Booking my appointment was super easy and the owner was very helpful and offered treatments for my neck pain. The spa is clean, warm, inviting, and pretty! I could barely tell I was in a strip mall. When I came in I was greeted nicely and given water and a heat wrap for my painful neck. The masseuse was very personable and welcoming. I really enjoyed my hour long session, in which I finally able to relax and clear my head something you can't put a price on. I was looking for a new massage place and this, the first place I tried, fit the bill and I don't think I even need to shop around for comparison. I don't get massages all that often, maybe 2x/year, but it's nice to know that I have a reliable and satisfying spa now. The massage was gentle (which is what I was going for) and relaxing. There was a brief period when we could hear the people in the room next door which was distracting but fortunately very brief. Unfortunately, I have to give this place a 3. My first massage on a Groupon went very well. Annie was great, and she's the reason why this isn't a 2. I bought another Groupon a few months later (I CHECKED specifically to see if there's first-time-customer-only language, and there was NOT). I called and was told it's for first-time customers. My neck and back were screaming out for some relief, but relief was not to come. A few weeks later, I called back to see if we could work this out. I just spoke to the woman. She insisted that it WAS in the fine print, as "Limit 1 per person, may buy 1 additional as a gift" and said defensively, "it's there, that's what it means." But that is STANDARD language in any Groupon I've ever gotten. It means you can only buy up to 1 Groupon at a time, and get 1 more as a gift. It DOES NOT mean first-time-customers only. Anyhow, I wasn't going to haggle with the owner if she didn't want to give me a freaking massage! She said I could still use the Groupon but basically it'd be the straight up value, which is only fair and standard practice already incorporated by Groupon--but she made it sound like that would be doing me a huge favor. I would've done it if I didn't get off the phone feeling like I'd been played. Face it, she should've put the proper language in the Groupon. I was looking for a place in the area to go for a quick massage. It was needed after a long stressful week of work. Read the review and decided to give them a try. I made a appointment though yelp and they called me back to confirm it. They also followed up with an e mail. I had two actually one said 2:30 and the other said 2:45. I figured I would come at 2:30 just to be safe. It was easy to locate for me because I am rather familiar with the area. There was ample parking in the strip mall where it is located. Its on the second level which can be accessed via a stairwell or elevator. The waiting area it small but there wasn't anyone else in there at the time of my appointment. I would assume they schedule so they only have a few appointments at a time to prevent it from being to crowded. After filling out a release for and questionnaire I was taken to a relaxation room. I spend about 15 minutes in there before I was taken into the massage room. I was getting the 60 min Swedish massage. It was a great massage and my therapist asked me where to focus and how much pressure. Over all it was a great massage for the value. Tammy offered the perfect pressure to my trouble spots. She was friendly and knowledgeable. The massage was not as relaxing as some of my previous experiences, but it relieved a great deal of tension from my neck and shoulders. It appears that Tammy is the owner and she was very busy, but I do wish that my massage began at my appointment time as opposed to about 20 minutes late. I had a great experience. Called to schedule a massage because I was utilizing a groupon purchased. Weekday availability was flexible, but if you're interested in scheduling for the weekend, it' seems pretty booked solid so plan ahead. One thing I did find odd was the fact I wasn't asked beforehand if I had a preference regarding the gender of my masseuse, which wasn't a big deal really, but felt a moment of discomfort when I was assigned to a male without headsup. They also close hours before their posted closing time. I asked for the masseuse to focus mostly on my back, and he successfully kneaded out all tension and knots with steady and consistent pressure. The music playing in the background was entrancing, so peaceful!! Such a relaxing and rejuvenating massage, and he even went over the time a little. Afterwards there was a complementary 15 min session by a reiki artist who was there for the day. Use a groupon code and go here for stress relief... The space itself felt somewhat dated and the sheets felt kind of old. Despite music and a noise machine, I could very easily hear conversations in the next room. This was very distracting! I bought 2 groupons and scheduled two massages for the same time this evening. I scheduled the massages last week over the phone and spoke to an elderly woman who made the appointments. We arrived tonight for the massages and immediately were told that I only signed up for one massage on-line. I politely corrected the male gentleman, Kenny, who was very professional, and he reassured us that this wasn't an issue. He went to the back room to figure out the situation and immediately we hear a female complaining and demanding that she would only do one massage. My boyfriend and I heard this and I immediately went up to Kenny and offered to reschedule if this was an inconvenience to them. We had no problem returning at another time. Kenny remained very pleasant and reassured us this was not a problem. Shortly after, Kenny took us to our separate rooms. FORTUNATELY I had Kenny perform my massage. He was wonderful! Very pleasant and the massage was perfect. I wish I could say the same for my boyfriend. He unfortunately got the angry woman named Tammy. 15 minutes later she walked in and immediately complained that I only schedule one appointment. (Kenny, by the way started immediately after I was brought into the room). Then after just 5 minutes, the woman ran out of lotion and disappeared for another full 5 minutes to find her lotion. When she returned, the massage took place which my boyfriend said was nice. Then she escorted my boyfriend out to the waiting room where he continued to wait for another 20 minutes for me! She came out and made a statement saying not to worry, Kenny goes over the hour all the time. My massage was one hour exactly. Overall, I feel like the groupon was a good deal solely on the fact that I had Kenny perform my massage. I bought this groupon as a surprise for my boyfriend because he had injured his back recently. If I had known Tammy would be so unprofessional I would have never chose this location or groupon. When I called to make the appointment, I told them I had a Groupon, gave them the code, and requested a female massage therapist. All fine. I arrived, and was at once greeted by a very artificial flowery scent. It was very strong, and instantly put me in a foul mood. The extremely friendly young man at the front desk called me Eileen (grr), asked me for my Groupon number and told me that he would be my massage therapist. I corrected him on the name pronunciation, told him that I had already given my Groupon number over the phone and that I had requested a female massage therapist. He said, "oh, okay" and went to get said female massage therapist. When she came to get me she didn't introduce herself, she didn't extend her hand, she didn't ask me my name, nothing. I apparently was just another body on the massage conveyor belt. The massage itself was okay, but it's pretty standard procedure to warm up the lotion in your hands before applying it to the client. She didn't. It wuz COLD. I finally asked her to, and she did it once or twice but then stopped and went back to applying it cold. So not relaxing. She asked me when I had my last massage, and she said something like well that's not enough! You need more! And I'm thinking, I just paid $26 for an hour massage because that is all my budget will allow. Why don't we be honest and admit that it is *you* who actually needs me to come in more? At one point she left the room to greet her next client, and must've asked what my name was because she came back and said, "Sorry, Eileen." Grr. After it was over, I made a beeline through the lobby, but not without her asking me if I was relaxed ("eh").... and would I like to leave a tip? The therapist herself asking me if I'd like to leave her a tip. That's balls. A massage therapist friend and I were laughing recently about how clients often call the massage table a "bed" and when clients leave a tip on the "bed," he said it makes him feel like a whore. I signed up for an hour long couples massage with my girlfriend and I. It was one of the best massages I've ever received. I asked my therapist to focus just on my back and she did a really good job identifying and working out my knots. The couples massage room is essentially two rooms side by side with a door that opens up in the middle. It's just far enough to where you can't really see or talk to the other person you're in there with. The beds are heated and feel amazing. The use of heated cherry pit things were nice too. I got the hot towel treatment add-on. It was ok. They are wet and got cold kind of quickly which didn't match well with the cooling feeling of the icy hot they use after the towels. However, my girlfriend got the foot scrub add-on and she said it felt very good and her legs were really smooth afterwards. She said she wished her therapist had spent more time on her back though. She felt too much time was spent on the rest of the body and by the time she got to the back at the end of the routine she ran out of time so her back didn't get worked very well. I give this place a 5 stars for my experience but have to drop it to 4 because of my girlfriends experience. I would highly recommend this place. Purchased a groupon for a 60 minute customized massage with reflexology and cold stone facial massage, valued at $90. When I called to make the appointment I spoke with Tammy the owner. As I am expecting she said that I would only be able to get a prenatal massage, which is $75. However, I would have to pay the difference between what I paid for the groupon and the prenatal massage (an additional $30), despite the value of the prenatal massage being $15 less. I have gotten multiple massages during my pregnancy (and have used groupons for them a number of times) with massage therapists licensed in prenatal massage. It has never been an issue. When I purchased this groupon I had read on the website the description of the customized massage which states "Tailored to each individual clients needs and objectives, incorporates different modalities." One would logically assume that would include prenatal massage. Hence I purchased the groupon. But upon calling I discovered I would not be able to use the groupon despite the cost being lower as Tammy is the ONLY massage therapist at Heavenly Hands that is certified in prenatal massage and thus able to do it. What disappoints me most is the lack of customer service the owner was willing to provide. Tammy did in fact inform me that she has an availability today. However, she refused to allow me to use the groupon to schedule a massage with her without having to pay additionally. If she truly cared about pleasing a potential client she would have booked me for her open appointment time. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is that I do appreciate the fact that she cares to practice safely and not subject pregnant clients to possible injury by scheduling them with not appropriately trained therapists. Although she actually stated that it's a liability issue--so truly she's doing it to cover her ass (CYA). However, what would make more sense would be for her to hire more broadly trained massage therapists who can provide a wider range of services to all their clients. I'm very disappointed. read more

I want to ensure that credit is given where credit is due. I had previously been to HEAVENLY HANDS @ the Catonsville Wellness Center (#2 East Rolling Crossroads, suite 157 Catonsville, MD 21228) a couple years ago. I had some serious knots in my back that were very painful. I had several massages with Charnette Davis. She is absolutely AHHHHHHHMMMAAAZZZING!!! She had asked me if I had any trouble areas or if I wanted her to focus on any particular area. She also asked about the amount of pressure I would like applied for my massages and checked with me throughout the process to ensure my comfort. Because my knots were so deep she had to work very hard to get them out. And she did!!! It had been such a long time that I hadn't been in constant pain. It was great. Silly me though because I didn't continue to see her to provide maintenance on my back. Fast forward to today and my knots seem to be worse than ever. (Keep in mind it's been about two years) So what did I do? I scheduled an appointment with what I THOUGHT was HEAVENLY HANDS (Charnette) when in reality I scheduled it with HEAVENLY HANDS REJUVENATION (730 Frederick Rd. Suite 206 Catonsville MD 21228) aka THE IMPOSTERS!!! So I booked my appointment online, making sure to enter all of the pertinent information required including my phone number in the event a conflict arose. I booked my appointment for 7 PM on Friday because I had to work, wasn't going to be available on Saturday and remembered Charnette does not work on Sunday (again the imposters using her company name also being located in Catonsville I was none the wiser). I received my confirmation email. I went home and changed to get ready for my appointment (I live in Laurel...this is the DC metro area AND it's FRIDAY - 95 is a parking lot). I get to HEAVENLY HANDS 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment - A miracle for me because I feel like I'm never on time for anything! And I wait. And I wait some more. The staff at heavenly hands was very welcoming and friendly. It is very quiet and they have soothing music lightly playing in the background. They asked with whom did I have my appointment, and they called Charnette to see if she was on her way... Well to my utter dismay and quite frankly disgust, I was informed that I had been duped...hoodwinked...bamboozled if you will. I had booked with the imposters. By this time I was already late for that appointment and I was thinking "screw it, I don't want to lose my $100 for being a no show so I call them to find out where they are located. To add further insult to injury, they told me AT THE TIME I CALLED THEM that they are BOOKED for the evening with a private party, and that they had tried to contact me! I call BS on that because my phone never rang, I have NO voice message NOR do I have an email!!!! I was asked if I wanted to reschedule, but I declined! My massage therapist was Annie. She was sweet and friendly. She greeted me with a neck pad made with cherry pits. Pretty cool and comfortable. I will say that I have never gone to get a massage and inside of the room with the door closed and music on a volume that can even be heard outside of the room have someone slide a note under the door to ask that I speak lower while I'm talking to the massage therapist inquiring about other massage services and cupping that they offer (basically thinking about coming back if there are other services I'd like to get from the business ) and being asked to keep my voice down because another client thinks I'm talking too loud! Unprofessional and if the rooms aren't sound proofed enough to be able to keep out sound which was not that loud for a minute or two of talking then you need to insulate the rooms better and Not ask a potential recurring client to keep their voice down while talking . He was very professional, kept checking in with me, and used several therapeutic techniques during the massage. I came here using a Groupon that included a 60min massage and one add on service of my choice which was aromatherapy, extra minutes on my massage or the cold stone facial. Since I had never received a facial massage before I chose that. Finding this place was a bit difficult because it is in a shopping center on the third floor in the corner. I arrived a little late because I got lost finding it but the staff member who ended up being my masseuse was very nice. On entrance the massage parlor looks small. Like a tiny living room. They had a couch by the front desk where you fill out paperwork concerning your needs. I was offered water while waiting for my room to be set up. As I walked back to my room I saw some very interesting rooms. One was decorated to look like a galaxy and the quiet relaxing room was dark and beautifully decorated. This got me excited to see what room I would get. Once I walked in I was not as impressed. The room I recieved was hot and had a window with a lot of construction noise outside. This really toom away from the dark, quiet and relaxing atmosphere I was hoping for. I was instructed to take my clothes off down to my underwear and get under the covers on the massage bed. The bed was not very comfortable and it was heated. It was already hot outside and hot in the room in spite of the fan so I asked for the heated bed to be cut off. But about the massages...the cold stone massage was AMAZING!!! It was actually to large, cold, smooth marbles that she rubbed simultaneously over my face. It felt so good and really relaxed me. Plus it cooled me down because it was so hot. The actual massage was very detailed. She worked the neck, arms, legs, feet and then my back. It was nice but I will admit I have had better massages. I wish she had a heavier hand. I expected a deep tissue massage. The was much lighter but still felt nice. I opted for a female masseuse but males are available as well. This is one where the stars fall out the sky solely due to the business, not the service. I contacted this business armed with a Groupon and a couple back kinks to work out. I initially had a Saturday appointment but cancelled that earlier in the week over the phone when I spoke with an older woman (her name escapes it, but from the reviews regarding an unpleasant disposition I believe it was Tammy). I made my new appointment for Tuesday and told the lady I'd take the 5pm slot. She advised me to try to get there a little early if I could because they are booked to the max. I told her I was coming from downtown in rush hour so would try but would definitely be there by my appointment time. I received an email confirmation and accepted for what I thought was the time that I agreed to. On the day of I get a frustrated call from my masseuse, Molly, at 4:50 stating that I was late for my appointment and my time would be cut down on my massage. I kindly advised her that my appointment was to be for 5pm and I was right around the corner. Molly put me on hold for several minutes then someone hung the phone up. I called back & the older lady answered and (without apology for the hang up) stated that she sent me the email and I confirmed for 4:45. Now here is the part where I take partial blame because I didn't pay attention to the fact that she CHANGED my appointment time from when I told her to an earlier time. But when you make a reservation, you expect it to be for when YOU agreed, not for when the business PREFERS you to be there to make it easier for them. Last time I checked, I was still paying for this massage. Fast forward to when I got there, I filled out a brief questionnaire and went to the back with Molly where we found that there wasn't a room available for me and I proceeded to watch Molly walk into a room and begin stripping down the sheets to make up the massage bed. Now if (contrary to my spoken arrangement) EXPECTED me to be there at 4:45, why wasn't my room there awaiting me? Finally after several minutes and some stumbling around confusion by the older lady, a different room was found and made available. Clearly at this point both Molly and myself were heavily frustrated. Molly sat down to began the service but I explained to her I had an add-on so she got back up to get it but not without some added frustration. My massage however was wonderful, Molly had a firm but just right approach. Unfortunately, my massage was (guess?) cut short to end at 5:45 which technically wasn't even 45 minutes given that I didn't have a room prepared. I was extremely disappointed with this and on top of that because I advised Molly prior to the massage that my neck and upper back were trouble areas but she had me lie face down LAST which doesn't make sense if she knew she was ending my massage early. Despite the mixup due to the older woman and Molly having to shorten my massage, I still went to the desk to offer Molly a gracious tip for my service (as my Groupon paid for the massage). To my disgust, Molly wasn't the slightest bit grateful nor did she offer a thank you for my tip. Consider this my first AND last time going to this place.
