Montague Inn - Mary Sage Room

But the real struggle was the service when we went to breakfast. The eggs were somehow rubbery and soggy, and the pancakes burnt and cold. My wife is a professional chef and said it's one of the worst breakfasts she's ever had. But we weren't going to say anything. But when the innkeeper came around to take our plates and asked "Are you done," we even pleasantly responded "Yes, thank you." But when she turned away and saw food left on our plates she mumbled "what a waste!" Again, we weren't going to say anything...but we quietly told her "There's food left because it was terrible." Instead of "Sorry you didn't like it" the innkeeper said "You don't know what you're talking about!" Who says this to guests? A professional chef doesn't know bad eggs and pancakes? Even without a professional chef, if a guest doesn't like your food you don't respond like that. She then said you should take a teaspoon of everything first too see if you like it. What?? No, you should expect the food to be edible. Then when I went to check out she held her hand out and said "keys." That's it. So I dropped them on the desk. She said "Have a day." Ridiculous guest service. I thanked her sarcastically for the "great service." And her response was "Whatever." Really class act

We loved staying at the Montague Inn. It's such a quaint little B&B with a gorgeous view. The Inn would be a great place for the wedding party to stay at. We stayed at the Norman Little room. It's not big, but honestly, since we only stayed for one evening, the size of the room didn't really matter. The most important thing was having an en suite bathroom and we had that. The next was a comfy bed, and we had that, too. The host was very kind and walked us to our room and we asked for additional pillows and she brought them right away. Since we're old and boring, laying in bed to watch Netflix was about the perfect ending to a great evening. Since we've never been here before, we didn't really know what to expect for breakfast. I wasn't expecting gourmet, so seeing hot eggs, potatoes, sausages, pancakes, and all the other basics (bagels, hardboiled eggs, etc.) was quite impressive. Coffee was coffee, k-cups and regular drip. Again, I don't come to a B&B to get fancy coffee, as long as it gets my heart started, that's all I need. I'm not sure what the pricing is like in the summer, but it was an awesome deal during the off-season. I would love to stay there again some time.

Lots of regulars on this Friday afternoon buying each other drinks, and that is always a good sign of a great place to be! The food is really good and prices are very reasonable! I had a half reuben and onion rings, the portions are very nice. I really liked the decor, the tartan plaid wall covering, the custom coasters and glassware was a nice touch. If you are ever in the old town area of Saginaw do yourself a favor and give the Scottish Inn a try, I promise you won't regret it!

I listen to a podcast and the Scottish Inn is a frequent topic of the show. I was on the way to…read morethe UP from Ohio, was heading through Saginaw, and decided to give the Scottish Inn a try. Furthermore, I love good old school bars (dark, lots of locals, and history). The Scottish Inn is a place where a person could hang around for a very long time. The light is dim, the walls are covered in Scottish Tartan, the drinks are strong, and the prices are low. I tried to order a PBR draft, but none of the draft taps were working at that point, so I decided on a Labatt's bottle. I was a bit peckish, so I ordered an Olive Burger and onion rings. The burger was delicious, perfectly cooked, and loaded with chopped olives and Swiss cheese. This would be a place that I would come back to, when the draft taps were working, and I had more time to sit back and relax.
