My newer refrigerator wouldn't maintain the internal temperature and so when I called this place for service I was pleased a repairman (the *owner* as it turns out) could show up promptly. He fiddled about a bit and couldn't really pinpoint the problem with my input, so I called my husband because he had a better idea of what was failing. The repairman spoke with him and told my husband he planned on pulling the main control board and replacing it. My husband asked if the guy had run the diagnostics on the board yet. That's it. A simple question. Old dude went postal. Seriously. Started ranting how he doesn't need anyone to tell him how to do his job and said shouted "Find someone else!" and stomped off. It was really quite incredible to watch. Old dude has some speed on him! My husband and I talked it over and we figured the guy probably didn't know how to run the diagnostics, which is why he was skipping that fairly common/reasonable step. Of course that would up my costs considerably since maybe the uber-expensive board wasn't the problem, but hey, it saves him the embarrassment of admitting he doesn't know how to work with the newer refrigerators... Conclusion: Avoid this "business" unless you have money and time to burn. UPDATE: Received a call from a co-owner who said the repair guy was only associated with the repair portion of the business. The co-owner stated the parts portion of the business is separate. ADDITIONAL UPDATE: Called a certified GE appliance repair person who arrived promptly with a very sophisticated computer which diagnosed that our thermistor was faulty. The thermistor was a $14 part. The main control board ($200+) was fine. read more

Our dryer went out in mid-December so I looked up repair places and found Heberts Appliance Solutions close to where we live. The person answering the phone was professional and polite. Paul showed up on time a few days later and in less than an hour my dryer was running and ready to go. Paul put my appliances back, cleaned up the dryer lint and was on his way. It was a great 1st experience. About a month later our refrigerator/freezer started acting up. The appliance is about 13 years old and I wasn't sure if it was worth spending money to repair. So I called Heberts. Paul looked up the model and asked a few questions then told me the life span for this model is 12 - 14 years and they weren't making parts for it any longer. I have used Hebert's numerous times for parts to repair my clothes washer, dryer, and other appliciances. These guys really know appliances and have a vast array of parts at the ready. They have saved me hundreds, no... THOUSANDS of dollars in repairs and potentially replaced appliances just because I can walk in there and get parts and advice for tens of dollars (or 5 bucks in some cases!), go home and fix it myself. I just had this experience today. My clothes washer agitator quit working. I quick read on YouTube identified the likely cause as "agitator dogs". A quick call to Hebert's confirmed it. But the most outstanding thing is that they always HAVE the parts, IN THEIR HAND, and they are always the RIGHT parts. Imagine being without your clothes washer for a weekend or a whole week while you wait for a repair service or for parts to come through the mail. Then imagine, instead, picking up the parts at Hebert's and having your machine fixed in 20 minutes for 5 dollars. This place is the kind of knowledgable A+ repair and service-oriented business that I didn't think still existed. And when one of my appliances does finally get too old to repair, you can bet I will buy it's replacement from these guys. read more

Super happy with my experience with Herbert's. Went in after finding an ad for a portable dishwasher on Craigslist and unlike a lot of "dealer" Craigslist ads, they actually had the item advertised. Paul came out, examined our dryer and determined the control board had to be replaced. He did not have one with him, which we understood. He told us he would see if he could find one and would call us the next day to schedule a time for him to return. It's been a week. We haven't heard a thing. Great price, helpful, kind folks who work here. Paul delivered a washing machine to my house and then helped move it down by crazy 1910 basement stairs -- didn't charge much at all for the delivery. He also knew exactly the one that was right for me when I called in the first place. It's the nicest washing machine I've ever had and didn't cost too much. I would definitely recommend these guys. I had a truly wonderful experience buying and receiving service on a washer and dryer that I bought from Paul Hebert. Not only did he come and install it himself, but he also came out on 5 separate occasions to look at the water level (my floor is slanted so it wasn't even the fault of the Washer that I bought.
