My husband and I chose Heavenly Gourmet to do the catering for our wedding on 5/01/16. The food and service exceeded our expectations. We received SO MANY compliments! Let's face it, most wedding food tends to be mediocre at best. That wasn't the case at our wedding! We decided on the Heavenly Baby Spinach Salad, the Heavenly Stuffed Chicken, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. We also included the Mac and cheese bar as a late night snack. All of the food was served fresh and hot. It was absolutely delicious!! We chose the buffet style versus the table services since we were on a budget. We were glad that they offered this option since it was very affordable. We made sure to order plenty of extra plates to cover the 250 guests and the vendors. We ended up with food left over so they kindly packed it up for us to enjoy later. I really appreciate the fact that they were also able to accommodate our request for bean and cheese nachos for the kiddos. We received positive feedback from the parents of the picky eaters. It's been six years since our wedding and we still salivate at the idea of enjoying our complimentary anniversary meal from there. We hired Heavenly Gourmet to cater our daughter's sweet 16. All our guests raved about the delicious food! We had chicken cordon bleu, garlic mash, and asparagus. We also got ice cream floats for a late night snack, and that was fun. The staff not only set up tables, chairs and linens, they even offered to help us set out centerpieces and candles. Leading up to the event we had to make several changes, but everyone was helpful and understanding. We even had to postpone the event twice because of Covid! Overall we were very impressed! When my daughters plans changed and we needed to downsize the wedding, I promptly notified them and requested a refund. This was more than 6 months before the wedding. I received a 30% return not if the deposit owed, but what I had paid. Beware - this is greed and greed never wins. Don't pay more than the bare minimum if you use them at all. I honestly do not know how this company has five star ratings on The Knot and Wedding Wire. Yes, they're cheap but cheap food that the majority of which ends up in the garbage because it is so bad is no bargain at all. Of what I had the DISpleasure of tasting, the roasted vegetables and the bite-sized roll were the ONLY edible things there. (See pictures.) It's a given that a tasting is where the catering company can showcase their absolute best and it's possible that because of the quantity needed for a large event, the quality may suffer at the actual wedding or event, at least a little. But if, starting out, they are this bad, why would anyone hire Heavenly Gourmet? The people that work there are nice and that's the ONLY reason I would have considered giving them a better star rating, but in the end, they just don't deliver the standards that any run-of-the-mill catering establishment should. Lastly, this establishment is in no way handicap accessible. It's a good thing my mother didn't end up coming with me because there would have been no way for her to climb the long, winding, stiflingly hot staircase above the Grady's Warehouse where Heavenly Gourmet is located. read more

We hired Heavenly Gourmet for our wedding on 3/16/24 and it was an amazing experience all around! From the setup of the tasting to the actual wedding day, it was AMAZING! We went with the Heavenly stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies, and we got so many compliments on it! That poblano cream sauce is to die for! They also gave us a military discount (husband is USMC), and they threw in a free mac and cheese bar as a late night snack if we booked within 72 hours. I called them a few weeks before our event and asked about appetizers because I hadn't figured out what to do for cocktail hour yet. They only charged for the actual appetizers, not extra fees for extra people or anything, and they were passed appetizers. They bring multiple people, so you don't have to worry about a thing. They helped with the cake cutting, they cleaned up plates and cups during and after dinner, and they even helped with venue clean up at the end of the night! This company goes above and beyond for their clients! I would 1000% recommend this company for your catering needs! They were easy to get a hold of whenever I needed anything, they were there on time, and stayed late! read more

I've never written a highly negative review before, but I want to warn others so they don't have to experience what we just did. We hired Heavenly Gourmet to cater our daughter's wedding because of how great the food was and how down-to-earth Loretta was when we first had a tasting. However, once we had committed to using them, everything went downhill. Each time we contacted them, they never had the right information about the menu we had chosen. They refused to answer the calls of our planner, so the bride had to call them to get questions answered (which is what we were paying for a planner to do). Trying to get the finalized contract out of them was a joke. They sent multiple versions and every one of them was incorrect. I can only assume incompetence since it was a very simple menu. As for the event, they served food that was good, and the food servers were friendly. That part alone would rate a couple more stars than I gave, although they were unprepared to serve our 250 guests quickly which made dinner take up a large part of the night. If I could give 5 negative stars, that is what I would give to the bartenders that Heavenly Gourmet provided. They knew how to hand out beer or pour wine, although they did not chill either the beer or white wine in time for the cocktail hour. They did not know how to follow the simple recipe we had written out for them for our signature Mojito cocktail. It is one of my husband's specialties and it was totally ruined by the bartenders. I tried to at least get them to add the lime written on the recipe, yet after telling them 3 separate times, they were still not adding it. Attended a wedding catered by this company. Heavenly gourmet was picked by the host because of the pricing, decent food, and for 4 hours of unlimited premium beer, wine, and spirits. The bar situation was a total fail. There were only two slow people tending bar, one seemed to move with a deliberate slowness and the other one was totally clueless - lacking knowledge and ability. Huge lines developed for drinks to the disappointment of the guests. The line persisted all night even after the initial rush. 1 hour into service they ran out of multiple spirits and even mixers. Meager reinforcements came too late and tons of negative comments were shared by guests due to the bar service. One of the agreed upon premium spirits was not present and was replaced by an undesirable subpar alternative. The groom requested his first drink of the night - but he ended up not drinking at all because they were out of his choice spirit. By no means did the hosts get their money's worth and ultimately this frustration detracted from the night's festivities. Food: Appetizers were very delicious - bacon wrapped chicken, beef tenderloin slider with horseradish, and a classic bruschetta. Salad was a bland mess and many went uneaten. Chicken cordon bleu entree was edible. Accompanying garlic mashed potatoes were garlic-less but the texture was pleasant. The host expressed displeasure with the service and requested a partial refund due to the bar service. The owner of the company has no consumer service skills, offered an insultingly low refund amount, and continuously raised idle threats of action through her lawyer whose expense she would expect the unsatisfied hosts to pay for!! Friends of the hosts told a similar tale of terrible customer service from Heavenly Gourmet at a prior event, unfortunately they didn't hear this terrible tale until it was too late. Their story involved a canceled wedding for which HG had already been paid. A graduation was to be catered by HG in place of the wedding... Well HG never showed up!! We hired HG for our wedding 4 weeks ago. We decided to go with them because we had a great time at the food tasting-- the sample foods were delicious and sophisticated looking. The stuffed chicken and pecan crusted chicken were our top choices and eventually chose the pecan crusted chicken. Also, they added a late night snack bar for free when we signed up. However, when the night of the wedding came, the food we received for the dinner was lukewarm to cold and looked dull. Not close to what we experienced at the tasting. Some of the guests told us they still had ice crystals on their chicken. We told the supervisor that was there at the reception about the issue and was quick to make sure the late night snack (Mac and cheese) was hot. The mac and cheese was delicious. Everyone loved it. We were waiting to see if HG would reach out to us about our experience, but they haven't yet. read more

We had the brisket and chicken (heavenly mac and cheese and pinto beans) for our wedding and I had so many wedding guests compliment that it was some of the BEST BBQ THEY'VE EVER HAD. They are easy to work with. Choosing which menu I wanted was so difficult but only because everything was so delicious! I first purchased a different menu but once they added BBQ, I asked if I could switch because that was what I originally wanted. They let me switch with no issues. **Brides beware!** This catering has amazing reviews and their Instagram looks great but it's all a facade! They have ruined my wedding experience as if it wasn't already tainted by COVID-19. First of all I had limited options of catering companies and of course I trusted the reviews since my fiance and I live in California for his medical residency and couldn't meet in person. Once COVID-19 hit, my wedding date in September 2020 needed to be postponed due to travel restrictions in California and restrictions given by the hospital my fiance works for (he's a doctor who works with patients in ICU) as well for safety of our family and friends. I reached out to the catering company and explained that I will need to postpone to June 2021 and they said they would work with me and they sounded understanding but little did I know that this would not be the case. Then, I was blindsided when my venue went out of business cancelling my June 2021 date and notified me that my wedding would not be happening. So, I reached out to the catering company to let them know the Pearl Stable went out of business and cancelled all future events. When I asked them if I could cancel with them as well they refused to give me any of $6,000 deposit back even though that quote included the 20% Pearl Stable venue fee. I've had to hire a high profile female attorney who had to deal with their sexist attorney who called her hysterical when she was simply stating the facts about the contract. So now I do not feel comfortable booking anything after this or having a remote wedding as each state has their own restrictions and we cannot see what the future holds with COVID-19. Brides please be very cautious with who you book. These companies say they are understanding and supporting healthcare workers but this is not the case at all from what I have had to go through with this company. read more

The Short: Simply the BEST wedding catering you're going to find in San Antonio, for any range of budget. The Long: A friend recently married recommended HG as a caterer, and my Matron of Honor and I (Fiance and I were long distance) decided to check it out. Meeting Perla was like reuniting with a family friend you haven't seen in years. She clearly runs this business from her whole heart, and her style of doing things shows in every manner of the service provided. She brought out the salad choices and entree options, and sides, and would you believe they are absolutely completely DELICIOUS. A few months down the road, my Fiance was able to come visit, and she arranged another tasting and allowed us to make tweaks to the menu to fit our specific tastes. Since she knew I rarely got to see my Fiance, she set it up with a candle and music and made it like a date for the both of us, the sweetest thing ever. The food we went with was the greek salad and the Heavenly chicken, just gorgeous and delicious!!! What I was most impressed with, was the PORTION SIZES. Anyone that has been to any wedding knows, you need to eat before because the food at a wedding won't be enough to fill you up. Not with Heavenly!!! Even at the day of my wedding, I was thrilled with the portion sizes on everyone's plates, and that they already had plates (at no additional cost) set aside for all my vendors, and to-go plates for me and my new husband!!! The service was excellent, tidy, friendly, and discreet. The food was delicious - chicken was tender and moist, filled with a tasty goat cheese and black forest ham filling and breaded with some amazingness, topped with a sauce, the potatoes and vegetables were wondrous, and even the salad and rolls were filling. How could you NOT love this place!? They offer so many different options between china/acrylic, you are able to fit things into whatever your price range is. They also offer linens, and though we didn't book linens for our wedding, can tell they absolutely know what they're doing. I was so excited to have you to be the caterer for my wedding before I met with you and your family at the Bridal Extravaganza. However I am saddened to say that I will not be having your services because of one of your employees. My fiancé and I were ecstatic when we went in last month to try out your food and meet with with staff. Yet we felt rushed, and not taken seriously when being served by Julie. She rushed through the tasting, and did not try to offer any alternatives when we asked for other side options. When I got my 1 1/2 week later call to see if I was going with y'all it seemed very unprofessional when she stated "so are you going with us or did you find someone else, what's going on?" I had mentioned that another company offered a weekday discount (since my wedding is on a Monday) and she chuckled and said "WELL, food is the same price no matter what day of the week". She said she was going to call me back if she got an offer. The next day I got a phone call (from Julie) the moment I answered the phone she said "sorry wrong number" and hung up. 30 mins later I got an email from her saying that she couldn't do anything for me and she recommends I go with the other caterer. I felt like my business was not welcomed when I spoke with her. I feel a business should not be represented this way, and I'm sure you do not either. From being super excited to have Heavenly Gourmet cater my wedding, I will now hands down avoid your services if this is a preview of what my wedding night will be like. When I went to the open house for what would become my wedding venue, Heavenly Gourmet was one of the caterers there. I ran to try their food after hearing so many positive things about them. They did NOT disappoint. We booked them right away and it was one of the best decisions of our wedding. We wound up going with the Heavenly Stuffed chicken and Feta Basil mashed potatoes. We are STILL getting compliments on how great our food was. We had left overs and even ate them for lunch AND dinner the next two days and fought over the last plate! BOOK HEAVENLY GOURMET!!!! I used Heavenly Gourmet for my wedding last month and they did a great job. I chose them because the pricing was good and the food at the tastings I went to was fantastic- I wanted Italian and they were able to give me multiple pasta dishes which was perfect. The staff stays the entire event and cleans up which is really nice. My only complaint is that one of the pasta dishes I chose was really really bland the day of the wedding. I really liked it when I had it before so maybe it just doesn't transport well- but I would recommend staying away from the garden primavera dish. But, the penne a la vodka and stuffed chicken were both fantastic so no one starved. Everyone complimented us on the food too-especially the chicken. read more

They have gold star customer service and their food is equally as good. They can prepare large quantities of food and have the last plate served taste as good as the first plate. One of our main concerns was having enough food (the year before everyone went home hungry). The entire planning staff at HG worked to make sure all our needs were met: Perla, Victoria, Sabine - all professional, considerate, and kind. The food was excellent...and plentiful! We had Heavenly Chicken and Pecan Crusted Chicken, vegetables, potatoes, and more. The servers were efficient and thoughtful. The bartender, Joe, was great. I would give 3.5 stars if I could....But rated high rather than low because the staff was great. They catered a wedding for one of my clients last weekend. The food was decent (not great, but good considering that they had to transport it over an hour and keep it warm for another hour and a half after it was cooked), the 2 employees working the event were knowledgeable and quick. They did a WONDERFUL job at the event. However, the company hired a staffing company for the additional 3 employees needed to service the event and their employees were TERRIBLE. If I had the name of the staffing company, I would leave a negative review for them because their employees were terrible. 1 was worse than the other 2 (by far) but they were all slow, couldn't stay on top of the minimal tasks that they were hired to do, didn't bus tables, didn't help serve water to the guests, had to be told multiple times what to do and how to do it....they delayed food service about 20 min longer than should have been because they were clueless and lazy. read more
