Most of my family is buried here and I find this place pretty nice with the way they are setup with the different garden names. I'm always amazed at how many new rows of graves get added during each visit. It helps me remember where my final resting place will be before meeting my Lord. I feel the staff here are very kind and helpful. Recently I was stuck when I locked my keys in the car. I called the front office and they sent the gravedigger to my rescue, and he helped me unlock the car. During my wait time I thought of how the folks who have passed are in their graves with no escape, but if I could get back inside my vehicle I could drive off and either do more good or bad in life. These moments seem to help me remember my mission in life...to be good, help others, and worship my Creator as he instructed me to. There are a mixture of different gardens for different faiths which is always enlightening. Garden #9 is where most of my loved ones rest. I go here to find peace and pray for them and it helps me to remember death. Many people may disagree with my previous statement, but being reminded is good. Remember that if you feel the need to contemplate the graveyard is a great place. It should not be thought of as a depressing place, but as a place where we will eventually go before meeting our Maker. Take a seat on a bench in the garden and reflect on your life. This yelp review not only serves as a review of the cemetery but should help serve to let one sit and think and review themselves before it is too late. Be good to one another and be honest and kind. You only live once in this life and "Life is too short."

The grounds are massive and impeccably maintained with a clearly attentive and caring staff. Beautiful statuary throughout. You can basically play your own game of famous Houstonian bingo here - lots of street names can be found on the headstones here. Absolutely recommend planning a respectful, quiet, and contemplative visit to walk the grounds and take in the views.

By 1874, Glenwood was a recreational destination. A mule-drawn street railway operated on Washington Road, conveying people to Glenwood for weekend and holiday visits. Glenwood differs from most urban cemeteries of that time that had a grid pattern. Glenwood has meandering roads and trails and is beautifully landscaped. This historic cemetery is the final resting place of a number of individuals who were citizens of the short-lived Republic of Texas as well as famous citizens of Houston, Harris County and the state of Texas. One of the most famous buried here is Howard Hughes. The cemetery is a fun place to walk or bike ride, it's very shady so quite nice, even in summer. I was there as the new year came and enjoyed seeing many beautiful monuments.

From the initial call, to our first meeting and throughout the entire process, everyone was professional, thoughtful, patient and empathetic. Rita took her time and explained the entire funeral process to me (the changes due to the current pandemic). She also answered all of my questions (which were many) and addressed each of my concerns. The chapel at Brookside is ideal and beautiful for a nice intimate service. During a time of bereavement, I would absolutely recommend Brookside Funeral Home to assist you with your burial preparations. My sincere thanks to Rita and Brookside Funeral Home. I was unsure if I wanted to post this, but I was so impressed at the whole process of this funeral…read morehome experience. From the moment I walked into the building my mouth was open they left no detail unturned. They left no stone unturned and even though it was a sad occasion there was no reason to be sad. They did an amazing job. The details were on point from the presentation to the Repass dinner afterwards which was so convenient you didn't have to move your car during the entire process, we don't think about these things until we need it. But preplan burial is the best way to go. Family don't have to remember or guess what your wishes are. Everything you planned is executed and more. Check out the picture memorial. The cake was not theirs but omg is that gorgeous or what?
