If I can give ZERO stars I would...It saddens me to write such a negative review on Heavenly Dental when I used to be a patient back in the 1990's. Recently, I decided to go to them for a cleaning and a crown. I have to say Heavenly Dental has really changed in a negative way-from their staff to their services. I'll never return. After I got my crown, I was advised to get retainers to prevent my teeth from moving. After a few weeks, I noticed my teeth were doing the opposite of what they told me and started moving making food get stuck between my teeth. Since they told me to replace my retainers every 3 months, I assumed my teeth moving were part of the plan. I moved out of state for a few months when I decided to stop using the retainers and noticed my teeth closed back up to their original position. I decided to not use the last pair of the three retainers. I called the office to let them know what happened and I wanted a refund. To my shock, their new office manager Stephanie was extremely rude and made comments to insinuate that I was lying by interrogating me with absurd questions. She then rudely told me that I had a balance of $500 for my deep cleaning. I never received a call, letter or anything telling me this. Yet she's telling me almost a year later when I call to complain about the retainers. That visit from February 2025 should have been covered by my insurance and was. After speaking to my insurance, I found out that Stephanie was submitting some fraud work that I had actually paid cash for trying to bill my insurance and that is why they had not paid their portion. Stephanie was very immature by emailing me smart, and rude remarks back-and-forth. She insisted that I was told to return in three months-which I was not. It saddens me to know that Heavenly Dental has changed so much and Stephanie thinks she can just treat us Latinos in the community the way that she did especially when speaking to me on the phone. Not to mention the first time I went for my visit they had me waiting in the waiting room while I listened to them talk about me behind the desk like I wasn't there (about waiting for my insurance verification without letting me know why I was waiting so long). It's too bad because i will share my experience with friends and family. There are many dental offices here in San Fernando that I would advise you to go to if you don't want to go through a bad experience like I did at Heavenly Dental. read more

Care was as expected from the back office but after 3 times of my 6 year old son's filling falling out, they then determined to consider a crown. After 3 times of trying with different compounds and returning my son was traumatized and I decided to ask for another appointment to have him come in a little more relaxed. We showed up on the day of the appointment and the receptionist told me it was the day before and they called. I asked what number they had and it was a completely different number. I had the appointment written on my phones calendar and I did it at the time it was scheduled. She said it was not and she can reschedule for the following day. I went in the car and looked for the appointment card and lo and behold , the day of the appointment written on the card was for the day we were there. At this point I was furious and went to show the receptionist the day on the card. Not an apology or anything she just had this dumb look on her face like she knew she messed up. I should have read the reviews before we stepped foot in this facility. I am leaving 2 stars only because of the back office. They tried to help. read more

No I don't recommend them! They overcharge to Hispanics. There is no way for an entire deep cleaning with a copay to charge $600.00! Then talk people into applying for the credit they offer and then charge them more then what they originally said!!! Plus when you leave a Dentist office you are supposed to receive a receipt of all the work done. My Friend went there and they gave him no receipt of the work they completed. This place is ripping People off and needs to be Investigated! In fact until his daughter called who is a Dentist in another State called the office to advocate for her father they were rude to her! They didn't even give him a follow up appointment just tried to talk him into getting more work done. I used to love coming to thus dentist but not anymore since Dr Naffas is not there often. First issue, I had to get a filling refilled apparently. About 2 months later, after eating bread, the new filling falls off. I go to the dental office since I feel pain when cold touches the tooth. BAM, I am given an outrageous estimate of close to 2,000 for a crown. This office only offers the zirconia crown for some reason. I talk to the dentist and we settle for a lesser amount. Day of the appointment, they are trying to charge me full price again. After telling them that I am going to report them to the BBB, they accept the lesser amount. Luckily I don't have any problems with the crown. 2nd offense, they charge my spouse for a cavity ( supposedly insurance didnt cover for some reason???) A couple weeks later, the filling falls out after brushing his teeth. Spouse makes appointment only to be told he HAS to get a crown. No sorry let us fix the tooth, they want money. They even refused to refill the tooth until he told them he is reporting them. Why didn't they just simply tell him he needs a crown on that tooth before charging him for a filling? I have been coming here for years as well as my daughter since she was a baby. I have had my doubts with this place before, trust me. It's really hard to find a good Dentist. Reading these other reviews, I understand what most of them are talking BUT you have to look at the bigger picture. #1. All Dentists are expensive, but I like to think "you get what you pay for." Dr. Naffas is a highly experienced doctor and knows what he is doing. As for the prices, if you are open and honest with them about your financial situations, they will do their best to try and find an alternative solution. If it can't be met, they accept Care Credit. If you don't understand how insurance & coverage works, it's easy to put blame on the facility. But always double check with your insurance and the cost & ASK QUESTIONS. #2. The hygienist there is beyond patient. He recognizes anxiety and bares with you and explains EVERYTHING in detail until YOU'RE ready. Super nice and super patient. Their staff is always very friendly. I recently had a rare allergic reaction to a common medicine that puzzled everyone and I need a lot of work done, they went above and beyond to find me a long term treatment solution to avoid any risks. This experience had completely changed my mind about them and showed just how much they care for their patients. I trust Dr. Naffas and the Hygienist (I forget his name) completely. The only reason I rate them a 4 star is because, I wish they offered Saturday appointments. read more

Had a great experience in this professional office. Our family has been a patron to this dental office for years. Dr. Naffas and Partovi, have always taken good care of us, from check-ups to root-canals. Today we had a tooth extraction for our 9 year old. Dr. Sean Naffas made the experience painless and reduced the stress of my child, to near zero. Done! Before we knew what happened. What's better after pulling your teeth, Ice-cream of course and guess what! Baskin-Robbins is just next door. What could be better. In a short block there are 3-4 dental offices, but I would not give up on this office, so long as we have Naffas and Partovi taking care of us. read more

It is safe to assume that positive reviews of this dental agency are fake or from friends and relatives. I was in a bind and undergoing excruciating dental pain for several days but unable to get to the provider listed on my dental plan. I went to Heavenly Dental because it was the only dentist I could find at the time that was open from 12/25-01/02. I paid $55 cash for two ex-rays​ which took all of 5 minutes. Then the dentist told me I needed a root canal and handed me over to the dragon woman finance manager. $700 was what they wanted. All I could afford was $500. She refused to work with me and gave me a rude and haughty attitude. The following day I found another provider. Now Heavenly wants to charge me $25 to email a copy of the X-rays to the new provider. Additionally, they refused to work with me by faxing or emailing me a release form. I can only hope some situation in life puts them bind and they have to experience similar treatment when they aren't in a position of power. These people are sadly inhumane. The finance manager is a callous and heartless woman who I pray you never have the chance of meeting. read more

They don't answer any questions you have, the front desk girl she talks to her friends or boyfriend and giggling while you are waiting for answers. Reading the other reviews can be confusing. In my experience most dental insurance doesn't cover much and anytime you need anything beyond routine cleanings, it gets expensive. That being said, the staff at Heavenly Dental have been extremely transparent since day one. They gave us an estimate over a year ago before the pandemic hit, but they let us know it was just an estimate and emphasized they cannot give the actual cost until they talk to insurance. They took the time to call our insurance and follow up with us with the real pricing and gave us all of our options, from most expensive to least. I did ask several questions about the costs, so if you're concerned about price, just ask. They will tell you. The dental work got put on hold for the pandemic, but once my dad was able to get vaccinated, we went back to get the work done. The cost was exactly the same. On top of that they have been accommodating of his needs as an elderly patient. The women that work the front desk, the techs, surgeon and doctor have all been helpful and very nice. They actually all seem to care. As someone that doesn't trust most dentists, I'm glad we ended up here. read more

I couldn't be happier with this dentist! I have a history of bad dentist experiences. So much so that I stop going to dentists for 5 years. But with a cavity that needs a root canal, I had to find someone and do it. At the suggestion of a friend, I went to dr Naffas. He use pre-anesthetic knowing I freak out and so the needles were really painless. He didn't rush me, let me take my time. He has state of the art equipment (none of this X-ray machine nonsense, all computerized). Staff was kind. And since I had to pay out of pocket, he was very gentle on the pocket (I paid half what my last dentist charged). I read the other reviews, and quite frankly, most of them seem a little loco so I wouldn't put much stock in their reviews/rants. read more

I, too, am very surprised to see so many bad reviews. I have never had a problem with the work they have done to my teeth. The front desk girls have always been nice and so have the dental assistants, hygienists and dentists. Sure, Patty could be a little less intimidating but she has always answered my questions sooner or later...and ultimately, I have the power to say "No, I don't want that service"...end of story. Dr. Sean Naffas has always made me feel very comfortable and tries to make everything as painless as possible. During my wisdom teeth removal, he made sure I was okay and did what he could to make me feel less anxious. I have been coming here since 2010-2011, and don't plan to change anytime soon. I am really opposed to writing negative reviews (this is actually my first), but I feel a calling to spread this information. I am simply going to provide the facts and reviewers can make their own inferences. I went to heavenly because my insurance changed and my DDS of nearly 15 years did not cover my new insurance. I rarely ever get cavities, in the past 5 years I've had 1. When I went into heavenly dental they told me that I had 7 cavities and would need a deep cleaning, in total this would cost over aprx. $1,500. Note: My younger brother (age 5) and mother were also told they needed an expensive deep cleaning. Sadly, this occurred prior to my dental visit and my mother was not aware of the sketchy practices of this office and went through with the "deep cleanings." As young adult, recently out of college with a fairly low income I knew this is something I could not afford. Luckily, my best friend is in dental school and told me it would be wise to get a second opinion. I went back to my old DDS and thankfully he waived extra charges and charged me as if I was covered under insurance. It turned out I only had one very small cavity. The reason I am writing this post is because I don't want families, young children, or young adults such as myself to be manipulated into paying ridiculous amounts of money for dental work that is unnecessary and actually damaging to their teeth. If I listened to the dentist at Heavenly Dental I would've drilled 7 holes in my teeth for absolutely no reason. If you go here and have a great experience, that's awesome. If you go here and are told you have an absurd amount of cavities or need an expensive "deep cleaning," get a second opinion. Also, almost all dentists give "deep cleanings" as a routine part of 6 month cleaning, it is never an extra charge. PLEASE TAKE CAUTION :) read more

I do not recommend going here, let alone bring your children here. I took my kids here for the first time, many years ago. First off, it was kinda dirty but staff was pleasant. Had xrays then the Dentist came in for a minute stating my child had a cavity then left. The tech finished the rest of the initial visit.....the youngest tech ever. They did the filling that day, the dentist performed it. Soon after that visit, my child complained of pain in that area of her mouth. (No pain prior to visit) Since I wasn't happy with their services, I went to our previous dentist to see what was going on. The filling was not done well and needed to be redone. Paid out of pocket for it to be done correctly. I did call them and let them know what had happened. NEVER went back. read more

Your response is 100% inaccurate when I first met you and asked why you did bone graft on a 12 year old you told me you didn't do bone graft what you did was bone filling and that she didn't have bone loss. You added the bone filling so the gum can heal properly. Like i stated before bone graft is used when there is loss of bone. And i don't want to involve the orthodontist but since you want to bring him into this we have proof that this is clearly not what he told the legal guardian of my sister when asked about the bone graft. So that statement you made regarding him is not credible sorry. And we have contacted you several times and nothing has gotten resolved which is why we are choosing to go a different route with this issue. You are right patient education is an integral part of your job unfortunately you are not very good at it. And just to be clear you actually did not take the time to explain the procedure to my mother which is one of the main reasons we are very upset because of the way you went about it by forcing her into getting unnecessary treatment. A recommendation and being forced by saying you have to get it or i wont do the extractions is not the same thing did you not attend school to know the difference? And I'm important when i comment publicly on yelp but when i go to your office you neglect everything i say.You knew the difficult situation she was in and took complete advantage. Now i have more proof to contact HIPPA since you think its ok to be professional and go online to even mention a part of my sisters treatment. I decided to edit my review (which was originally 3 stars in December 2011) and have officially downgraded my rating to 1-star. I'll be nice enough to start with the pros: -Dental assistants were pretty nice -The dentist (Dr. Naffas) seemed to be a nice guy As for why this office deserves only 1-star? -It turns out the root canal may have not been done correctly, and this was confirmed by an endodontist. It was confirmed that there's some sort of piece they put in your tooth during root canals, and Dr. Naffas did not insert it down all the way. Considering what was paid out of pocket without insurance, this is unacceptable. -The office manager, Patty, is extremely rude, money-hungry, and difficult to deal with. It took her 2 weeks to give me a written estimate of the kind of work that needs to be done. Most dentists can have this for you the same day. I had to keep calling several times within a 2 week span to ask her for it, and only when I got pushy, did I finally get the estimate. And on another note, the estimate was WAY, WAY beyond what the new dentist has given me. -And the main reason this place only deserves 1-star: THEY REFUSE TO GIVE DENTAL RECORDS TO THE NEW DENTIST. I have called a few times only to be told that the office manager (Patty) is not there and will have to call back and approve it. It's odd that every time I call, she doesn't happen to be there, but every time we've gone there, she was always there. It seems to me that they're bitter that a customer is leaving, and refuse to give up the dental records. The new dentist's office has not had any luck working with Heavenly Dental either, and has not been able to obtain the dental x-rays and records even though Heavenly Dental is legally obligated to do so. This has been going on since late December 2011, and it is now almost February 2012. Do yourself a favor and find a better dental office to deal with that has a more competent office staff. read more

I'm sad to see these one star reviews! I have been a patient here for years..after having a root canal started without enough anesthesia(at a former dentist), and having other dentists not believe my resistance to pain medication, I have been left with a slight dental anxiety, on top of having bad genes and an autoimmune disease, I have a lot of dental issues. Dr Naffas and staff have ALWAYS been patient and kind with my treatments. Could I be being overcharged? Sure. Could I have more things done than necessary? Possibly. But I am not a dentist, nor an office manager to know. So, could those things happen anywhere? Absolutely. But I trust the staff at Heavenly Dental, and I will continue to do so until given reason not to.
