I got scheduled in relatively quickly (I had to wait on the order of three months back with my PCP in the Bay Area), within about a month of when I called, and the wait for the doc wasn't too horrible either when physical day came around. Sociable and friendly doc who didn't seem to be rushing through patients, and took the time to answer the numerous questions I had. I also appreciated that he took extra steps to see if he could do anything about things like my occasional heartburn, and even humored me with my request to get weighed (being in a wheelchair, I haven't gotten weighed in about eight years, but he actually lifted me up onto a scale to weigh me - major points for doing that).

I called after work yesterday (4:40PM, Wednesday) and asked about setting an appointment for my yearly physical. While I dread the inevitable PAP smear, I'd totally deal with a little bit of discomfort to make sure my lady-parts are working like they should. I had visited their clinic last year, had my physical and the year mark was coming up so I thought I'd set the appointment early before my children's summer activities kicked into gear. I spoke with an older lady on the phone, asked to set an appointment for my yearly physical and asked what times were available, preferrably as soon as she can get me in. She told me the soonest appointment she can set for my physical was Thursday at 8:30am. I asked if there was anything else closer to the end of the business day and unfortunately, no there isn't. Great. I asked if there was anything available closer to the lunch hour and she said Friday at 11:30am. She asked me if I wanted to set the physical for that date/time but I told her I needed to check with my job first to make sure I had some time off for it. I told her I'd call back tomorrow to set the appointment, asked for her direct line and she told me anyone would be able to set the appointment for me. I called back today (Thursday), after getting the thumbs up from work to set the appointment. I get this snide receptionist who says there isn't an opening on Friday at 11:30am. I tell her about my situation, how I spoke with some older lady yesterday and she gave me available appointments for the physical, etc. She scoffs and says "sorry no, there aren't any physicals available at that time". OK! So.. Long story short, we had a circular conversation about what I was told when I called in yesterday and how it wasn't her problem that I was told that since SHE didn't tell me that information herself. She asked me who I spoke to and I told her I never got the lady's name because I didn't think I'd have to defend myself and the information I was given the following day. The best part? I asked her to find out who I spoke with so she said she'd ask around. She put me on hold for a few minutes, came back on the line and said "sorry you misunderstood the information that was given to you". Excuse me? She goes on to say that the lady I spoke to said there was an "opening" for Friday at 11:30am but it wasn't an opening for a PHYSICAL... So let me get this straight, I ask to set an appointment for a physical, I am given the dates and times for supposed available appointments for a physical and the following day I'm told that the date/time given was an "opening", but not an "opening" for a physical? What good would that appointment be to me? I mean, seriously. A little common sense here. I'm pretty sure people who call to set an appointment for a physical expect to be given available appointment times for....A PHYSICAL! I am VERY disappointed with the way the situation turned out. It doesn't take rocket science to see how ridiculous this whole scenario was. Given the lack of knowledge and common sense, she could have at least offered to work with me to set another appointment or at the VERY least own up to THEIR mistake instead of pointing the finger at me and saying "I misunderstood". Like I said, the doctors here are nice enough, but they should really consider re-training or re-hiring some competent and friendly people at the front desk. These are the faces and personalities who deal with the doctors' patients day-in and day-out. It's poor practice to have a horrible conversation with a patient then try to interject with a "well you NEED to be seen anyway so you'll NEED to set an appointment for your physical." While I may "need" to be seen by a doctor for my yearly check-up, I certainly do not "NEED" to do that with your clinic.

Long story short they could have cared less about me or my coumadin, I couldn't even get them to fill my coumadin..Wich is what keeps me alive. Ultimately this doctor misdiagnosed what she said was the flu, and I suffered a brain bleed, brain anurism and brain surgery. Do not go see this doctor or any of the doctors in this office..ignored they had just listened to me I wouldn't be spending the rest of my life in a wheelchair.

I was a patient at Olympic Internal Medicine for approximately 12 years. During that time, I was…read moregenerally very happy with the care I received. Unfortunately, my experience over the last few years changed my opinion of the practice. A few years ago, the clinic switched to a membership model that required patients to pay approximately $300 per year just to remain a patient. That decision created a major issue with my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, which would no longer work with the clinic under that arrangement. As a result, I was forced to change my health insurance just so I could continue seeing my primary care physician after more than a decade as a patient. Even after paying the annual membership fee, I only saw my doctor once or twice a year for routine checkups. Paying hundreds of dollars every year simply for the privilege of remaining a patient never made sense to me. The final straw was how my billing was handled. The clinic stopped collecting my approximately $40 copay at the time of each visit and instead mailed me a bill afterward. I admit that I should have paid those bills when I received them. That's on me. However, according to the letter I received from the clinic, they had become frustrated that they had to call me to collect payment for these balances. From my perspective, it was confusing because these were small balances that could have easily been collected while I was standing at the front desk, as many medical offices routinely do. It seems like collecting the copay during the visit would have been easier and less expensive than mailing statements and making collection calls. I'm not sure why this became such a significant issue when it could have been avoided by simply collecting the payment at check-in or check-out. Instead of working with me to resolve the issue after 12 years as a loyal patient, the clinic chose to terminate our relationship. That was extremely disappointing. I have since learned that the practice was sold. Looking back, the move to a mandatory membership model felt like the practice became more focused on revenue than on maintaining long-term relationships with established patients. Whether or not that was the intention, that's certainly how it felt as someone who had been a loyal patient for over a decade. I hope other patients carefully consider whether paying an annual membership fee is worthwhile, especially if they only need routine preventive care. I also hope Washington continues to monitor concierge-style medical practices to ensure they remain transparent and patient-focused. After 12 years, I expected better communication, more flexibility, and a greater appreciation for patient loyalty.

After a terrible experience at another facility I called UW for a reference and Doctor Gross was recommended. After a year as a patient they abruptly changed their policies. As explained in phone call I got 2 weeks before my blood work appointment. Now on top of copay out of pocket there is a yearly charge of $250 broken into monthly payments. And I was almost 3 months behind and would need to pay up to date to be seen. Never received paperwork, email etc. My insurance did not cover office visits as Dr Gross was out of network so I had to pay $200+ out of pocket.... Now add on $250. I can't afford it so asked for a reference, (just like I got from UW) the office called and said there are no primary care providers available in the area. I will go elsewhere as they obviously don't need me I needed them.
