tried again, and steak just as awful-fatty full of gristle not much left to eat, as it was first visit. Perhaps folks who left high reviews ordered ground meat or chicken? We paid extra for steak certainly not expecting to be forced to remove half of it due to not being trimmed properly. wont go back again. We stopped here based on the Yelp rating but will definitely be back for the warm friendly service, the great, fresh food with a wonderful toppings bar, the best horchata north of Mexico and the scrumptious margarita served in a mug with a rim of lime, salt and chili pepper. I had the taco salad and it comes with a fresh made flour tortilla shell with the meat on the side. You build the rest at the topping bar. It was excellent. My husband got a beef burrito that was huge and he swore he couldn't eat it all, then, because it was so good, polished it off in one sitting. The margarita can be ordered either shaken or blended and comes in 4 sizes: small (single), mine was medium (double), large (definitely have a designated driver) and a pitcher. Guess Loden Miller State Forest will be on our hiking list to give us an excuse to drive 65 miles for lunch. We will be back! read more

The chicken in the tacos is really good meat. The service is fast. The dining area is decorated with Mexican flare. Everyone is very nice.

I would recommend Hectors! I had the steak tacos and my wife and daughter had the chicken tacos. They all were excellent. Chips, salsa and guacamole was very good as well. I ordered a fresh made margarita and I have to say one of the best I have had. Service was good and attentive. We were from out of town so very pleased we chose Hectors. read more

We went to Conover Square to find a different shop and were planning on leaving for lunch when we smelled the tacos! Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican food and all 3 of us & the 4 year old got full for under $30! The waitress was super friendly and helpful too. I don't mean to be dramatic, but how come no one told me about Hectors Cocina located in Conover Square in Oregon? They are slinging Chimichangas the size of John Goodman when he was on Roseanne. Not only was it bigger than the gun violence problem in Chicago, but it had some nicely seasoned beef, pork, or any other meat you like. They didn't nickel and dime me for the 3 sauces they gave me either. They also have the best Horchata I've ever dran, and they put it in a Styrofoam cup so I could feel like Lil Wayne. Great menu selection of beef, chicken, and steak hispanic cuisine. Best nachos I've enjoyed. Great staff and always willing to accommodate (they warmed my son'sMac&cheese since he is a picky eater) they got fresh lettuce and other toppings for a late order to go. I feel Prices are very fair for the quality of product your getting. Chips are made in house and seam to always be fresh for me (lucky or made to order?) Secretly I enjoy that there is no television cramping the atmosphere. The only thing that I can think of as a negative is not the fault of the restaurant but of Conover Square's lack of upkeep or lack of budget. The bathrooms are pretty horrible with water damage floor under the urinal, toilets, and also a drippy sink ( girlfriend said the girls bathroom wasn't much better). I would think Conover would put more effort in keeping its facility's running properly for the sake of the tenants who are trying to attract customers. Over all this place is good and would recommend this over the other taco place in town which makes nothing as good as this. read more

Very nice family owned business in Oregon. They seem best for takeout food. We get takeout from them regularly as it is in our opinion the best Mexican food within 45 minutes. I have eaten in a lot of Mexican Restaurants and Hector's is right up there. The only thing I would like to see is a "Hotter" sauce.

We had dinner that after taking kids trick or treating. This place was great. Friendly atmosphere freshly made food. A taco bar so you can make the taco the way you like it. The portions were big so we some home. As I was sitting there there was a guy waiting for his to go order. Server came back and said they were out of steak. No biggie for him. What stood out for me is that the owner came out and gave him a free steak taco explaining to him that that that was all the steak he had left and did not want to short him on his burrito. What restaurant does that? I thought it was very thoughtful of the owner to do this. Service was great, and order was prompt. The place was clean and comfortable. Ordered a steak burrito. I've never had a burrito with the rice and beans cooked inside of the burrito. The taste was much more like Italian beef than Mexican. I did like the taste, but was expecting Mexican food, or something close to it. read more

Love this place. Inside an old piano factory. Had the chips & salsa- thin, crisp, salty & warm. Then the Burrito- huge and so good! You order at counter and then it's brought to you. The people next to us had the 'special'- Mexican-potato soup. Looked and smelled so good. They said it was great! Will be back on another visit to Oregon. read more
