations about our child's needs and progress. However, I think their academics were decent and appropriate for my child---my child performed well. Unfortunately, our child's teacher utilizes TikTok to post disparaging comments about parents. It was unprofessional and damaging to the sense of trust between them and us. My child's classroom environment also appeared overly focused on rule enforcement and behavior management through tools like ClassDojo. There was a lack of emphasis on teaching self-regulation or emotional growth. We hope the school will continue to build upon its strong preschool foundation and revisit its approach in kindergarten to support the holistic needs of its students better.
