The Heineken Experience could do so much more to make the history come alive! I have traveled a bit and been on many tours! This tour lacked the sharing of knowledge about the roots of Heineken and didn't lean into the tech they have for visitors to experience! Get VR Headsets...share more history and engage the groups more with questions. I feel with this museum..you have an opportunity to have an impact vs. feeling like you scamming people on an experience that doesn't deliver!
Way better than I expected. Been to a lot of brewery tours, most of which were a bit boring. This stands out from all of them. Lots of effort put into their walkthrough. Your ticket comes with two tokens that are good for two half pints of Heineken at the end of the tour (you end up at a bar where fresh, crisp half pint Heinekens are on tap). Coolest part of the tour is sort of a 3D ride inside an enclosed room. Lots of dazzling visuals. Probably not a good idea if you're claustrophobic or easily affected by visual stimuli. Near the end of the tour, there are kiosks where you can order a Heineken bottle that you can customize with your name (or whatever you'd want to put there that doesn't go over the word count limit). Costs about 17 euro, but I think it's a nice souvenir. Check this museum out if you're out here. Well worth it.
Heineken is a well worth stop during your time in Amsterdam! A Dutch staple of course!! It's super cool to see the origin of Heineken, where it made and how. I recommend purchasing tours ahead of time and including the roof top in your tour. You get to explore the factory on a guided tour and at the end, you can go to the rooftop to enjoy the views and have another beer complementary. At the end of the tour you can enjoy a Heineken at the "Best Dam Bar". Enjoying a Heineken where it originated, what can be better?! This is for sure a must visit, even if you're not extremely into beer everyone knows the name Heineken, so it's informative at the least!
Purchased walk-in tickets on a Monday for ~5pm. Experience starts off with a history lesson (as expected). Then comes the "immersive" portion, which was a lot of augmented reality, video games (FIFA, etc), photobooths, and more. Don't forget to email the photobooth pics to yourself! Our ticket tier gave us 2 tokens to use for drinks. Our guide threw an extra token on the ground at the beginning of the tour if you're keen on getting an extra drink. Lots of walking, decent amount of stairs. The drinking area floor was pretty sticky, and there are staff who are constantly floating around to take away empty glasses *immediately*. Bathroom attendants also very attentive. You can purchase a personalized bottle mid-tour, which becomes ready for pick-up at the end. Overall, pretty fun experience for all ages whether or not you like beer (but especially the male audience). Definitely on the pricey side, but still fun. Don't forget about the tax refund if you purchase more than $50.
I'll be honest, I am not the biggest support of Heineken beer, living in the US with so many craft breweries around. But when in Amsterdam... This venue and experience was on prior to leaving the for Amsterdam, but I would not have been upset had we not made it. Thankfully on our last full day in the city we walked from Amsterdam-Noord, took the ferry across the IJ and made our way south to arrive at a large red bricked building off S100 or Stadhouderskade. We entered the building with Heineken bottles lining the ceiling and using the self service machines wanted to purchased two tickets with roof top access. Unfortunately, not reserving prior to arriving, the roof top experience was sold out, so we opted for the cheaper tour tickets. Yes, we would still get a free Heineken or two or four. MY girlfriend checked her coat and bag as we queued in the line waiting to be admitted to the start of the tour, as our tickets were validated, we made our way into a stone and brick waiting area that designated the start of the tour. after about 20 minutes our guide finally welcomed us to the experience. We just happened to be standing in front of the guide, who was speaking to the group from up on a rounder and tossed me a circular plastic coin good for "1 consumptie." We had already been give two prior to entering. These would be redeemed later for our free beers. The tour was quite interesting and informational. The guides discussed the history of the Heineken, how it came to the US, the ingredients and brewing and bottling process. I'll admit it did get a bit "commercial" after learning about the beer and process it goes through. Heineken is tied world wide with advertising, so it wasn't surprising to see this included in the tour. The tour ended and we had the opportunity to purchase personalized bottles of the beer. I spent the extra money and picked one up for a friend of mine who loves his Heine! It was finally time to consume some fresh Heineken. Now, like I started this review, I will be honest, it was damn good! Maybe I was just thirsty and yearning for a beer, but the flavor was so much better than what I'd tasted in the US. Think I knocked back 4 beers before we left the bar and picked up our personalized bottle. But here was the cool part. My girlfriend went to pick up her bag and coat and started talking to the gal behind the desk. A few minutes later a young guy working for the Experience appeared and the four of us started talking. They asked where we were from, we did the same and about 20 minutes later, the guy asked if we were going to the rooftop experience. I said tickets were sold out, so he provided us with some drink chits and escorted us to the elevator for the rooftop. We got to the rooftop, grabbed our two beers and joined everyone else out of the roof that provided a beautiful view of Amsterdam. The beer? Fantastic! I had some special version of the beer only brewed for the Heineken Experience. Recommend? Oh hell yes! Great fun. Great experience! It was a fun experience to learn about Heineken. The place tells you all about the history and there is a tour guide who explains the process. Your ticket comes with 2.5 beers which is plenty. The end of the tour is the bar where there's lots of people, and then exits through the gift shop. The experience is pleasant and staff are friendly.
Overall a cool experience thats like a one and done kind of thing. It's pretty made up, but not as intense as the Guiness museum in Ireland. You start on the ground floor and see come racecar displays and then go up where it more of a self-guided walking tour, seeing the barrels. Once you get into the room where you get your pint glass, there's someone speaking to you. Then there's various photobooths (meant for tall people, I was on my tippy toes to get my floating head in) and semi-random activations like a biking activity. The top floor is like a frat house where the floor is so sticky from beer so opt to drink in the rooftop area instead.
Fun interactive place in Amsterdam we visited a while ago and forgot to post. There is an age restriction on young children I noticed to keep in mind if visiting with children. We had a great time visiting and loved all the interactive things we could do there. I am not a beer fan but still had a nice time ... they also had a bar inside with a free beer that I gave to my husband to enjoy. We would come back again if we had the chance- we had a fun time!
A must for every tourist! I'm not a huge fan of beer (vodka/fruity drinks for me) but this was a great experience to see how beer is made. From the history of Heineken to the smelly gross barley/yeast, you'll really see how everything is really made. You even get to try some freshly brewed beer. At some points during the tour it did get a little "Instagrammy". BEWARE: There are quite a lot of stairs. There is an elevator, but it wasn't very reliable. The staff were friendly and were able to answer questions. I highly recommend the full VIP service.
I was reluctant to go to this attraction, as I am not a beer drinker. However, when some fellow non beer drinkers told me they enjoyed the "experience", I put it on our itinerary. We made reservations online on the same day we visited. This is not just a tour of an old beer factory, but a multi-media experience. Your ticket includes two beers at the end of the tour. I recommend adding the rooftop option where you can get another beer or a beer cocktail. There are several options for cocktails and they were delicious.
The Heineken Experience in Amsterdam is such a fun and memorable tour! It's really well put together -- interactive, engaging, and full of history about the brand. The exhibits are modern and entertaining, and you get to learn not only about the brewing process but also about Heineken's place in Dutch culture. The atmosphere is lively, the staff are friendly, and of course, the tastings at the end are a highlight! Thought it was pretty fun! We did not order tickets in advance and just walked in to buy tickets. It was about 445 on a Saturday and they only had 545pm + timeslots, rooftop was sold out. Appreciated the check in desk- we had a ton of shopping bags and coats, so it was nice to drop off at no extra charge. Tour was crammed as maybe 80ish people were in it at a time. But near the end it became a bit more spaced out. TONS of steep tiny Amsterdamian stairs.. just an FYI. Was self guided yet there were hosts basically reaching the tour paragraphs out loud, but it was hard to hear. You couldnt really do an "audio" tour unless you brought headphones for your own device, which no one had. Some people were playing the audio tour clips on speakerphone in their language, which was distracting. I just read it via close caption option. Near the end you get a small taster then the roudy party started at the bar where you exchange your two plastic tokens for beers. Floor was very sticky lol, but bartenders were nice and served fast. Pro tip: Once you're ABOUT to exit the entire tour there is one more optional customizable machine. It's for wooden coasters or a bottle opener. Had we known, we would have skipped the customer bottle, but it was still a cute souvenir.

If you love beer and/or enjoy history, you'll love the Heineken Experience. I've been during the summer and the winter. During the summer, it is worth doing the experience with the canal tour to A'Dam lookout. The winter experience, however, is just as fantastic. The tour is educational and delicious (tasting opportunities)! The warehouse is industrial, yet artsy, warm, and fun to navigate. Everyone working here was friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and have highly recommended to friends and family who have also visited and had a blast! read more
This experience exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be a cute walkthrough of some pictures and videos regarding the history. No! It was an experience as indicates in the name. It was very interactive. Warning...if a person is prone to flash seizures DO NOT GO, or skip certain parts. The host will forwarn you. There are tastings, smellings, and even digital souveniers. You can peraonalize your own bottle of beer and there is a gift shop. I may come back next time I'm in Amsterdam. read more
This is a fun tour and one that I will recommend if you are visiting Amsterdam. First things first, make an online booking ahead of time to avoid waiting outside for tickets. It could take anywhere between 30 to 90 minutes for walk ins. Online bookings also offer some reduced pricing too. The cost of the ticket includes 2 beers in the lounge at the end of the tour. The tour is self guided except the first 10 minutes, which is the introduction. You can pace yourself for the rest of the tour and spend time in areas that are of interest. It is a fairly interactive tour with fun kiosks, photo booths, games and other experiences. You get to understand the process of brewing and learn some fun facts. The bracelet for entry has 2 tokens that can be exchanged for 2 glasses of beers at the end of the tour. You can get the beers at the bar or save it to participate in the bar tending competition on the top floor. They teach you to pour the beer the right way from the tap and you compete with others. The winner gets an additional glass of beer too! The tour ends with you in the gift shop. They do have some cool merchandise that can be personalized, at an additional cost of course! If you enjoy drinking beer and want to experience something unique and different, this tour is for you. Do not miss it, for beer's sake!!! read more

I thought Heineken Experience was a great time, and would definitely recommend it to all those visiting Amsterdam. Located fairly close to the Van Gogh museum, we decided to pair these two on the same day. Priced at 18 euros each, expect to spend at least 2 hours here, as there really is a lot to see, learn, and do. Three beers were also included in our tickets, which made this tour feel like a great value. Admittedly, Heineken Experience started off a little slow for me. The first part was like a museum, with employees talking about the history and various aspects of the brewing process. As the tour continued, it became a lot more interactive and fun. This place is surprisingly huge, with many different rooms. Being bottled and packaged was perhaps the highlight. I thought the ride was very well done. Towards the end, we were able to customize our own Heineken bottles and enjoy a couple of cold beers at the bar. The experience was pretty cool and unique. At the end, you'll exit through a gift shop, where you'll have the chance to buy some souvenirs. Overall, Heineken Experience was able to meet my fairly high expectations. If visiting Amsterdam, definitely check this place out! read more

We highly recommend taking the VIP experience. Well worth the extra $$ as you get a behind the scenes tour of the Heineken history and also get a tasting of 5 of their beers (only one original Heineken...others are ones they own and brew). And by tasting, I mean 5 regular servings!! Our guide, Delores, was awesome. Very knowledgeable and very engaging. 15 years of experience. The groups are limited to a max of 10 people making it more personal and engaging. Each person also receives a personalized Heineken bottle as a keepsake. You need to reserve early as the availability is limited and spaces fill quickly. read more

This is a first rate brewery tour. Not only educating us on the history of this storied brew house but also succeeding in entertaining us at the same time. It is well organized and thoughtful. Had a great time at the Heineken Experience. Ordered tickets in advance online and they scanned the barcode at check in, no wait. They taught us about that brewing process and the history behind it. I really enjoyed the interactive parts towards the end of the tour. After we were done with the tour we were given a glass from the brewery to drink. We spent about an hour and a half in total. I had visited here years ago and can say they added more things to the tour so even if you have gone in the past it's worth going again. Definitely recommend this tour for anyone who is in the area. read more

This was a decent experience. When you start the tour it's very crowded. However, as you make your way through each room the crowd thins out. The tour takes you through a history of Heineken. You get to learn about everything from the Heineken family, to the shipping process, to the brewing process. It also becomes more interactive as you make your way through the tour. There are plenty of photo opportunities (including photo and video booths), games, a "ride", and a tasting. At the end of the tour you are treated to three beers (half pints, I think). You can use one of your beer tickets to join a perfect pour contest in the tasting room, which was one of the highlights of the visit for me. It's definitely touristy and a little pricey, but I like visiting breweries when I travel, so it was worth it. read more
Pretty cool experience when I was in Amsterdam with my sister and her boyfriend we stopped here to check out the brewery and warehouse. We had a set time to go in and it was so crowded but we finally made it into the building after about a 30 minute wait. When we got in we were in more lines as we got walked through the warehouse and a woman was on the loud speaker explaining what we were looking at, what types of jugs and kegs they used for the beer when the business first started, and what machines and tools they used at the time of the first days when the beer came out. Then we had to walk up a bunch of steps to the other parts of the experience where we had a chance to see how the hops and barley mix and make the different types of beer. There was also a part of the experience where you go into a closed off room and it shows you how the beers are on a conveyor belt and go through a line to get shipped out, then it ends with a small tasting in another room. Then you walk down to a bar area to get some more samples of the beer. At the bar area there was music playing and it was crowded with tons of tourists partying. Overall it was a pretty cool experience, and I'm glad I had a chance to go while on vacation. read more

The tour was a really a great experience. It's a self guide tour where they have a couple of stops where they tell you different things of how it's made. Very interactive experience, many things to look at and places for pictures. Ended the tour with two beers, can't get better then that. read more

If you're coming to Amsterdam for the first time, there's a 99% chance you'll want to get on over to the Heineken Experience. If you're looking to do the Heineken Experience AND some other touristy things on the same day, be sure to buy the Combo tickets for A'DAM LOOKOUT + Heineken Experience + Canal Cruise (30€). This way, you'll be able to combine your visit to the Heineken Experience with a Canal Cruise that takes you right to A'DAM LOOKOUT. This is the most efficient way to see the canals, drink some beers, and still get to the LOOKOUT without having to take a tram, bus, etc. A win-win-win in my book. Once you have your tickets (we purchased ours on the same day which wasn't a problem), the experience began. The tour is extensive and goes through the Heineken History, the brewing process, and what makes this beer so good (don't worry, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get a taste after the tour reaches its end). I won't go into too many details here as I want everyone to get a chance to experience this for themselves, but I will say that this is so much more than a basic tour. The experience is interactive, taking you through multiple floors and rooms, and family-friendly (for the most part). Tasting Opportunities: While learning the details of this beer's production, you'll be able to sample a taste of alcohol-free Heineken, which is kid-friendly. Then the group will also have a toast towards the end of the experience, which provides adults with their first 1/2 glass of beer. But fear not! After this, if you're in the mood to drink a little bit more (as I'm sure you will be), you can redeem your bracelet buttons for free beers in the *green* bar area (2 per person). This was one of the coolest "touristy" things we did in Amsterdam. Don't skip it! read more
Brewery tours are generally all the same, but not the Heineken Experience! The tour starts with a guided tour through the history of Heineken. They show some of the original brew kettles and bottles and tell some stories about how they got started. However after that things get real interesting. The experience has cool technology scattered throughout, including the use of 3D projection. In one part of the tour you take a virtual "ride" through the bottling process. Much of the tour is self guided and there are several fun photo opportunities so you are sure to leave with some fun mementoes. They also have an option to customize your own Heineken bottle. The tour ends at the Heineken bar where everyone gets 2 free beers before exiting through the gift shop where you are sure to find some fun souvenirs to take home. Whether you like Heineken beers or not, this tour is definitely worth the price of admission! read more

Heineken has never been my first choice but my family was visiting Amsterdam and had free time so we last minute booked tickets to go (you must book tickets ahead of time). This experience was so much fun! Your tour gets you 1 small beer in the middle of the tour and 2 beers at the bar at the end. This experience was very interactive and fun! You can even customize your own Heineken bottle with your name. Also we booked the extra rooftop experience and it was the best view and they were experimenting some drinks and I got to try the Heineken Spritz. In total we were here for about 2 hours. Would recommend everyone to go if you have a free couple hours in town! read more
Definitely one of the better museums you'll get and it even includes 2 complimentary glasses of Heineken and a keychain bottle opener/cheese shredder! The first time I visited Amsterdam I honestly skipped this attraction because I didn't think it was worth it for me to check out the brewery, but I was proven wrong when I finally decided to come here. I highly recommend purchasing tickets online prior to coming here since it's only $20 per person and you can also purchase a combo ticket for a canal boat ride for $30. If you buy tickets online, there is also a dedicated line that cuts the majority of the general admission line. Overall, I would say that this is the second best brewery tour in Western Europe. I love how immersive it is and how there are several different photo-ops in the museum. There are also several taste testing opportunities for you to get your drink on. (91/100 -- 2018) read more

Had a great experience here. Wasn't the biggest fan of Heineken in the US because it had a metallic taste (to me), drinking it out of a bottle. But the beer here, right out of the tap and obviously fresher, was very good and crisp. My wife even liked it and she is not a beer drinker. In terms of the tour itself, was very informative and interesting. Had different rooms where you could see their sponsorships of futbol and formula one, kettle brewing process, a virtual video of the bottling process, and an interactive sound/light area. At the end of the tour, you go to their bar where you get to enjoy two more glasses of beer. Overall, was a good time with lots of interaction. read more
So worth the time! However, I recommend buying tickets in advance and go at your allotted time (priority entry), otherwise it could be a long wait for tickets. It is a 2 hour tour (mostly self-guided) well spent. The are a several hosts in the area to give you a general overview of that particular area--the brief history, the brewing process, the making of the wort and the horse stables. There is a lot of information on the tour. The interactive area is fun--watching the travels of a bottle, photo booth, a simulation bike ride with Dutch karaoke--quite fun and there is also a gaming area. You get to sample the beer midway through the tour and at the end you are rewarded with 2 large glasses--12 oz. You redeem the drinks by giving your 2 tokens that are given to you at the beginning of the tour. The cost of €18 is worth it and if you purchase and combination canal cruise, an even better deal. You get the opportunity to "bottle your own Heineken" customize a bottle of beer for €6.50...what a great memory of your trip. read more

We learned that yeast is a living creature that eats sugars and pees alcohol. The flasking lights and loud museum added nothing to the event. The rooftop area was refreshing. read more
This place was pretty cool! Learned a lot about Heineken and enjoyed the tasting at the end as well! I got to taste Heineken silver which is the lighter version of their beer, I wish we had that in the States! The staff were friendly and energetic! We did the guided tour! I enjoyed the experience, but it definitely felt a little cramp at times and more for the "party goer". I'm guessing that's who the market is for Heineken, because it felt completely different than the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. I liked the history portion of the tour, and to also see the horses was pretty cool, but they have sort of like a virtual reality ride part where they make you stand in different rows/lines and it felt very Disneyland like to me. Use caution if you get headaches easily or motion sickness lol. As soon as you leave a lady was rushing to go over how to pour the beer correctly and makes you chug your beer in 30 seconds or less because the next group comes. This is great if you're with your friends, but if you go with some older family members be prepared. I saw many older people just leaving their beers behind because it felt so rushed! The marketing/sporting section is pretty cool. Many different photo booth opportunities, a virtual reality soccer game, foosball table, etc. The gift shop was standard but I did find some items that I didn't notice at the Guinness Storehouse (green collapsible/foldable Heineken sunglasses anyone?). The bar itself is pretty dark, loud music, no windows or views, many neon lights/etc. on the walls...felt like you were definitely at a club type scene...just a different set up than the Guinness Storehouse which is a lighted rooftop bar with city views. When you enter you get a bracelet with two little buttons you can give to the bartender and get 2 large beers! Plan accordingly! It's definitely an experience that you have to try at least once. The building itself felt very old school, you could feel the history as soon as you walked in. There is also a convenient parking structure right behind the Heineken Experience for those driving in. read more
Loved this tour! We did the VIP Heineken experience and really enjoyed ourselves. We learned the history of the company, tried a bunch of beers in the owner's personal bar, did some fun interactive stuff for pics, and then drank at the regular Heineken bar. Covid stuff - vaccine checks or proof of test were mandatory. Make sure you have your passport with you for your proof of vaccine. Masks were not required inside, however I chose to wear one most of the time. Plenty of hand sanitizer available. The snacks on the tour were individually plated and everyone was spaced out when sampling. Pre-COVID, the snacks were communal. I enjoyed learning the history of the company however, for most of the tour we were standing still for long periods of time which started hurting my back. Some stools would have def been nice! The social media experience section was so fun. We got to make videos and take pics for free! As many as we wanted. I loved sampling the beers and learning which different beers are owned by Heineken. I didn't know they owned Lagunitas IPA! After the tour we went down to their bar and had two drink tickets. I didn't love being at the bar, being still very COVID sensitive it was a little full on for me. So we stayed as far from the crowd as possible and I kept my mask on most of the time. It was just ok. It seemed like I was very rushed. I also felt like I was walking into a Heineken commercial more than a museum. I was expecting it to be much better. Kind of reminded me of the Coca-Cola museum I did in Atlanta. Too much advertisement. Seemed very commercial for my liking as a paying customer. I like the Guinness tour much better. Glad I went for the curiosity though. But this is something I would definitely not do again. read more
Definitely one of our top best experiences in Amsterdam. The tour was very well organized in which you are able to sample the beer throughout - not just at the end like some others. It should a lot of the history as well as a lot of the culture within the country. There are horses in the middle of the tour which i thought was interesting and you are also able to design your own bottle mid way through the tour. Which is extremely well thought about because once you are done with the tour your bottle is ready to go. No additional waiting time! The last portion of the tour give you 3 beer chips and guides you to a bar room where you are able to pour your first beer and then order the rest while listening to music and mingling with others. If we had additional time we would have gone twice! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

What an experience. Interactive exhibits with a walk through ride. Historical artifacts, post tour brews. Heineken has a Long history of alcohol production in Amsterdam . We got a tour and a boat ride to the island across the river. It was fun. We tried our hands at pouring a Heineken also. There's an art form behind the pour. It's a visit for sure if you're into Heineken - fun trip! read more

This place was absolutely amazing!! We knew the line was going to be long and as expected it was. We decided to ride bikes from our airbnb. We had a quick bite to eat across the street at the carousel restaurant. We liked how they showed all the steps in the process of making Heineken and all the steps that they've gone through to ensure a quality product get served. I believe the time we were there we got to see some horses we had two free drinks from the wristband that we got to redeem towards the end and there was a bunch of people partying in the Heineken experience room read more
When I knew I was coming to Amsterdam I knew that I needed to make a stop here. I think I was here for an hour and half in this museum-like setting. It was cool to hear the history of the company and to participate on the tour. At the end of the tour I got to drink a few glasses of Heineken and ended up buying a few items in the gift shop. Heineken? Meh. But I was in Amsterdam, the beer of the Netherlands, geez! Like all tourists, we decided to participate in the Heineken Experience, which actually was fun. Even though I'm not really a fan of Heinekens, it made you almost believe you could be. When we were planning for our tour, we saw online that they had a bunch of time slots still available the day before, so decided that it was okay to get it at the door. However, the next day after breakfast, we realized that the time slot we wanted was sold out and there were very few slots available that same day. Word to the wise - get your tickets ahead of time, if you are on a particular schedule! Glad we lucked out and checked still in the earlier part of the day to get entry the same day. After checking in you're granted a bracelet that tells people you can drink. Staff goes with you through the tour, telling you the creation, history and the different components of how Heineken beer is made. There is no audio guide here, unless you download an app, which allows you to tour the brewery in a different language other than English. After seeing the older parts of the brewery, you're then led into a horse barn where there are actual horses that the Heineken company used to use back in the day, for transportation of the booze. Now that they don't need the horses for that, they primarily are there to take care of them and use them as part of their marketing department. Whatever sells. As you enter every room, there's staff to tell you about the different rooms and answer questions you have. Then this is the part that gets interesting and unlike most breweries, the interactive part of the tour! Heineken Experience is really just that, an experience. You then enter different rooms with screens everywhere, loud audio and it's kind of one of those interactive rides that ride on without actually riding on, if that makes any sense. You have a few rooms where they want guests to start taking videos, pictures and play around with the different games here, like arcade games that are Heineken-themed. Towards the end of the tour you get your two drinks at the bar that comes with admission. Don't even think there's any variation of a Heineken. There's just the one and only Heineken to drink. Bar area got a little crowded with so many people hanging out, even though there weren't any chairs. The very last room before you leave is the gift shop, of course. There, you can pick up any customized beer bottles that you had the option of making in one of the interactive rooms, in addition to different Heineken-labeled items. Overall, it was a fun tour. It's definitely a tourist trap, but if you have the time, I say, It's worth visiting while in Amsterdam. Just remember to get your tickets early, to ensure a spot! read more
Not much of a Heineken drinker, but when in Amsterdam. Bought tickets online before arriving. It was 18€ which wasn't too bad. There were a bunch of time slots available and it is recommended to get your tickets early. Upon arriving, you go through the queue and someone scans your ticket. You then get a green bracelet with 2 plastic button things that is used as your drink tickets. Then you're herded in with a big group to walk through and learn about the history of Heineken. I found that it was rather cramped and hard to read all of the information--it was like a race to the beer. At times, feels like you're herded in like cattle. The workers/guides were enthusiastic and tried to make everyone excited for the beer. Throughout the tour, there's a bunch of interactive LED installations and a few photobooths. At the very end, you end up at the basement bar where they only serve one beer: the original Heineken. Don't believe there's any drinks you can buy if you want extra. It was crowded and the floors were sticky. The beer tasted better than the in store canned version from back home, but it should always be that way. There was a game going on, The Draught Challenge, that was fun to watch. The worker asked for volunteers, but didn't explicitly say that you needed a token/pin whatever in order to participate. At first, she let it slide (for the SO and others) then when I and others volunteered, she turned us away. Not a big deal, but you should disclose that important piece of information instead of having volunteers then deciding to accept or turn people away. read more

Mostly just a walk through museum. Obviously the beer at the end was good, but don't expect to actually see beer being made. A couple neat artifacts, and a short glimpse into the history of Heineken, but maybe not worth the entry fee. All the guides speak English, bring headphones if you don't want to hear the tour in English, you can listen through a website to other languages. read more
