Follow up on my 4/9/26 old dryer repair. Chris came back after needing another part and having trouble prying off a bolt (which he took with him and worked on at his OWN home with his tools). Chris came back on 4/14/26 and fully assembled the dryer and got the old Maytag working great with a new motor and blower. No extra charges for the visit/labor. Also he checked my dishwasher and showed me how to clean the food trap and did a quick inspection. Excellent service and we really like Chris and Stellar Appliance Repair! I am old school and do not like discarding and buying new - Chris can work with older mechanical appliances and give you his best opinion on whether to save or replace. read more

Good response time | Chris lacks competency We had a mysterious leak with our washer. I would think this warrants an in-person assessment. However, after calling up Chris, he was reluctant to come and take a look at our issue when we described to him we came home to a leak. He had my husband try to diagnose the washer and still couldn't give us any idea what could be the problem. Meanwhile, we weren't using our washer for a little over a week, and we're a young family with laundry piling up. So, we were hoping to get him to come take care of our leak asap. Instead of waiting on Chris, we went with someone else who responded quickly and came out to look at our leaky washer. He even knew what the issue was after describing it to him over the phone. He fixed our issue in 10 minutes. Another Yelp review was about a loud knocking sound in a spin cycle, which Chris diagnosed in person. It just seems like he is picking and choosing which client he sees. Bottomline: If your issue is with a washer, don't rely on this person. Chris didn't do a Stellar job. read more

Proof of a good business is in return customers. We had occasion to need Chris Glidwell's services for our refrigerator's ice maker. I thought to have him take a look at a couple other appliances when he came out to make the trip truly productive for us. He diagnosed our washer with a worn bearing, gave an estimate, breaking down the parts cost, his labor, and other ancillary charges. This gave me the tools to decide to replace the washer versus living with a noisy bearing during the spin cycle. He also diagnosed our dryer not completely getting everything dry on a normal cycle with a normal load. With a little common sense, he gave a few great solutions. Oh, my goodness. Stellar is simply amazing! We have used Stellar twice: (1) in 2020, when our dishwasher, washer and ice-maker were on the fritz; and (2) in December of 2023, when our stand-up freezer decided to die. In 2023, he also gave us great advice on if we should repair our kegerator, and what to do with a dryer that had a discontinued part. We were INCREDIBLY PLEASED both times. What we love: --Chris is (at least of this writing) a one-man show. That means you'll always get to work with him--an incredible privilege in an era when many companies have a bazillion fairly untrained techs. --Chris really knows his stuff. In 2023, he diagnosed the issue with our stand-up freezer over the phone, and was therefore able to pre-order the necessary part. He had also researched the issue with our dryer before we met with him. --Chris is very honest about if you should bother repairing an item or not. In some cases, he'll say--yes, do it! In other cases, he'll say that you will likely be happier simply replacing the item. --Chris is happy to educate homeowners on fixes, maintenance, etc. He will even tell you good brands to buy if you need to replace your item. They diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate to fix my dishwasher and then suggested I call to make sure I didn't have a warranty on it since it was a gift from the in-laws a year ago. Chris was truly amazing in his visit and was kind, fast, efficient, informative, and inexpensive. He came to fix our 15+ year old LG washer, which had started to make some truly awful clunking noises, and we were afraid we'd have to replace it. Instead, Chris fixed it quickly and easily (a shock absorber had come apart) and he even offered several tips about other maintenance issues that might come up in our model. He showed me where to look for those problems, how to replace the part, how much the part would cost, and even offered to look up part numbers if I had trouble finding it. Who even does that kind of attentive service anymore? The consistent string of 5 star reviews for Chris are no joke. Of any service professional I've ever worked with for any type of repair or work on anything, nobody has come close to the level of service and honesty Chris delivers. I called him based on the reviews I read when our fridge went out for the 4th time. We had a home warranty that sent out multiple techs and they never fixed the issue, sometimes going weeks without a working fridge. I got tired of waiting and called Chris who came out, diagnosed the issue in what felt like minutes and fixed the fridge. When I had a separate issue with it down the road I called him again and rather than charging me a visit, he actually took the time to talk me through a couple things to try over the phone that ended up fixing the issue. Not only that, but we had to come back down to SoCal for awhile to help out my mother-in-law who bought a refurbished fridge from a shop down here. When it started having issues within a week and I didn't trust what the shop was telling me I called Chris, sent him some pics and he took the time to again talk me through some things to try and also some recommendations on how we should proceed with the shop here to make sure my mother-in-law didn't get taken advantage of. He came and fixed our fridge for a reasonable price (as you would expect)--but where he really impressed was when we had to call him back a few weeks later regarding a loud noise our fridge was making. Chris at Stellar is an outstanding diagnostician. I had a weird water leak in my refrigerator. Chris gave me the first figure-it-out instructions over the phone a few hours later. When he got here (typically, among the fastest of repair technicians), he was able to identify the cause and fix it quickly.
