I really liked that there were employees taking pictures for each group with the sign and then explaining the rules, allowing each group to gain some distance between another. The characters did a great job! Lots of jump scares and they hid pretty well. It wasn't so much a maze, just a path through corn which made it easy to follow when you aren't thinking to straight from fear. The rest of the farm is as expected with all sorts of fall fun! I loved that one of the tractors was made up to look like Frank from the Cars movie from the tractor tipping scene. I do have to say that with the construction on the road it was hard to see in the dark where to pull over and enter. I missed it at first and had to make a U-turn.

They were warm, slightly crispy, and yummy soft of the inside. With the cinnamon sugar on the outside, they didn't last but a few minutes, so get more than the baker's dozen. I heard about Perry's Berries through their post on my local Facebook yard sale page and thought…read moreit'd be fun to take the kids.... and it was! I believe this is a family owned business and they own a large piece of property in Mapleton. According to their Facebook page, they have two raspberry harvests per year. We went in the late afternoon on a hot day. Parking is on the street on the west side of the property. You walk about 20 steps on a dirt path and there is a small cabinet with instructions and small cardboard fruit crates. It's about $1.50 for a pint of raspberries in the containers they provide. There are several rows of raspberry bushes to pick from and there were plenty of ripe raspberries, both high and low. Some of the bushes had their raspberries more hidden and we told the kids to use their "eagle eyes" to spot them. Perry's Berries boasts having Encore bushes, which are supposed to have very minimal thorns, which makes picking easy. I haven't ever picked raspberries before so I don't know how to compare, but these bushes only had tiny thorns and even when my 7 month old baby grabbed a small branch with thorns it didn't hurt him (don't worry, the raspberry bush wasn't hurt either)! We picked for about 45 minutes and ended up with 5 overflowing pints of ripe, sweet, velvety, deliciousness! Even the raspberries that didn't seem as ripe as others were all sweet! I think they were all eaten by the next morning! I would definitely recommend Perry's Berries for a pick it yourself experience.

The minute I waked in it smelt so amazing. It was very inviting. There were hundreds of trees all decked out for purchase, as well as Nativity sets, wreaths & quilts. There were rally neat Gingerbread houses and a small area to buy crafts, as well as the sweet section to purchase yummy treats. This is a short 4 day event where you can buy the trees or other items up for purchase. Trees ranged from $200 up to one I saw was $8k! On Thursday the second day of the event most trees had already sold. Many trees were honoring deceased love ones, and had really special tributes to things they liked... biking, toys, etc. it felt really special. They had choirs performing as well as instrumental performances on two serrated stages. Entrance was $10 on Thursday and at 11am it was quite crowded actually. I purchase a ticket in advance and scanned my phone at the door to get in. Easy breezy. Parking was a bit crazy but I just ended up driving over to where it wasn't so hectic and people weren't fighting for spots. Would love to visit this again next year!

The Most Colorful Morning You Will Ever Have at 6:00 AM…read moreThere are not many things worth setting an alarm for at 5:00 in the morning. This is one of them. The Provo Freedom Festival Balloon Fest is a three day annual celebration of the Fourth of July held at Fox Field on Freedom Boulevard, and it is exactly the kind of event that reminds you why summer in Utah is something special. Pilots from across the country bring their balloons to the Wasatch foothills and what unfolds over those three days is one of the most visually spectacular community events in the state. Arrive early. We mean it. Getting there around 5:30 am puts you on the field while the crews are still inflating the balloons, and watching a seven story tall colossus slowly rise against the backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains is something that does not have a good comparison. Sixty to eighty feet of color and fabric filling with air while the mountains glow in the early morning light is the kind of moment you reach for your camera and realize no photo will fully do it justice. Go anyway, take the pictures anyway. A tip for families: the crew members of each balloon are friendly and genuinely happy to talk. Ask them for their balloon card. Kids can collect a card from every balloon on the field and it turns the whole experience into an impromptu treasure hunt. Then come back for the glow event, which happens one night during the three day run and is worth rearranging your schedule for. The balloons stay grounded but are fully inflated and lit from within by their propane burners in sync with music. Watching these giants pulse and glow in the dark while the crowd gathers around them is a completely different experience from the morning flights and every bit as memorable. We grabbed a sugar waffle from the Waffle Love truck and wandered between the glowing balloons in the evening air, and it was the kind of night that sticks with you. A few practical notes before you go. This is a free event with no tickets required, which makes it even more remarkable for what it delivers. Parking is the one challenge. Neighboring businesses offer paid parking for around ten dollars, which is worth it if you want convenience. If you prefer free, arrive early and look for the field parking behind the hospital. Come late and you will be walking. Full marks. Some experiences justify every star and then some. Put it on the calendar now for next July.

Both times I've gone to the rodeo, there was a motocross event included at the end. It was so cool (and scary!!!!) seeing the bikers do crazy flips on their bikes. One of the best parts of the rodeo is the rodeo burgers. They're $4 at the concession stands, and they hit the spot every time. (you'll probably want to get 2 of them!). They also have hot dogs, nachos, snow cones, frozen bananas, and drinks. The reason that this review is 4 stars instead of 5 is the sound level. It was SO LOUD. I brought out my decibel meter app (because I'm that nerdy), and the peak dB level was 107 dB with an average of 93. (The average person can only be exposed to a sound louder than 100 dB for 15 minutes before causing damage to the ear according to NIOSH standards.) The sound level was actually very painful. As I looked around, I saw lots of people plugging their ears. Afterward, everyone in our group complained of ringing ears. Make sure you bring ear plugs so you don't have to make your own out of a tissue like I did!

Seeing a liger in person completely blew my mind since I honestly thought that was something made up for Napoleon Dynamite. The whole museum is engaging without feeling overwhelming, and the fact that it's entirely free makes it even more impressive. It's one of those places that sneaks up on you and ends up being way more interesting than you expect.
