I can always tell walking into a chi-chi boutique within 10 seconds if I'm going to be there for long or if the people display a just too cooler/richer/better-than-thou vibe which makes me want to leave quickly. I was investigating Filmore Street one weekday afternoon when I saw "Heidi Says", went in to browse and the salesgirl at the time was actually quite nice. She was very helpful with picking out a pair of jeans (which along with bathing suit shopping can ALWAYS be a nightmare...) I saw quite a number of pieces which were fun yet professional enough to pull off for the office. I walked away with a great pair of jeans and if I'm in SF again, will shop here again. read more

Met Andrea when I picked it up. She has a great eye! I appreciate her honesty on how it appeared on me. Andrea has great suggestions too. I can see through a false rep any day. Great selections that day included a purple wool shift dress by Tory Burch ($425), grey silk dress by Malandrino, wool plaid trousers, Diane von Furstenberg dresses and coats. Trends and classics can be found by well known contemporary designers including Vera Wang, Nanette Lepore and Trina Turk. I have to agree with Jessica W. about this place. Coming here makes me feel like I'm cheap or have low standards in clothing. It's just SO expeeeeensive! And it's fine to carry expensive clothing lines, but it's just not worth it to me. The brands are great, which is what caught my eye to begin with, but the selection of clothing from those brands is so-so. I always walk in excited and but leave with nothing. I don't think I'm overly picky, but this is just not my store. The store is clean and bright. Also, it's dog friendly. However, those things are not as important to me as the quality of the clothing. read more

They have some really nice collection of dresses by DVF, Robert Rodriguez, Charles Chang Lima and some pieces by Vera Wang! Lots of other tops and pieces by Theory, Ella Moss, Nanette Lapore. There is something off about this place. Love the stuff, it all just needs to be a couple hundo cheaper. Maybe I need to adjust my taste? I always seem to grab the $600 sweater or dress?! Only drawback is that the store is small, but they can't help it. Always very helpful staff. When you tell them what you need, they go out of their way to show you what they have and continue to pull things that might be what you're looking for, but not in an overbearing way. I love that there are three stores all close to one another, all with their own theme. One casual, one high end, and one shoes. I also receive emailed from them when they have big sales or trunk sales which is very useful. These stores are a little pricey so if that's not what you're looking for, this might not be the right place for you. read more

You must be kidding me. In a down retail market, any shop that has insolent help is not doing themselves any favors!! The 2 women in the shop didn't even bother to say hello to me, and this was just Saturday and the weather was stunning. Get a life, sun usually improves moods and moral... Nice selection - roomy fitting rooms, I liked that a lot. The store is pretty and easy to move around in. I picked up some pants that will need tailoring and they also gave me a recommendation on that. I'm still hunting for a great tailor that can take in a waist for under $20 but I suppose I might then get what I pay for...suggestions anyone? Anyway- the pants I got are by Vince - some light olive chinos that are super soft and comfy and will be great to wear on the weekends but could be dressed up a little for dinner too. While boutiques are generally kind of pricey for me to be shopping in frequently, I will definitely make a stop in here whenever I get my hair done a few doors down at Posh Salon! read more

Attention Ella Moss lovers: 4 stars purely because of their wonderful selection of Ella Moss. This is a tiny little store on Filmore. They do have a decent selection of LAMade and Michael Star basics, along with a small selection of Sevens, Citizens, etc....But I come here to peruse the Ella Moss selection- I know that Nordys and Anthropologie sell the label as well, but this boutique has a better selection in my opinion. I love this store! Heidi Says Casual has a wide selection of brands that I love - Juicy, Theory, Ella Moss, Vince, and many more. I always find great basics here. The girls that work at the store are very helpful and honest. I was in a couple weeks ago and loved a particular shirt. They didn't have my size. Instead of telling me they didn't have the size, they offered to order it for me. I had it in my hands within two weeks. Great selection, great service. I'll be back again and again. read more

I visited this store about a week ago and purchased a $250 pair of jeans as well as a sweater which was on sale from upwards of $300 to around $150. After wearing the sweater for about 4 hours I noticed it started to unravel and almost snag allover the bust. The next day I immediately called Heidi Says explaining what happened, and asked if I could bring it in for a refund or store credit, because obviously the piece is defective. The woman who answered the phone was anything but helpful and basically told me I was out of luck because all sale items are final. This policy was not explained to me prior to the purchase. Even so, if an item completely falls apart within hours of wearing it, I feel the store should make an exception. I am very disappointed by the level of customer service. Now I am stuck with a $150 unwearable sweater! Very unfair. read more

Here is the thing with these "women's boutiques", as my friend Matt calls them. They're all the same concept - cute clothes, somewhat overpriced, stylish salespeople. I think that part of what differentiates them is how comfortable you feel while shopping in them. I love places where the salesgirls acknowledge that, yes, $300 is a lot to pay for a dress. Heidi Says seems like the opposite kind of place. The women (at least when I was in there) in there were nice...sort of. I definately got the impression that I wasn't really cool enough for their club, and I probably couldn't afford it anyway, so would I mind leaving? I visited Heidi Says today...and I was very sadly disappointed. I came into the store to check out the merchandise since I've heard a lot about it. I was "greeted" by a tall woman with dirty blonde hair in her 30s. Not only did she blatantly not shake my hand she treated me rudely with zero respect. I do not recommend this store. I LOVE love love the Heidi Says trifecta! Between their shoe salon, casual store and collection boutique (all conveniently located within a couple of blocks of each other on Fillmore street) it's easy to stay well-heeled whether wine-tasting for the weekend or dressing to impress for a big client meeting. They have something chic for every occasion! The salesgirls are always super friendly and patient answering questions (of which I always have approximately a million before taking the plunge and making a purchase). Also, you get 15% off of a purchase from EACH of the three stores during your birthday month when you sign up for their email list, which is something you definitely don't find in other upscale boutiques or department stores in the area (and is definitely the kind of a break that a girl on a lean paycheck can appreciate!) read more

From Seattle, whenever I visit, I always cram some time in to shop at HeidiSays! This is by far, one of my favorite shops and I can always find something to wear. There are so many boutiques and department stores where everything starts to look the same. But at all 3 of the stores, I feel like someone with a great vision about how women want to dress is picking out the clothes. Some previous reviewers have said that the prices are outrageous...that's not the fault of the store...that's the brands that they carry. So, if it's not worth spending $300 on a sweater, then don't do it. Every time I've come in, I've found the salespeople to be friendly and working hard to help me make good choices. Sure, there are lots of boutiques that carry the same lines as HeidiSays. But something about this boutique stands out among the rest. First of all, they have a selection of Hollywould shoes...which is a big plus for me. When I walked in here the other afternoon, I was greeted with a genuine 'hello' and a smile. An introduction that made me somehow forget about my reservations shopping at a boutique with this ($$$) many dollar signs. I was then informed that all the sale items were an additional 20% off (goodbye remaining hesitations!). I found an adorable maxi dress, paired with a super cheap denim jacket from the second hand store down the street, and I am officially ready for summer. I would not reccomend Heidi Says. The lines they carry are nice but can be found at Nordstrom or any department store really across the country. The items they carry from each line are pretty mediocre as well. The point of shopping in a boutique is to buy something unique and special with exceptional service. Heidi Says does not offer either of these things so I don't really understand the point. I certainly don't understand why there need to be 3 on Fillmore. Heidi Says should really focus more on Quality not quantity. read more

This place has the most amazing selection of clothing in the city - 5 stars. I would call their style girly chic. They carry Trina Turk, LaRok, Diane Von Furstenberg, True Religion, etc.. They've also got the cutest decor and very friendly staff. Although, for some reason I have yet to find a sales staff that isn't blonde (what's up with that?)! I've bought a few things here, but not many mostly because of the sizing. They do carry normal sizes (I am a size 6-8). However, they only carry one in each size. I saw a LaRok top, but they only had it in size small (I needed a medium) and a Diane Von Furstenberg dress in a size 4 (I needed a 6). So, I came out empty handed. Good for my pocket book, I guess - minus 1 star for the sizes. read more

Labels like Robert Roderiquez, Andrew Marc, True Religion, Catherine Manandrino, 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent...the list goes on....are expertly mixed together, therein, providing uber style for the consumate fashionista. I really want to give this place 3.5 stars but since whole stars are only allowed I will give them the benefit of the doubt and bump it up to 4. I find this place WAY TOO cramped. If there are more than two people shopping on the floor I feel as though I am constantly bumping into them or a clothes rack or a stack of jeans (you get my drift). Sometimes I find the staff friendly and nice and then other times I feel as though I am completely invisible to the girl behind the counter. After working in boutiques for years I am a stickler for customer service. I think the selection is fun and more diverse then the majority of stores around San Francisco but I hope that if they keep adding more clothing lines that they add another building. read more
