Piedmont Boutique is the best! After finding the super rad 80's-couch-vibe fringe vest in the attached picture, I mentioned how much l'd love for it to be a set with matching pants. A staff member immediately offered to make custom pants out of the same rare fabric! I got to pick the sizing, fit, pocket style, waistband, etc. After going there for to see the final product, I realized it didn't fit how I wanted it to and they remade the pants in a new style for me for free! Not sure the exact category of clothing store but it's fun, party attire. Was recommended this place by another store on the street for having lots of different options. The store didn't disappoint. They've got all kinds of fun clothing, accessories that are flashy and creative. Wanted a mesh crop top for a themed party and they had what we wanted but in the wrong color/or not crop top. Come to learn they can custom make clothes for you and turn it around in a week. Was able to get the cut and color we wanted. Staff is extremely friendly too. read more

This was my third time shopping here it's all super cute. But the quality is poor. They sold me a pair of shorts that we're supposed to be a Medium men's & they were were too tiny for even the skinniest of my friends until a petite size 0 female put them on. That was supposed to be a thank you gift for a guy I was staying with- $50 waste! Then this final time I bought this cute romper ($54 - 20%) made of a soft cotton 80's fabric. I try it on again to find that it's got a hole in it & the crotch is pilled like it's been worn. I called them as they don't do returns or refunds & they continued with that policy... Well, as the customer I can't afford to buy stuff that is so off base. Buyer beware! read more

So the inner store had "no photos" signs all over - I'd improperly taken one that I'll keep to myself out of respect. In my last review, I'd mentioned a certain reversible flip sequin that the shop owner declined to touch for fear it would "break our needles." I've since learned to sew with it myself. And today, I spotted half a rack at Piedmont Boutique of suit blazers in the sequin, along with a number of backpacks. Um - told you so, Piedmont, but don't be mad at me for saying it, because I still love you. My previous critiques of the store hold a little true still: their patternmaking & aesthetic could be updated a touch. But I'm always gaga about so much in one store that's bright and shiny and deftly constructed. Piedmont has all this going on, even if I wish it were cheaper. But as my own custom seamstress now - I can tell you the prices aren't that bad. (This weekend they had 20 percent off, too.) I keep getting cheap accessories from this place, but I still want to pick up some custom shiny just to say I have it from them. I do recommend you stop in if you haven't. read more

Got my entire Halloween costume here. They were very helpful and the items are so fun!

I bought a pair of gloves there for $15 and when I got home and opened the package there was only one. Called them about the gloves they told me to come in. I couldn't come in so I sent my partner. Old hag behind the counter wouldn't let my partner get the new gloves for me or get my money back. They had the receipt of my purchase but apparently it wasn't enough proof that I bought them there. Also wanted to note she continued to call me my partners "friend". They yelled at my partner saying it was our fault the glove was missing. They proceeded to speak very rude to my partner making them cry. As my partner left they told them to "screw off". I am never shopping there again. I hope to see them loose their business in the near future. read more

. So......someone near and dear to me was visiting me not thatt long ago. Aaaaaaaaand she was looking for some "fun" boudoir outfits to take things up a notch. So....obviously - when you want fun dress-up clothes, sexy tights, and stripper-ish attire - you head to Piedmont Boutique. No brainer really. Personally I can't handle that much neon and spandex. It makes my nose scrunch up and my head hurt. But this particular someone was VERY excited about all of the ruffled underwear, corsets, and hot pink thigh-highs. And so I unscrunched my nose, widened my eyes and put a big supportive smile on. This someone was particurly enamored with the nurses' outfits. She studied each one carefully. "oooooo too tight" "too much spandex" "too plain" "Oh.....I like this one.....how much is it?" And so we asked the patient saleslady about prices. Big surprise that nurses' outfits, a quality one - are not the cheapest. You're supposedly paying for enriched nights of wild kinky romance, but in fact are really dishing out alot of cash for flimsy, fall-apart fabric, that will most likely only be on you for 10 minutes. But that's cool. This someone looked at the outfits hard, and by this time, the saleslady had brought out a book of outfits, all of which they stocked. A full range of police, UPS delivery girl, and pirate outfits - to name a few. But this someone wasn't having any of it. "ooooooo all so sexy! But nope - I just think I can find cheaper outfits for this quality. I can make my own!.....yes that's what I'll do.....a nurses' cross, old kitchen apron....yeah I'll be set." me: "Oh totally - home-sewn stuff is always sexier!" (cough, cough) And so....she did. She cut up an old black shirt, found a short business skirt, pinned a cross on a headband, found an old slightly stained apron, and took the feather duster from above the fireplace. (not your ordinary nurse here) Voila. Piedmont Boutique is a fun place to window-shop. It's good for accessorizing Halloween outfits and 80's outfits, but the quality of the clothes are pretty poor and it's expensive for what you get. Apparently it's just as easy to create your own -make-shift spicy outfit .....ummmmmm yeah. read more

Such an iconic shop in San Francisco. Everyone knows and recognizes the fishnet-clad legs popping out over your head on Haight Street. Piedmont Boutique is one of a kind. They are known for hand-making many of their zany creations. From jewelry-necklaces, earrings, bracelets, headdresses, body wraps. To custom bras, shrugs, skirts, and everything in between. This place has everything whether you're a burner, raver, Halloween-lover, burlesque dancer, Lady Gaga impersonator (um...*cough), or simply a true San Franciscan looking for your next outfit for the weekend. It gets really packed, so the employees can get really overwhelmed with people attempting to try everything on and having 'selfie-photoshoots' in their store. The price is pretty steep, so I don't buy too much from here. But it's still one of my favorite stores to browse through and get inspiration for my next costumes! read more

Piedmont has a lot of funky gear and flashy accessories to wear (5 stars for the extensive selection), but the only thing is most of it costs way too much (3 stars for the price). I was in the market for some shinygoofy clothes for a desert event, and a friend recommended this place. Wow, rack after rack of shiny stretchy sparkly goodness - and they even had things in my size (xxl) - or at least things that stretched a little to make it to my size! The staff was awesome, helping pick things out and getting different sizes as I needed from the dressing room. Some of the things were pretty expensive - I got a purple shirt for $100, I don't know if I've ever spent $100 on a shirt - but it's great; other things were more reasonable. I love this place. If you like costumes you'll be like a kid in a candy store here. I wouldn't say it's cheap, some clothes and wigs are pretty expensive but if you love it and will wear the items again for . . .Halloween, B2B, Burning man, Pride, whatever .. then maybe you won't mind spending a little on a lot of fun. Try not to go here the day before an event or costumed holiday, there are often lines outside and it's very crowded inside with all their racks of outfits and such. A few of the items you can find here: wigs, feather boas, masks (the mardi gras type), costume jewelry, tutus of every color and length, tights, stockings, gloves, fake eyelashes in all sorts of colors, fuzzy vests, short skirts and crazy tops in many colors, materials, and prints. On my visit today the staff was very helpful and didn't even get annoyed when I changed my mind last minute on something and wanted another color. Luckily I had just beat the crowd who most likely is shopping for Pride attire today. Oops I have to take off one star for indeed having a very shitty website as another reviewer said. After doing some searches on Yelp and Google to find a place in SF selling fishnet shirts, I stumbled across Piedmont. I had seen the store a few times while shopping up in Haight-Ashbury but never ventured in. A few reviews definitely piqued my interest and I added it to one of the places to go to on one of my monthly trips up to the area (I hate biking up the hill). The inside is definitely bright and cheery and there looks to be a *huge* range of items. It's definitely a costume shop (I wasn't quite sure what to expect exactly). Everything for the masquerade, gay pride, or whatever it is you're into, they'll probably have it here. I noticed clothes, socks, leggings, jewelry, hair supplies, and even more. It's not a large shop, but it's crowded and the aisles are narrow. It was also pretty darn busy! I was greeted and helped promptly by the staff and quickly taken care of at the cash when I found what I was looking for. As other reviews have said, they don't have a return policy. The girl stamped my receipt with "ALL SALES FINAL", but it's not obvious from what I saw outside of this. Make sure you've picked up something you really want! If you're looking for outrageous outfits for costume parties, Bay to Breakers, raves, etc., Piedmont Boutique has you covered. I stopped in here in search of accessories for my Halloween costume - a mod girl from the 60s. They had exactly what I was looking for and at a reasonable price. The staff are ultra friendly, helpful and welcoming. The outfits are a bit expensive but it's because they make everything themselves. I ended up getting plastic bracelets with interchangeable colours and some white hoop earrings. The costume is nearly complete and much cheaper than I thought it would cost me. All jewelry was $4 each. I felt better supporting them than some big chain. It's a good place to get ideas, browse around and buy things. I'll definitely be back and/or recommending them to friends looking for costumes. read more
