I'm terrified of doctors. It's a totally irrational thing, but I hate going to see doctors because I'm afraid they're going to ask me if I exercise regularly & eat healthy & all that jazz, & if I say no (because I don't) they're going to tell me what a horrible person I am. My paranoia is so bad that if the doctor isn't friendly, I get the compulsion to lie & say I do everything right; & even if the doctor IS friendly, I usually get so stressed out that I start crying while I'm there -- for something as basic as a routine exam! This isn't helped by the fact that one doctor I had told me that my sudden onset of knee pain was because I was overweight (by all of 10 pounds...) & there was nothing I could do to relieve the pain other than lose weight, so I should come back & see her again in 6 months. THANKS, BITCH. But I digress. Dr. Perez puts me totally at ease. He talks to me like a friend, & it helps, of course, that he's known my fiance since he was little & he knows my in-laws & asks after them. I've never had a family doctor like this, & after seeing Dr. Perez I deeply regret that. He chats about all sorts of stuff with me while doing the exams (I've seen him for abdominal pain, shoulder injury, common cold, knee pain... bunch of stuff) -- school, work, travel, hobbies -- anything to put me at ease. He's gentle as can be in the physical examinations & when he prescribes me medicine he'll tell me if he knows a pharmacy that carries my rx cheaper than the rest. His staff are great -- Melissa, one of his nurses, is the most adept blood-drawer I've ever met, including Red Cross blood drive attendees. I feel NOTHING when she does it. Seriously, I don't ever want to see another doctor again other than Dr. Perez because I just feel so comfortable & so free to explain my problem & not feel afraid that I'm going to get scolded.

I loved the provider I saw. I did cancel ahead of time my follow up visit with provider since I could see the labs online and I knew the answer was that my labs were normal and there would be no treatment needed. Many months later I woke up with a swollen eye. I called clinic and asked if I could get squeezed in that day. And wonderfully yes and I was happy. I also work in the health field and have patients. I was discussing my patients and lost track pf time. I started heading to this practice. I knew I'd be maybe 20 min late so I called. The lady on the phone was very nice. But said I was too late for the appointment and I understood. I asked the lady on the phone would I be charged for missing an appointment. Her answer was a "no don't worry you will not be charged". She asked if I wanted to get rescheduled. I told her that I didn't know if I could fit it in the next day but said okay good ahead and book it. Even with me expressing that I didn't know I could make it, the lady on the phone never said that if I somehow can't make it that I will be charged. Maybe I am an idiot, but I thought when I asked her if I'd be charged and her answering no, that that meant the place had no fees for missing (some places don't). I couldn't make the rescheduled visit. And yet again I spent a whole day with my patients and was not able to make it. I admit I didn't call them but was very busy and the practice was closed by the time I left work (6:10 pm). I notice a $50 fee today for missing. I called the practice and expressed my confusion with what the lady on the phone said as no you won't be charged for missing statement. I was polite. I asked for manager to reach out to me. Instead of customer service and asking me the patient what all happened and listening, I get a long text of dry black and white: "...Our office has a late cancel/no show policy that was informed to you when you initiated care. Due to the late cancel we waived the first fee and then you proceeded to no show your appt without contacting the office. Unfortunately, we are not able to waive this fee since this is your second no show/late cancel and have been aware of our office policies..." I was disheartened that they didn't even ask me about the situation. No, I was not aware of their policy even though I signed it many months ago. That is why I asked the lady on the phone if I am charged for missing the appointment. I sent a text back trying to explain that and got another dry black and white response back that I signed the documents on the no show/missed in July. I messaged to cancel all my appointments at their clinic. I wanted time to think about if I would want to come back or not. It was simple. No extra words. Was never mad. Frustrated, yes, but never angry. Just said to cancel all my appointments at their clinic. I tried to get back on the patient portal to pay the missed appointment balance and it will not let me on. So I text the number back asking if my portal was closed. I was met with a text that said "Your chart has been closed as you requested as you were not in agreement with our attendance policy. Please establish care with another Provider. Your No show fee has been waived..." I tried messaging back saying I never asked for my chart to be closed and never said I won't be in compliance of a no show fee. I do not mind paying no show fees when I know about it. That I simply was frustrated at their practice for the miscommunication of the lady on the phone saying there was no missed fee and was hit with a fee and appreciated a phone call to express my disappointment in a calm way. No response since. I'm pretty appalled at their customer service skills. It's a pity. I was excited to have this place as my family doctor place. Maybe they were jaded by patients not wanting to pay no show fees that they disregarded me wanting to politely talk about it. It is a shame. ​​

I called a week ago friday and left a message for my patient records which is state and federal law, called back Monday and she said they were just going to call me and asked for my email address and she would email me immediately with access to my records, a week later i just left another voice message, which i'm certain having seen my phone number they just put me into voice mail. so now i'm forced to go to the FL Board of Medicine to report these liars, while this just delays further my ability to reinstate my FAA medical. But I would NEVER want to venture through modern medicine without the type of guidance this practice provides. You'll get the most value from this if you're someone who is proactive about their health and longevity. If you're into that - prepare for the best experience of your life. Most people don't care about their health until it's already failed. Dr Matusewicz has some miracle-patients that have recovered from crippling ailments as well -- but my point is, you have to be willing to make some small changes in your life (and not just depend on surgeries and prescriptions to reactively fix things that have failed). If you do unfortunately need to go into surgeries and prescriptions, Dr Matusewicz becomes even more necessary. I would have had my surgeries done by a junior surgeon at the local hospital if it was not for her. She sprung into action, and somehow managed to get me under one of the world's leading surgeon's knife within 72hrs of my diagnosis (at one of the world's best hospitals). I would have paid 100x what I have paid Dr Matusewicz for just this one example of how she's helped me and my family. I constantly tell people they NEED to get a Doctor like Dr Matusewicz to help them and their families. I truly feel terrible that people are forced to stumble through modern medicine without the true representation someone like her provides... But if you're expecting the same-old general care physician, who is just going to repeat whatever they were taught in med school - then this is not the practice for you. Dr Matusewicz is constantly exploring the cutting edges of nutrition, diagnostics & medicine. Traditional medicine doesn't allow the time and trial required and most functional practitioners do not have the ability to prescribe the required drugs. They are limited to supplements. I will say.... it would be great if they (or ANY) urgent care would remain open past 7 or 8 pm. I remember back in the day places used to stay open until 10-11 pm. It doesn't exist anymore but I wish this place would be. On to the review... So I was experiencing some symptoms I had never had before and while trying to reach my primary care and other Drs for some assistance in what I was feeling and maybe how to handle, I was not able to get through nor get any return calls in a timely fashion. I went to another urgent care close by and they did not have the equipment available for what they were suggesting and recommended Guidewell. I was reluctant because it was way up the road, it was getting late in the afternoon, the traffic etc and still not getting any answers on how to diagnose and treat my symptoms. I took a chance, I called on the way and made an appointment. When I got there, the staff was very nice, they helped me get started with the check in process and the wait time was not that long, there were a few people ahead of me. Plus I had the appointment if there was a long wait. Once I was brought back, they triaged me, asked all the questions and immediately started with BP and the basic stuff, then they didn't just take blood but in case I needed fluids they put in an IV that would give them the option later rather than sticking me twice...luckily I didn't need fluids. They ran quite a few tests and in a very timely manner. When it was time for the doctor to come in, she listened, she was patient, she was very professional and cordial and very thorough going over my results and recommendations. I would definitely come here in the future...but beware the hours.
