One of the most bizarre companies I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. My next door neighbors have a huge tulip tree with long, heavy limbs hanging over my house. There is no access with machinery, so the tree needs to be climbed in order to do the work. For over three years I tried to get these people next door to allow me to hire someone to do the job, stating that I would not only pay for everything but would also pay to have trimming on their side to even out the tree. They refused, no reason ever given. About a month ago, at midnight, there was a huge crash and I discovered that one of those limbs ( there are four of them) had broken off, hit my roof, landed on my generator and then onto the walkway at the side of the house. I was lucky I was not out there at the time, since I had just taken out the recyclables for collection in the morning and had been right there a half hour before. My village said if I could get a certified arborist to state the tree was dangerous they could put "pressure" on the neighbors to allow me to get someone to cut the limbs. I called Hefferin, they sent a guy who agreed the limbs were dangerous and should be cut and it was agreed they would send that to me in writing along with a quote for the most of the job. I then got an email with a quote of $1600 to remove "dead branches" from my "oak tree". I emailed back that it was not an oak, and these were not dead branches, and I expected something in writing about the danger of these limbs. The email I got back was that they could not send me that letter till I agreed in writing to what they had sent me. She apologized for the error about the type of tree, and said yes, she knew it was a maple tree!!!!! Obviously I was not signing any agreement to have dead branches cut off either a maple or an oak, I know that it has to cost way more than $1600.00 to do what I need done here, and this appears as nothing more than a scam to me. I was told I would get an appraisal of the situation and a price to take care of the problem, and they are playing games. Can you imagine committing in writing to pay for something which does not have to be done and not having the real problem even addressed, let along getting done???? I now have to find someone else who is legitimate. These people are dishonest at the very least. read more

We had Hefferin Tree & Landscape Contracting Inc. do a tree clean up of the trees on our property after some storm damage. Their employees worked safely and carefully. The problem was that Frank Hefferin was not there supervising, so they "cleaned up" our 50+ year old oak tree and we were left with a denuded tree devoid of the lush greenery we looked out on before. When Frank wrote the estimate he was not specific as to what clean up meant, and said it was my HUSBAND'S fault that the tree was cleared in this brutal fashion because he was home. My husband has a full time job and works from home due to the pandemic. We hired Frank so HE could give direction to and supervise his workers. Arrived on time, did the job they were supposed to and they did it for the best price in town. I got estimates from at lease three other companies and this was the only company willing to work with us on price and terms of payment. Yes,I guess the guys can be salty, but no more than any other working people. I would use them again. read more

The crew arrived on time and worked nonstop for several hours. We had them remove a very tall spruce tree and trim and prune several other trees ( tulip, cherry, dogwood, birch) and pare back an overgrown wysteria. They also ground out a stump from a prior removal. Everything was done neatly and the clean up was excellent. Price was fair. The crew chief knocked on the door to be sure we were satisfied with everything before they left. It was a cold day but they all worked hard. We left some decisions to their judgment and they knew what they were doing. So we were pleased. read more

I call Hefferin Tree & Landscape Contracting Inc for an estimated on a small job, he said he will come this week, I told him I don't live there and he must call me 30 minutes before he come. I then received a few other estimated and like one of them very much, I hired them, they came the next day and while the crew was working Francis Hefferin drove by the house WITHOUT CALLING ME and became enraged by not getting the job, he told me he was going to call the village to report the work in progress, which he did, the village came, the worker explain he was there the trim the overgrown branches that was over the house, and remove bush and shrub that was over grow and half dead. Francis Hefferin was so enraged he could not stop cursing at me, he then came out of his white truck and try to hit me, I was in my car and had to move forward quickly to avoid getting hit, he them, went in the back of his white truck and pick up a fork and want to hit me with it, he keep cursing and said come over here, I didn't because he was out of his mind. I call the police and report the incident, the police call him but he didn't pick up, so, the police left him a message to call them and to leave me alone otherwise he will be arrested. read more

Tried to get prices for firewood and the guy who answered (said he was the owner) was so rude and insulting. Then I checked other reviews and I am not the first one to be abused by this guy. read more
