Moving isn't easy but working with Hefty Haulers was great. Reliable, affordable and genuine. Will definitely hire them again.

Mic's Moving Company - We made NBC National News with Lester Holt!

Mic's Moving Company

(508 reviews)

Tl:Dr, Mic's Moving stepped up after College Hunks botched my job and in 3 hours did what CH…read morecouldn't in 3 days. Professionally moved my stuff, communicated like adults, and showed up on time. Do not use College Hunks. They are an aggregate moving coordination and logistics service that has messed up my moves. Their corporate company has zero control or oversight to the local franchise, and their local franchise has zero care, or professionalism. Friday they were supposed to come bright and early to pack and move me 200 ft across the parking lot to another apartment in my facility. That morning I got a call stating they supposedly they ran out of DOT hours and couldn't come till Sunday. I'm annoyed by this, as it's in no way my responsibility or problem, but I accept the new date still under the impression this is only a 3-4 hour job for a small crew with junk haul away after. Then I find out the junkers (also hunks) got rescheduled to Sunday, though I was assuming they are one crew. They aren't. Junkers arrive after the stated 10:00-12:00 window but arrive, take away my bookshelves and ottoman and I tip them directly. If you're reading this, the junk crew was fine, I have no issues with their work, only that HUNKS failed to inform me it was separate crews. The same guy from the local moving crew dispatch calls at 09:00 telling me they will be there between 10:00 and 12:00 with their "best". I attempt to make light of the situation and ask if they have enough DOT hours remaining, but he acts like he doesn't hear me. 12:45 while the junk crew is here they call barely able to pronounce my name saying they will arrive by 14:00. I'm frustrated it's 2 hours after my arrival window but it's still doable, so I let it go. So 15:00 I called corporate, they did their thousand apologies but couldn't get a hold of the local team, and said they will keep trying and call me back when they got a hold of them. I'm stressed out, and getting tired from moving my own stuff as piecemeal as I can, and now really worried this won't get done. I'm supposed to turn in my keys and go back to work Monday, and can't do either until the move is done. 16:00 I asked friends for alternative movers. Bookstore Movers couldn't do the job but provided a list of their competitors maybe they can help. My partner called them on my behalf cause I was too stressed to really be civil, and Mic's Moving took up the job due out Monday at 09:00, to complete the pack and move, also quoting me nearly 1200$ less than College Hunk. I called back college Hunk's corporate line, since they never called me back either and told them to cancel the job. The operator on the other side was apologetic, and I don't believe in taking out my frustrations on people. They did offer to have the local crew call and apologize, in addition to returning my deposit, but what good would that have done? Mic's Movers showed up on time, 3 person Crew, and knocked out my move in 3 hours, after 3 days of stress and unnecessary confusion. I have used College Hunks through 3 previous moves including an interstate, but the circus of errors that was this move proves to me that I cannot trust my belongings to them anymore. If you're local to DC, use Mic's Moving or Bookstore Movers instead, worth every penny.

It was Bookstore Movers' excellent customer service that earns them 5 stars. The 3 movers showed up early and worked very quickly and efficiently. In that haste, some items were damaged and I offered that feedback in the follow-up survey. I quickly received a call from the company offering to discount my move and send Walter Davies, a furniture repair person, out to make furniture repairs. That concern for customers and making things right earns Bookstore Movers 5-star service. Walter Davies was excellent and thorough in repairing my furniture. Patrick and his crew, Renaldo, Nitua, Gerand and Kevin, exceeded the already high expectations I had based upon the reviews. I will happily recommend Bookstore to family and friends and will never use another moving company. Their strength, kindness, commitment and pride in their job and the company, organization, efficiency as a crew (this was amazing to watch- they just flowed as a team of 5 and Patrick was an excellent leader!), was consitent and apparent throughout the entire time they spent with us. I really can't say enough good things about the experience and hope to work with them again when we hopefully buy a place and move in the next couple of years. The price was also incredibly fair, worth every penny for their first-rate and professional work and incredibly pleasant dispositions, just a really great group of guys!

Grasshopper Movers is HANDS DOWN the best moving company I've worked with. Maybe because they are local and small, or maybe because they're just committed to providing the best service possible. EVERY single person I dealt with at Grasshopper has been customer focused and professional. They are clearly a company that is focused on meeting customer needs versus up-selling or lengthening the process. I would have even considered myself a not ideal client in that I contacted Grasshopper last minute and used them for storage far longer than anticipated AND asked for delivery and received it within 2 days of the request (meaning they didn't get to milk more money out of us just because they could.). DC is filled with lots of competition and these folks are just old fashioned in their approach - they have pride in their work. Finally, they also had the best price based on my extensive research (which I do professionally). If only they provided services outside of moving and storage - housekeeping? mobile phone service? Wifi & cable TV? OK, now I jest, but you get my point. Call them and sleep well. (FYI: I rarely write these because I seem to not have time, but I was motivated because of how awesome they all were to me - it's the least I could do.)

They kept me informed throughout the process and were extremely trustworthy and personable, especially when I had to run out of the house to handle something leaving them alone and when I ended up having more items than originally planned for the move. I am extremely happy with the results and will definitely be using and recommending them to friends and family in the future. Thank you Carlos and Jonathan for your help! Overall, my move was a little over $800 (took about 5 hours with 2 movers for a local move from a 3-story townhome to a 2-story condo ) and I gave a generous tip considering the amount of work they did. In the past, I have done a few corporate (business) moves and have a high level of expectation from professional movers. Joe Brown exceeded every expectation I had. Moving is usually very stressful for me as I am a perfectionist, but Joe and his men made the entire process incredibly smooth and worry-free. They were extremely professional, and worked quickly without cutting corners. Joe (the owner) was on the property the entire time (as he promised) and he worked alongside his men. What impressed me most was how carefully they handled everything, especially my numerous, VERY heavy and ornate pieces of Victorian furniture. Every piece of furniture and every box was treated like it was their own. They wrapped and protected items properly, loaded everything securely, and they did not damage a single thing during the move. Additionally, the entire team was friendly, extremely respectful, and clearly very experienced. They communicated well with me and with each other as a team, stayed organized, and kept everything moving efficiently from start to finish. They truly care about doing the job correctly and making their customers happy. They moved me into my elderly mother's occupied house (not an easy task) and were also very respectful of her furnishings and her wishes. Joe has a very pleasant and calming demeanor and is very responsive to email and texts during the process. He provided me with a written estimate and a written "will not exceed amount" well ahead of the move and stuck to his estimate. His business style is rather informal compared to the big, interstate van lines, which frankly worried me a little, but there was nothing to be concerned about at all. Everything went exactly as planned. If you are looking for a moving company that is reliable, hardworking, and genuinely committed to excellent service, Brown's Moving Service is the one to use. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

DC Moving Inc completed my cross‑country move from Arlington, VA to Seattle, WA in just 4 days!!!…read more 4 days!I! I first requested a quote in late December before I even had a new apartment lined up. Their online tool made it easy to get an initial estimate without an in‑home visit, and Dasha (and sometimes Lilith) answered all my questions over the following weeks. A month later, when I was ready for an in‑person assessment, they honored my original quote even though my inventory had changed (many more smaller boxes, one less big piece of furniture). They visited on a Thursday and scheduled pickup for the next Tuesday. A team of three loaded everything in under two hours (right after Winter Storm Fern). I arrived in Seattle on Saturday, and the driver called 15 minutes after I had picked up my keys from the leasing office (I am not kidding). Despite my building having no loading dock, he found a workable spot, unloaded everything, and rebuilt my furniture solo in about 4.5 hours total. The original delivery window was up to two weeks, so four days was beyond anything I expected. I'm incredibly impressed and highly recommend DC Moving Inc for long‑distance moves.
