I attended this event because my daughter's choir was performing but I was unexpectedly surprised by the venue. This event benefits the Primary Children's Hospital. The minute I waked in it smelt so amazing. It was very inviting. There were hundreds of trees all decked out for purchase, as well as Nativity sets, wreaths & quilts. There were rally neat Gingerbread houses and a small area to buy crafts, as well as the sweet section to purchase yummy treats. This is a short 4 day event where you can buy the trees or other items up for purchase. Trees ranged from $200 up to one I saw was $8k! On Thursday the second day of the event most trees had already sold. Many trees were honoring deceased love ones, and had really special tributes to things they liked... biking, toys, etc. it felt really special. They had choirs performing as well as instrumental performances on two serrated stages. Entrance was $10 on Thursday and at 11am it was quite crowded actually. I purchase a ticket in advance and scanned my phone at the door to get in. Easy breezy. Parking was a bit crazy but I just ended up driving over to where it wasn't so hectic and people weren't fighting for spots. Would love to visit this again next year! read more

It was my family's first time at the Festival of Trees and we're kicking ourselves over not going sooner! It was held from Nov 29th - Dec 2nd, and we arrived a few hours before the last day's event concluded. For starters, all funds raised at this event, which is put on by selfless volunteers with the help of generous community donations, support Primary Children's Hospital. That fact alone should be enough motivation to come and see what this event is all about! The parking situation was definitely a little hectic, BUT despite waiting in a 4-5 minute line to get into the parking lot, once we were in, it only took us another minute or two of driving around to find a spot pretty close to the entrances. Honestly wasn't even that bad. Once you enter the Mountain America Expo Center, which is where this event is held, you're greeted with amazing smells wafting through the open doors leading into the event. You can purchase tickets at the door or online! We bought our's online, so we were able to head straight in after getting our e-tickets scanned. (You receive e-tickets sent to your email if you purchase online) It's overwhelming in the best ways to walk in for the first time and see how many different items they have on display at this event. Twinkling Christmas lights everywhere, endless rows of beautiful trees, wreaths, quilts, decorations, bake shops, treat stops, you won't know where to begin!! It was packed when we arrived, and while there were a couple of times when we had a little trouble maneuvering our very large twin stroller through the crowd of people, majority of the time, we were fine. They do a really great job of spacing the aisles in between the rows of displays out enough. We all got hot chocolates from the little grill they had open, and it was good, but it was hot chocolate from store-bought packets, which I personally didn't mind, but don't come expecting homemade hot chocolate or anything like that. They also served it scalding hot, so be careful when you take your first sip! There was a huge band of performers who put on a yearly show at this event, and it was so much fun hearing their bagpipes and beautiful music as well as watching their traditional Irish and Highland dances! Before taking the main stage, the band paraded through the expo center playing their music while all the volunteers who put the event together were proudly parading behind! Being a mom of 3, I know firsthand what it feels like to have a child who you love more than anything in the world. Imagine losing that child or having to watch that child suffer every single day of their life. It could easily be one of my kids, it could easily be one of your's or a child you may know. Some of the trees had pictures of who I assume to be the tree donor's family member or someone they knew, many being children, who lost their life - it was devastating to see. A stark reminder of why this event is put on, and why it's so important to come out and show your support! Even simply buying a ticket to this event is a donation. It was so heartwarming seeing the amount of donations, the countless volunteers who dedicate so much time and effort into making this event happen, and the sheer volume of community members who came out to support Primary Children's Hospital. If you're going to attend a Christmas event, you may as well go to one with an amazing and important cause such as this one!! My family was truly awestruck at the beauty of the handmade items. We couldn't get enough of the amazing trees that were each decorated with their own unique themes and corresponding gifts. The treats from the shops are divine. My kids loved watching the live performances. Festival of Trees is absolutely a new yearly Christmas tradition for us! This event truly is a sight to behold and it's one that you absolutely can't and shouldn't miss out on!! read more

Ahh, the Festival of Trees.....a longstanding tradition the grows bigger and better every year. The festival is a fundraiser for Primary Children's Hospital-people donate beautifully decorated trees, wreathes, quilts and other items, often in honor of a family member that has passed away. The amount of work that goes into each of the items is astonishing. The first night of the festival is typically when the auction is held-each of the items go to the highest bidder. There are also items you can purchase directly, including candy and fudge. The rest of the nights, the public is welcome to come browse through the aisles of trees and décor, appreciating the beauty and enjoying live performances throughout the day of local dance groups, choirs and performers. This year, and last, Covid precautions resulted in the Festival going online. Everything is run by volunteers, who put in countless hours to make the event amazing, which was still evident during these odd years. They did their best to adapt to the guidelines and put on nice events online, much to the protest of many regular patrons. Hopefully, in the future, we can get back to enjoying the spirit of the festival in person. read more

Every year the past 3 years we go, it's a great cause and a load of fun. Most things can be done in 2 or 3 hours.. Photos with santa, 15 bucks but quality, and line went pretty quick Cookie making, yumm!! Great photo op, and the line moves fast!! Great helpers.. Scavenger hunt for a fun prize Crafts station and letters to santa are a great way to connect. Stuffed animal hospital, get your yearly stuffy free with entry. Kids love this! Trees are fun, but... they're auctioned off at the gala on thursday, so look ahead if you want one. read more

Amazing! Christmas trees, quilts, gingerbread houses, wreaths, and nativity sets all donated by generous and super creative people. They are all put on display and sold to benefit the Primary Children's Hospital. They also have performances going on and food. The creativity and beauty is just astounding. We got there about a half hour before the doors opened and didn't have a problem getting a parking space and it wasn't too crowded yet. I understand all of the comments about the terrible parking situation. I have been to other events here and it is terrible but getting here early seemed to do the trick for us. There isn't a lot of choice when it comes to food here so I think it would be great if they could get more food vendors in. It is a fabulous event and I can't wait to go again and maybe donate something for the cause. read more

Great family fun at Christmas time! My family has been going for 20 years. So many beautifully dressed trees all done by local folks. Trees, wreaths, gingerbread houses -- all are auctioned off first night, proceeds going to the Primary Children's Hospital Foundation. Santa Claus is always in attendance, there's the kid's korner with fun activities, and there are many mostly youth dance performances on two separate stages. Concessions are very popular here. I look forward to this festival every year. It helps keeps the spirit of Christmas alive in my own family and throughout our community. read more

Went to the Festival of Trees while in Salt Lake City. It's a very family oriented holiday event. Parking is a nightmare. We parked in a garage across State Street. Masses of people moving through the aisles of trees. The creativity is quite impressive. There were youth performances on two stages and several concessions, but we didn't partake of either.
