While there is parking around the market, it can be a bit of a hassle if there are already 3-4 people shopping. Upon entering, I interacted with the server to discuss different chicken options. Unfortunately, the chicken thighs were sold out, so I opted for chicken breasts instead. Besides their meat selection, they also offer a variety of sauce rubs for enhancing your dishes. It's never ceases to amaze me the decisions some proprietors make, at the expense of their business. My last trip in to pick up various meats, for a BBQ, I noticed they were selling some chefs knifes that looked interesting and I purchased a couple. I believe I spent between 150-200 for the both of them. It turns out the knives were not interesting, didn't work particularly well, and the blade rusted immediately upon contact with water, and would not wipe clean. So I took them back to return them and even said she could go ahead and simply issue store credit. Clerk calls the owner and let's me know he said he wouldn't do either. Poor decision. Local establishment not treating the locals very well. Doesn't make sense to me. Wild Fork it is I guess for me, going forward. read more

If you didn't already know.. this place is full of quality meat of all shapes and prices. You can't go wrong or not find something. All sorts of different cuts of beef, as well as a few other items. A lot of spices to also choose from & you can also try them for free at the counter. The service was super helpful, offering ideas of how to cook the meat or the spices/sauces to use. To cook for my wife and I . we're only eating for two so a little bit of meat goes a long way .The meat is always high-quality and you know what you're getting a great tasting piece of meat. Very cool establishment and butchery featuring rare game meat and custom cuts. Store is clean and accessible. The staff I met was friendly and very personable. I feel this would be a great place for a true meat smoker/griller to a novice just learning, to someone buying the gift of raw animal. Located in the up and coming Heights neighborhood, it is easy to find and surrounded by the new 'cool' in Tampa. Parking is a bit of a challenge given the location on an intersection, but overall not a problem. Prices are appropriate for the meat you are purchasing and this isn't cheap butcher scraps. Because this will be my new go-to for grilling. --- --- --- Unless I'm just totally strapped for time and need to get my fix at my neighborhood Publix, I will absolutely be driving to Seminole Heights for steaks in the future. I've had a handful of 'special occasion' type meals at steakhouses over the past year and Heights Meat Market provided a better steak than any of them. And I am a wanna-be amateur griller, at best. I went with a wagyu ribeye, which was $36. Expensive for a steak you have to grill at home? Yes. But no less than half the price you'd pay for a wagyu ribeye at a high-end restaurant. I recently went to Council Oak and I believe they were charging $140 for that! I also really wanted to try elk meat after hearing Joe Rogan go on and on about how awesome it is. I did enjoy the elk meat, but the wagyu ribeye totally stole the show. It was easily the best steak I've ever grilled and probably on the Mount Rushmore for best steaks I've ever had. I am definitely going to have to come back here again soon because the variety is off the charts. Every kind of meat you can imagine legally purchasing can be found here. In addition, there's a great variety of sauces, seasonings and grill accessories that I wasn't even able to really dig into. I visited on a Sunday when the owner's mom is in, but she mentioned that her son works every other day and is a wealth of information for any question I might have about the art of grilling and any product he has on hand. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Heights Meat Market yet! I love coming here for special occasions or if I just want to try something different. I'm also very lucky that I'm a quick 5 minute drive away. They have pretty much every kind of meat that you can imagine from Elk to Ostrich. I've gotten some really amazing Pork Butts here. I've also tried their Wagyu Hamburgers and Hotdogs which were phenomenal. They also offer a variety of sauces and spices in-store. All the meats are pre-wrapped for freshness but you can also call and they will special order anything your heart desires. You'll notice that the quality of the meats here is SO much better than what you'll find at Publix. I definitely think you get what you pay for when it comes to meat. This is now the only place I buy my meat from. They have the juiciest chicken breasts, The steaks are SO tender, and they have a wide variety of meats. They do not have organs like liver, but they do have cool meat like Bison, Ostrich, Kangaroo, etc. This is the perfect spot to pick up steaks for a romantic home-cooked meal, or a bbq. Some of their meat can be pricey but you get what you pay for. Personally I never put a price on high quality food, because that's my fuel! 10/10 recommend!! read more

This place is awesome! I got the wagyu filets, ground beef patties, ribeye cap, and sausage. The filets were AMAZING!! I used two of the patties for burgers and two in a dish and my husband said my dish was better than normal. You will pay more in a restaurant for less quality. I would like to try some of their seasonings and thinking maybe it would be cool to give a small bag of seasoning with $100 purchase as a finger tasting doesn't tell me what it would taste like on the meat. Could also boost sales on the seasonings!! Second visit just as good as the first. Meant to get filets and realized when I got home that I got wagyu sirloin. LOL. I knew it was a lot less expensive and couldn't figure out why. Anyway, the sirloins were delicious and marbled perfectly. Impressed with the selection and the cleanliness. I liked how everything was already vacuum sealed as well. I picked up the wagyu filet and hanger steak the other night and it was perfect. I can see allot of fun Carnivorous meals being made. Not that I would try them but those who miss ostrich or alligator. You can find it here. It's Valentines Day and my wife doesn't care for flowers or candy. What she really appreciates is a great meal and I am basically her live-in chef. Being her husband of 32 years is totally secondary. For this Valentines Day she wanted a nice steak - a special steak - so I set out to find one. After a bit of online searching I ran across the Heights Meat Market, the only place in Tampa I found that has a selection of prime beef, wagyu beef, heritage pork, and exotic meats. I rolled in around 3 pm and, unfortunately, all of the wagyu filets and strips had been taken. The cupboards were somewhat bare. Apparently plenty of other chef husbands/wives had the same idea and were early birds. My bad for waiting until 3 pm. After some consternation I picked up a wagyu hanger steak and a couple of tomahawk pork chops. How serendipitous. A few years ago my wife and I vacationed in North Carolina for a week. During that time we bought some heritage pork chops from a specialty shop and they turned out to be absolutely amazing. We haven't found anything close since. These were easily the equal of those chops. Juicy, super flavorful, amazing. Turns out they were Duroc pork from...North Carolina. Looking forward to going back to the Heights Meat Market. Their products may seem somewhat pricey but you have to compare price vs. quality, and their quality is simply fantastic. read more

Two days ago I posted a negative review about the aged ribeye steak. Yesterday, I went back to the Land O Lakes new location and was impressed by the response from the owner. He not only refunded our $33 for the 1 pound aged beef, but also gave a us a free ribeye steak valued at $32. The aged beef was basically unedible. The replacement was devoured tonight as it was superb. Flavorful and tender to the last bite. These young folks are local entrepreneurs and need the support of our community. They separate themselves by carrying exotic meats and cuts of meat that you can't find any where else. I asked about smoked chickens as I needed some for a recipe I wanted to try. I was told they had none but could order them and would let me know in about a week when they came in. Two weeks went by - no call. I called them and was told they forgot to call me and would order again and let me know. Again, nothing. I decided not to try to chase them down to give them my money.
