The staff is friendly and helpful, and the exam process is very organized and streamlined. Dr. Nastasoiu was very thorough with my exam, and straight forward about my poor habits of over wearing my contacts. She opened a discussion of other, healthier, options for me and listened to my concerns, which made me trust her so much and know that she truly cares about my eye health! Optometrist was awesome Dr Davis was super nice and detailed about her exam. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because there is not a huge selection of glasses not to many designer frames and expensive. I have excellent eye insurance and almost spent $400 out of pocket. I was also in shock when I was charged and additional cost of $35 for a photo of my retina. They didn't ask me if I wanted this so I only assumed that it was covered. Not sure if I would go back again but for the situation we are currently in I was able to get in fast for an appointment. read more

Being fairly new to San Diego, I had to set up a new network of doctors, which I was really nervous about. I used Yelp to look for eye doctors fairly close to my new neighborhood, and I am very glad I came upon Heights and Dr. Walton. Her and her staff are very kind and helpful and do a great job of explaining everything from care to cost and will go the extra mile to check for deals and rebates. Dr. Walton was actually able to lower my prescription, and was able to tell me why that happens. I didn't lose any clarity in what I was seeing. She said looking out for the future of my eyes, and this was definitely a good thing. My husband will be needing to go to the eye doctor in a couple months, and I will definitely be having him go there as well. I will be honest and say that I don't even wear glasses, the only reason why I even went over there is because I had met the lady that was singing next door and she invited me to come watch her performance, overall it was a very nice atmosphere with the live performance, extremely nice staff, very clean and trendy atmosphere which makes you want to go there for your glasses. I have went to this optometrist 2 seperate times. The first time I tried getting colored contacts which resulted in a full refund because they were impossible to wear. Fast forward to my next visit, the whole office staff is incapable of reading my exceptional benefits. I had to tell them how my benefits work, but even after all that I was told my benefits would not cover contacts. Needless to say, I paid out of pocket and it has caused another huge headache. If you want to support small businesses but don't want to get ripped off, I would go elsewhere. I have been shopping for a new optometrist for a few months, and when I came across Heights, it was just perfect. While my previous optometrist was great, one thing that didn't have me go back was their selection of eyewear. Yes, they have plenty of designer frames and other select frames with discounts but I honestly wasn't interested with their inventory based on their styles and their price tag. Heights offer off-brand and some known brands but they are affordable and can be within your insurance budget if they can cover $200 frames, which mine did. I just had to pay for the lens and the co-pay. Retinol examination is an extra $30 that is usually not covered by your insurance. It is recommended to check on your eyes with this exam! Denver, Mike, and the rest of the opticians helped me a lot and they were very hospitable and welcoming. I appreciated them helping me find a pair of frames even when I didn't enroll as a patient first. I wanted to shop for frames before I commit, lol. The building is spacious and well-decorated with all things optic like paintings with animals wearing glasses to mid-century vintage furniture (they have big comfy armchairs!). It's a quirky and welcoming place! Definitely has your eye wandering! Doctor Meredith was very nice and made me feel at ease during my entire exam. This was the best eye exam I have ever had in my life! I've been wearing glasses and contact lenses since I was 12 years old. After multiple eye exams from numerous doctors, I have to say Dr Marcelline Ciuffredo stood out among the best! She was friendly, professional, thorough and very knowledgeable. My expectations were completely exceeded. Furthermore, the rest of the office staff were also upbeat and sociable while maintaining professionalism. I never felt pressured to buy anything. And I never felt like I wasn't being well-cared for. From the moment I called to make an appointment to the moment I stepped back onto Adams Street, I felt like my business was valued. I had such a wonderful experiences. Let me start off by saying I was so intimated by the process of getting my eyes checked and purchasing new glasses and contacts. My insurance policy and what it provides me was like a foreign language. Right away before even confirming an appointment they told me everything about my insurance plan, eye exam process, and what my benefits have to offer. Most places I've gone to previously have never done this so it was such a relief to really understand what I'd be expecting to pay. The office visit and eye exam was wonderful, everyone was so great. From picking frames to testing my contacts. The turn around time for my new frames was exactly a week and I have to say, they are so my style. My husband and I made an appointment at Heights Optometry and I am so glad we did! From the moment I called in to schedule the appointment to the actual visit, the customer service was top notch. We had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Ciuffreda and she was incredible! She was very friendly, knowledgeable, easy to talk to and overall she made me very comfortable. My husband has been suffering from dry skin around his eyes and tear ducts and although that isn't what we went in for, Dr. Ciuffreda noticed it and immediately offered a solution by prescribing him with an ointment to help get rid of it. If I could give this place a 10 star I would. They were very helpful with new admits. Dr. Walton personally spoke to me on the phone and asked about my eye history. She also explained the kinds of eye test do they offer: contacts, reading glasses, etc. Being new to the area, I was very lost and didn't know where to park, but I had no trouble finding the building as well as parking actually. The area was easy to navigate. Not only was Dr. Walton amazing, but the staffs as well! I had a few questions in regards to my glasses and the eye technician answered them all! I've passed by Heights Optometry frequently when in the neighborhood, so when it came time for me to choose a new optometrist, I did some more research on them and immediately knew that they were the place for me. The entire staff was so warm and friendly, from Michael and the other woman (I'm sorry that I forgot your name!) who assisted with my check-in and initial tests to Dr. Walton who was very easy to talk to and explained everything as she was doing it in a way that was easy to understand without being condescending. I'm especially thankful for Holly, the optician. After finding a pair of Lafont frames online that I absolutely fell in love with that they didn't have in store, she was able to find that they were able to special order them for me. I also appreciate that she double-checked the frame sizes and had me try on some comparable sizes in store to ensure that they would be a good fit, and let me know about one potential issue with these frames (slightly longer temple length). I've had a few times in the past where I either ended up with glasses that I didn't really like because offices wouldn't/couldn't look into frames beyond what they had in stock, or ending up with frames that were a poor fit overall because they just wanted to make a sale. Lastly, they have great business practices, if that's important to you. I love that they participate in community events like Art Around Adams and support their neighboring small businesses as well. They also offer a huge selection of unique frames from a wide variety of designers at all price ranges, not just the same generic choices that you'll find at most optometrists or stores. read more

I've got a crazy prescription due to some unfortunate head trauma sustained in my younger years. (A few concussions from trying to fly using a snowboard. Tip: stick to airplanes and other real flying machines instead. Much safer.) I had been seeing the same optometrist in North County for years -- but he retired and the guy who took over his practice was a greedy, self-absorbed wacko. And he looked like a weasel. You shouldn't have to choose between blurry vision and people who creep you out. But then I found Heights Optometry and Dr. Walton. And things quickly turned around. I was initially drawn to this office by its close proximity to my house, range of great frame companies, and the fact that they actually give back to the community. (Suck on that, Mr. Greedy Optometry Guy!) Since then, I've been continually blown away by this office and staff. The vision care and level of service Dr. Walton has provided me have been absolutely phenomenal. On more than a few occasions, she's gone the extra mile (doing research to learn about my weird vision problems, fielding questions via email, etc.). My eyes have never been happier. I've since moved (slightly) further away from her Normal Heights office, but it doesn't matter. I'd keep working with her even if she moved an hour away. Five stars. read more

I started going to Heights Optometry shortly after they opened and have never had anything less than a great experience. I love Dr. Walton, particularly that she doesn't seem to push services on you. Recently, I decided to get some glasses from them as well. I have trouble getting glasses bc I have specific frame needs (i.e., narrow or child frames). I've been using Warby Parker but wanted the good lenses bc of all of my computer use. John, an optician, exceeded expectations in helping me out. He identified 2 frames that I wouldn't have picked for myself but love then measured and wrote the specs down for each since, as a working mom, I can't usually get in during business hours. I was able to just call today and order the ones I wanted without having to go back in! I appreciate his ability to work with my schedule. read more

This is the best place for friendly, thorough & comfortable eye exams! And this 64 year old woman has had many eye exams in my life! I also made the huge mistake of falling for JCPenneys buy 2 get one free deal last year & suffered through a year of wearing incorrect lenses so cheaply made that they couldn't even be cleaned with their own solution. Then they wanted to charge extra for another exam. You get what you pay for right? Luckily, Heights Optometry is at the opposite end of the spectrum Before I went for my appointment, both Michael & Christie answered multiple questions over the phone & worked on getting my insurance verified. On the day of my appointment Michael, the optician, worked over an hour with me in finding the correct frames for my face within my financial limit. They have a huge current stock in all price ranges to choose from & he was the most patient & professional young man. I then met Sarah, the optometrists assistant, who recorded a very thorough medical & prescription history followed with a preliminary eye exam using the most current, painless equipment. She was a very lovely, sweet & professional young lady who then introduced me to Dr Marcelline Ciuffredo who spent awhile testing my eyes using the eye charts & going over my medical & visual history in order to find the best lenses to correct my vision. She also answered multiple questions & told me how to treat my very dry & scratchy eyes. She was very kind but most importantly, she was thorough! I have to add that if I had a child with any vision issues or concerns, this, is the place I would go. Oh geeze, don't know where to begin except to say off that bat - was truly disappointed with my experience here, and wish for a better outcome . Don't like writing bad reviews or to say I don't go out of my way, and in this case I had to. To begin, I buy glasses like every 8 years as there usually about $450 plus, so there a treat for me, but everything needs updating. I was dealing with a young gal not sure of her name maybe Michelle , dosent matter now as she was fired , thank goodness she was( was just rude overall, and cold and gave some bad stank attitude vibes), so was dealing with her ! Ordered the desired glasses , and they tuned out to be wide and heavy for my face, wanted to get a refund even if I lost money and just leave and cooper glasses in a different city as I found there selection to be limited . So they only offer refunds within a month, O had asked if there was a new shipment coming cause no other glasses I liked or suited me , they said few weeks . Well that didn't happen, asked if I can wait till comes in, she said well you have a week left. Thought that was rude as I didn't like any other glasses. Then decided on one pair that I could care nothing for - sooooooo bummer about that. Ordered them, she told me $75 was due when I picked them and she said she had ordered them as I was leaving for 2 weeks on vacation, I Come back, and was told she didn't order them , and I asked why? They said I didn't pay, and I said she didn't ask me for payment she said pay at the time of pickup ! Anyway no one called me to notify me that! She in that time got fired - yeah. Then they ordered glasses finally , 2 plus weeks go by, I go in and asked where the glasses are , and said we called you they didn't pass inspection, lol, I said , I did not get calls from you guys ever, can you check if you have my number , it was correct . She then asked me to wait so she can call the lab! And I said no thanks , do your job and call me ! Being a small business owner myself , I believe explaining where you went wrong and being professional is most important. I find all the woman to be rude and cold, and selection sub par. Worst experience overall They should check there attitudes at the door read more
