Visited Helen while on vacation from the UK. Stayed at the Heidi motel and had an excellent nights sleep after a day of driving. The room was very clean and comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. The bathroom was excellent and the motel is ideally located across from the Country general store and along Main Street where there's some excellent places to eat. Stayed here for SoWo 2015 - these people are amazing and so nice and so accomodating. I rented the King Hot Tub suite. The room was awesome with 2 shower heads in opposing directions in the shower. The hot tub room was amazing with a nice stone staircase and a great way to end a long day. The bed was really comfortable with a good firmness. Great location and loved taking pics of the cars from the top of the driveway. Helen is a great city and we are returning for our 6th year in a row. The weather in May is always great and lots of great businesses. Looking forward to my reservation this year at the Heidi. read more

If you find yourself in Helen, Georgia You have probably come for an experience . Heidi motel certainly adds a sense of adventure to it, Drive past the Hamptons the Days Inn etc. and find yourself tucked under a windmill at the Heidi Motel. This cute motel is easy to miss, and I admit it is part charming and part alarming as you realize you have left the sterile land of the hotel chains and you find yourself in the parking lot of a windmill with the motel dog barking at you. The room we took was directly under the windmill complete with fireplace and full sized hot tub. Probably not the right room for a family, but perfect for a romantic, 70's porn style getaway. The manager, Chad was super friendly, and he took me to the room to make sure i could operate the tub etc, He let me know they empty and refill the tub after every guest. I believed him. Most of the lights didn't work, including the only light in the bathroom. The room is a mismatch of odd pieces of furniture, cheap art and empty shelves however it all adds to the fun. Think of a Bed and breakfast, without the breakfast.. I can't imagine spending the night anywhere else in Helen. read more

I arrived at Heidi Motel to spend time with my family. I needed to bring my dog for this vacation, a well trained shih tzu. I was given a pet friendly room. Check in was at 3:00 pm. No problem. I waited until 3 pm and was informed the room wasn't ready. This was ok, though inconvenient. Apparently, multiple staff did not show up for work. My family already had a room, so we spent some time in their room with the dog while we waited for my room to become available. At 4:45 pm, I went to bring my things into the room. It was being cleaned still. Major inconvenience at this point. More than 90 minutes after check in time and my room still wasn't available. We left the dog in my family's room. Their room didn't need cleaning. It didn't need cleaning because they had already done it themselves. Housekeeping never showed up to clean their room either. They bagged their own trash, made their bed, and went to the front desk to get clean towels. So far, talk about disappointing vacation stays. While out seeing the sights in Helen, my mother gets a call. Housekeeping has been to clean her room in spite of a specific request that they do not. The hotel staff also informed my mother of their policy that dogs must be attended at all times. What's the point of a pet friendly room? Fear not, Heidi Motel can provide pet care! Not complimentary of course. We won't be staying at Heidi Motel in the future, and we regret staying this time. read more

Very nice stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We checked in fairly late after traveling all day. When I asked where I could get a soda, the owner offered me a soda from her own refrigerator. The building is older but nicely renovated with a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, silverware n the room. Our room even had a gas fireplace. read more

After looking online and on Yelp for reviews we decided on this motel during our stay, and we stayed 2 nights. The price is very reasonable, and it's an excellent location for walking to all the shops. No need to drive anywhere if u stay here. I called the motel twice before we arrived, and both times the staff was super friendly. However, I will say this motel is very dated, which isn't a big issue since it was clean. We arrived an hour after check in time, but to our surprise our room wasn't ready for another 2 hours. This was a disappointment since we drove over 6 hours to get there. We wanted to put our bags inside, and rest a few minutes. Instead, we had no choice but to walk downtown for 2 hours until our room was ready. We were on the first floor and the first night we didn't get a wink of sleep due to several folks upstairs jumping and banging around until 4am. The second night was much better. I highly recommend earplugs! You can buy them across the street at the grocery store. Also, you will only receive one key, so everyone in the room will have to share. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but I wouldn't stay here again. If all you are needing is a cheap, convenient stay this could be the place for you. read more

Looks nice from the outside! Our room has a terrible order to it ! The febreze I had didn't even help it. The rooms need to be cleaned better. There were stains on the carpet and mold on the shower curtain! We slept on top of the bed and used our own blanket to cover up with. Time to update!!! read more

I loved it! Perfectly clean, comfortable bed, no fridge noise or another electronic, nice hot shower, no bad smell, microwave does not have fingerprints on it. Although I prefer no carpets at all, but I guess I have to live with that in USA. They love using these carpets even in hospitals. I don't find it hygienic. read more

Let me first say that the manager/owner that we delt with was extremely helpful and nice. This is definetely a dated hotel. The curtains were translucent and furniture mismatched. The mattress was a very inexpensive spring mattress that left our backs aching by morning. We booked for a family of 4. The room was said to have a king bed and a pullout sofa that sleeps 2. When we arrived, however, the pull out was a small loveseat with single mattress. I spoke to the manager, who advised it has a pull out bed and they do not have any roll away beds. My small daughters 7 & 8 tried to sleep on the single but one ended up sleeping on the floor for the two nights we were there. The King suite sleeps 3, not four. If you bring your own aerobed there is space, but we did not have ours with us. Service was great, but the hotel is just run down. read more

We got the room with the fireplace and hot tub. I loved the room and the fireplace. The bed needs updating badly, the mattress is an old spring style mattress that settles in the middle, very uncomfortable and makes for a rough night sleep. The other issue we had was the hot tub. When we first arrived the water was extremely hot so we decided to go out for awhile and when we returned the temperature was lukewarm. So we sat for awhile. The next morning the water was cold so we turned the temp up and it never warmed back up. Upon checking out we mentioned it to the gentleman working and he knew the temp controls didn't work. Apparently they clean and fill the tub with very hot water when you arrive and the temp steadily goes down from there. It's great if your just staying one night, but more than that you will be disappointed. The Folks Who Run It Are Very Nice And polite. I would love to stay here again if they would fix these issues. It's a lot of money for something you can't enjoy completely. read more

This was our first stay at the Heidi after going to Helen for many many years. I am so disappointed that we did not book here sooner! We stayed in the king suite with the heart shaped jacuzzi and it was perfect. I loved how spacious the room was and it was extremely clean. It was also very quiet. Being Oktoberfest, that is so hard to find! The staff also went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. This is a new tradition for us! read more

We accidentally chose the wrong dates for when we were staying so we called the hotel and they were very understanding and said that the room we chose (queen windmill suite) was available for the days we would be there and they changed the dates with no problem. The room was clean and cozy! The fireplace worked and everything was great. It's right down the road from shops and restaurants. We had a great stay! read more

This is a beautiful little motel. The service is excellent. We left our credit card at the desk and the owner called to tell us and then he actually brought it to us. It is very clean and just a cute motel. It is in walking distance to all of the attractions. We are already planning our next trip and would not think of staying anywhere else. read more

This place was a sweet surprise. My husband and I stayed two nights. The place has so much character. Our room was spotless and so charming! Every nook and cranny was clean! The bed was comfortable and linens were nice. Only one problem with getting the Hot tub up and running correctly, but all the other pros weighed that con out. The owner was very nice and takes great pride in her property. We will definitely be back! read more

We are just finishing up our stay here. Great location - it's right on the main drag, but up on a hill so you are removed from the street noise to an extent. There is a full service independent country grocery store right across the street. We had a windmill suite with hot tub and fire place. It was spacious, very clean, and enjoyable. Looked like it had been recently renovated, flat screen tv, fridge, microwave all included. No complaints. If you want to do a night or two of tourist kitsch USA in Helen, this is a good choice. read more

Not sure where these other reviewers stayed. I'll assure you it was not Rm 23.... what a dump. Booked room 2 nights to attend family function that was canceled 6 days before scheduled stay. Tried to cancel reservations and was told of 7 day max to cancel I could cancel but would be charged $299.00...., of a $354.00 total charge . Decided if paying that much to cancel might as well go for 354. Upon arrival found very dated room, melted ice on bucket ( obviously hadn't been cleaned very well) no in room phone, tv signal went out 1st night and still out 3:00p next day with ball games I would like to watch. Desk clerks reply is well go to a bar down street to watch games. Bars are not a place I care to frequent. Also if bar down street has tv service why does Hedi not have it??? Personally I feel a refund of one night stay would be in order but loss of TV is out of Hefi's control. According to desk clerk. Hope Hedi enjoys that 354 dollars cause they will be no more from this ole boy. read more

Wonderful hotel!! We drove into town around 9:30pm and stumbled on this. They had one room available and was able to give a veterans discount. The office staff was very nice and efficient. The room is nice. Clean and spacious. One of the quietest hotels we ve ever stayed in! Very nice! read more

We stayed this weekend at the Heidi Motel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It's not the newest, fanciest place to stay but definitely clean and comfortable! The location is perfect. We were able to walk to all of Helen's attractions. Having Betty's Country Store and the Meeting Place just at the end of the driveway was icing on the cake! I recommend the Heidi to any family wanting a comfortable stay at a reasonable price. read more

STAY AWAY!!! Don't bother staying in this motel. The smell was horrible from the chlorine and mildew smell. The carpet was soaking wet. The gnats were swarming as we ate our food. The bed is in worse shape than my 10 year old mattress. We left and didn't stay because the conditions were so bad. We asked for a refund or at least a discount. The blonde lady behind the counter refused. All this going on with a screaming child lying on the floor throwing a tantrum. read more
