We decided to try something different since we were in Tampa and made reservations for 8:15 PM. When we arrived, the entrance was packed and there was no host or hostess in sight. Several couples were waiting. While standing there, we heard a woman tell another patron she did not have a reservation, yet when the manager came out to seat guests, he seated a large group and then that party of three before the rest of us who had reservations. Shortly after, he loudly announced, "Reservations first," which was confusing considering what we all had just witnessed. When we were finally seated, we were initially placed at the worst table in the room by the kitchen and bathroom but were accommodated after requesting a move. We then waited 10-15 minutes before the manager instructed Daniel to take care of us. Daniel ended up being the highlight of the evening--professional, apologetic, and attentive despite circumstances clearly outside of his control. We ordered empanadas, only to find out the flavors we wanted were sold out. Daniel brought cheesesteak, four-cheese, and shredded beef instead. The cheesesteak had decent flavor but was dry. Overall, the empanadas were very doughy and the meat lacked moisture. We then ordered the All Beef Parrillada. When it arrived, my wife checked the temperature and tasted a small piece. Immediately after, a server returned and said the dish wasn't ours and took it back. We watched her walk into the kitchen and then bring the same tray out to another table seated two tables away--who had been seated after us. That was extremely concerning. To make matters worse, we were then informed that mashed potatoes were no longer available and needed to select another side--yet the table that received the dish we had touched was served mashed potatoes. We ended up with extra rice and spinach. The spinach was oily with no noticeable garlic, salt, or seasoning. The rice was plain white rice with peas and carrots and little flavor. The steak itself, however, was well-seasoned and prepared nicely. During our visit, we also noticed another Black couple seated next us who waited at least 30 minutes without being greeted or even served water. They eventually left. Shortly after, the table was seated with white males who were greeted and attended to within 10 minutes. That observation was very difficult to ignore after talking to them. Daniel did not charge us for the empanadas, spinach, or the sangria (which he made promptly so we wouldn't experience another long wait). The sangria was very good. His professionalism and sincere attitude were the only things that salvaged the evening. Overall, the service inconsistencies, food execution, and handling of dishes--especially serving a plate that had already been touched--were disappointing and extremely concerning. We came for a different experience, but unfortunately left questioning whether we would return. 2 stars for steak taste and season and Daniel's effort. read more

Perfectly seasoned, expertly cooked, and served sizzling hot. The ribeye was rich and tender with just the right char. Their chimichurri adds that bright, herby punch that takes everything up a notch. The empanadas are a must to start -- flaky, flavorful, and hard to share. I also love the beef carpaccio as a starter. The sides are classic and generous, and if you have room, don't skip dessert. Service feels personal and attentive without being overbearing. We decided to try Renzo's with a group of friends - to reconnect and spend a lovely evening with one another. Life is so fast that we sometimes forget to slowdown and spend time with those who mean the most to us. So- one of our party chose Renzo's because "I drive past the restaurant all the time and wanted to check it out" Our party of 5 drove together and we arrived around 6pm in a Friday night. We noticed that the restaurant was relatively sparse with customers and the lighting extremely bright- not much ambiance. I asked the host if it was normally that bright and if the lights dimmed any- and he said it was normal. So there ya have it. We were seated and looked over the menu to select a bottle of wine- the ones that one of our friends wanted were unavailable. As a matter of fact the server- Daniel- let us know that the top half portion of the wine list was unavailable and needed to be restocked- he explained that the restaurant sometimes offers specials and discounts on their wines and folks buy them up. I said- well the restaurant should keep a stock knowing this. Anyhoo- they decided on another bottle and went with that which seemed to work out fine. We decided to order apps- really wanted to try the empanadas - they offer beef,chicken,spinach and ham and cheese. Spinach was unavailable. So we tried the others. Also ordered the Gambas Al Ajillo- I really wanted to see how it compared to the same dish at the famed Columbia restaurant. Well, it fell short- the shrimp were large which was great but there was not a whole lot of flavor in the accompanying garlic oil. The empanadas were very doughy - the beef were "ok", the chicken were like eating moist saw dust- not much flavor, but the ham and cheese were delicious! Now on to the entree's. I ordered the churrasco steak medium. It was delicious. It was accompanied by white rice and I ordered maduros. The maduros were a bit overcooked to the point that they caramalized a bit which leads to a candy-like stickiness on the teeth. They tasted pretty good though! Everyone else seemed to enjoy their steaks. The portions are large. My husband ordered the braised short ribs which he enjoyed - it was a very large serving so he took the rest home. For desert we tried the -CHAJÁ - described as- "Renzo's signature dessert. Layered cake of "Dulce de Leche" caramel, peaches and walnuts. Covered in Chantilly cream and topped with meringue crumbles." It was delicious!! Daniel was our server and he was really wonderful- very helpful, kind, attentive and apologetic for the items that the restaurant did not have. I razzed him during the evening with little quips- "are you sure they aren't out of churrasco??" He played along in good fun. Renzo's isn't bad by any means - it's a decent restaurant. Just did not garner 4 stars or above. Would we try it again? Hmmmm- not sure. Once was probably enough for us. read more

Renzo's is a great local option if you are looking for an alternative to a chain like Outback or Longhorn that offers steak with a definitive Argentinean influence. The place is not big by any means, but it has a relaxing and welcoming ambiance. The service was friendly, professional and attentive and the food was overall very good. I went with the ribeye and for my side went with the potato salad. The ribeye was $38 and tge side was $6. Both were very good. I would definitely recommend Renzo's and I give it five stars. read more

I came to this restaurant when it first opened, back when I used to work in Tampa. Their quality of service and food have always been top, now with their new interior, it's an even better experience. Unfortunately I was too busy eating and didn't take a picture, but I do recommend the Renzo platter if you want to sample their meats, the seafood is also amazing as well. They did a major renovation and it looks super chic. It was totally dead when we walked in around 1pm on a Monday. Took a minute to have someone come out and seat us. And then we waited a bit to do our orders... the main reason I wanted to go was for their lunch menu. Much to my surprise that does not exist anymore... so sad because I remember it was such a good deal for lunch and so well worth it to go there... we got the empanadas and Pinacha steak with spinach. The empanadas were yummy. We got the chicken, beef and ham& cheese. I liked the ham & cheese the best. The steak was a weird mix of tender yet super chewy... it was seasoned well but needed something and I got a side of Chimichurri sauce. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture. It had a lot of grizzle but it also came with 3 small steaks so the price was decent for $26 for that dish. The spinach was basic and boring... just parboiled and plated. read more

Renzo's is a very well established stake house. I use to go with my family all of the times but they sadly started something called a large group fee. My family consist of 6 people. It's expensive enough when you are ordering 40 dollar plates. The extra fee just seems like a money grab. Would recommend for date spot but not a family dine in experience. My wife and I shared a porterhouse steak and ordered sides for our meal. The porterhouse was only $65 for a 28 ounce steak. The steak was dry aged and they even Sliced it for us to be easier to share. It was perfectly cooked and juicy with outstanding flavor. The service is excellent and very friendly. Didn't have room for coffee since we were Sangriad out but this might be a great spot just for coffee and dessert, since the desserts were so good. As an appetizer, I ordered their Gambas (Shrimp) and it was really amazing. The aroma of the shrimp was superb. I forgot to count how many pieces of shrimp the dish had, but it was plenty. The snapper was pretty dry which was disappointing and the presentation wasn't very appealing. The Caesar salad was delicious and I did get to try the Riesling which you can't really go wrong with a good Riesling. Why 4 stars? Great steak, casual environment and a solid alternative to other places in the area. Friendly servers and good wine selection earns this place a multi-visit on my list when my cravings for meat need to be met. In my most recent travel back to Tampa (my job has me going all over the place), Renzo's is on the list of places I love to go eat at after a long week. The big meat trays (Parrilla), the wine, and the small restaurant feel is just what is needed to unwind. Add some Tostones, Fried Yucca and a caprese salad and you have yourself a solid meal. Between my wife and I we always have a little extra to bring home as well. The different cuts of Argentina style beef all have a unique but delicious consistency that we always enjoy. If you're into having a nice casual steak dinner, with plenty to eat, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try. Oh and don't forget to save room for dessert, or bring some home to have :) read more

Let me start off by saying I love a good steak. I had high hopes for Renzo's, which was a quick disappointment. My sister and I had a noon Mother's Day lunch reservation to avoid the crowds. Right away, the service felt rushed. We arrived five minutes early and were quickly swept to our table. The restaurant was mostly empty, but ok, let's hurry along. Because of the reviews we were eager to try the argentinas empanadas, two beef, and two chicken, which both lacked flavor. The beef was dry, and the chicken was just bland. We did enjoy the baked crust but nothing else. I was not eager to pay $95 for a steak after this. Instead, we both ordered the steak medallions with fries and a side of veggies, hoping the flavor would inspire us to order more. The beef tips were from a cheap chewy cut of steak, which also lacked flavor. The fries were old and soggy from the oil the meat was cooked in. I immediately returned my food. The sauce was light and fresh. The shrimp and lobster was not over cooked which is key to a dish like this. Other individuals in my party ordered the steaks. Me and my partner's favorite place to get steaks! I definitely recommend getting the parillas, it's a really great value and you get so many great cuts of meat. Everything was super juicy and tender, I think my favorite had to be either the short ribs or the pork chops. I also love getting the yucca fries, they're always super crispy and the mayo sauce pairs perfectly with them. The parrilla was good but everything else was ok or low quality.We were trying to give this place a second chance but we won't be coming back, service was bad, constantly had to ask for Things, we were a family of 2 adults 3 kids and were considered a large party and got charged an 18% automatic tip and the service was not worth that! How is that a large party? Stay away from the chimichurri sauce it tastes like fish oil and garden rice tasted old. I can't believe it took me so long to give Renzo's a try. For some reason I pictured it as a stuffy steak house, but I couldn't have been more wrong. We went on a Friday for lunch, and there were only three or four other tables in the place. Atmosphere was a little dim, I guess to provide a more intimate dining experience, but there was a television turned on at the far end of the dining room, which struck me as odd. I ordered a mojito, but the waitress wasn't sure if the bar was serving yet (??) so I switched to a diet coke. I absolutely loved my Capresara salad, to which I added chicken breast. The large was enough for two meals. The avocado, mozzarella, and tomatoes were very fresh and delicious tasting; the chicken was a generous amount and seasoned very well. We split tostones - I love when they are served crunchy and flat. And we also split an order of yuka fries, which I ended up with a blurry picture of because I was in such a hurry to eat them. Our waitress was friendly and efficient; she brought me a new soda without even asking. Food arrived in a surprising little amount of time. Plenty of free parking was provided in the strip mall parking lot outside. Renzo's will definitely be on my regular rotation now. read more
