First time coming here, wanted a place to check out since I was staying the night a while ago in the Cleveland area and I figured I could stop here and get my energy drinks that were on sale at a great price. This store is quieter and more empty compared to other hymens which make a great for a more peaceful shopping experience. Staff here are really personable and fun to be around wish me the shopping experience here very pleasing. The aisles are well stocked and it was easy to find what I was looking for. The store is much larger than any other hinden's I've actually been to so far but overall I was very pleased with my visit here and I would happily come back here again the next time I come back to the Cleveland area. read more

I've never seen one of these stores in the South, so I had no idea what to expect. I must say, I Love it! The prices are comprable to do grocery stores like Fresh Market and Whole Foods. They have an extensive Deli selection with lots of fresh meat oh, bread, cheese, and salads. Particularly useful was the coffee kiosk where you can get a fresh cup of coffee as you shop. The store is extremely clean with wide aisles. I will say that the bakery offerings were minimal but that's probably best for me since I love sweets. Much of their produce and other products are locally sourced, so not being from Ohio I was able to find a lot of new foods to try. read more

This is my second time going into this store, I am new to the neighborhood looking for a great place to shop, well, this isn't going to be the place. Very rude staff. The meat( man didn't catch his name) but he walks with a limp was very sarcastic and dismissive, it was kind of giving racist. Then I get to the cashier, her name was Tiffany. No greeting of any kind, not even eye contact. Very aggressive with my groceries by throwing them around on the belt, then when she gives me my receipt I have my hand out and she set the receipt on the counter, which was very very rude and giving racist as well. My regular grocer. A well presented store with a sensible layout with wide aisles. Contrast with the aircraft hangar approach that Giant Eagle has the tendency to build. The place is not so giant that you have to decide whether you have enough time to go back to dairy to get the milk you forgot. All cashiers are friendly and competent. When you see an employee in the store you can feel comfortable asking them a question. Deer in the headlights look will almost always get you a "Can I help you find something?" Nice. Meats, fish, deli, bakery, and salad bar are all good. They have plenty of beer and wine choices and often that general area has dedicated staff. Craft beer fans will find a great selection. Pricing is the one issue for many folks. Loss leaders aside, their prices may be higher than a store like Marc's on some items. For my general shopping needs, the prices tend to be on par with competitors. Get in and get out fast with a nice experience, and they'll load your groceries into your car. Lets start with the good: This is one of the cleanest grocery stores I have ever been to. And the aisles are wide. Very wide. The staff was polite and helpful. If you can't manage to carry all of your groceries to your car at once, they take your cart and give you a number. You pull up and they put your bags into the car for you. Al positive things. The not positive is the prices, gah. If you are wanting to save buck or two then keep on going. Having said that, if you are in search of beer or wine, they have an incredible selection. The people are always very friendly and helpful. Case in point - Today I was making a purchase and asked the cashier if I could drop off some cardboard boxes to be recycled. Heinen's is one of the two grocery stores in Strongsville, and the location of Giant Eagle is just dumb. I go here mostly by default or just to pick up something in particular, such as soup or the prepared foods. There's a creamy tomato bisque soup that is amazing and I think I'd try all of the prepared foods at some point or another. They have a couple of curry dishes and a ton of sides and prepared meat such as blue cheese burgers or breaded chicken. It's perfect for a home cooked meal that you didn't cook yourself. (Oh, and there's usually a couple of samples of dips and such. Yum.) Most of those fun ingredients in vegetarian recipes or things you'd read about in Health magazine you can find here. I don't have another market (i.e. Whole Foods) of that sort near me to compare it to though. And if you go early in the day, the sushi is fresh and pretty reasonably priced. I like it because most of them are a mixture of three different rolls so you can get yourself some variety if you're grabbing lunch solo. It's a very nice layout with lovely hard wood floors and nice displays on the endcaps in the front of the store. Beautiful wine department, ALWAYS fast checkout and in general a pleasant shopping experience. Four stars cause you're gonna pay more here than at the Eagle, but not want to shoot yourself leaving the parking lot. read more

I love Heinen's and I love the Strongsville Heinen's. Although I must admit I like Brecksville more. The good: large store, wide aisles; quiet; health food section Is comprehensive and often staffed by certified nutritions; great produce (they will let you pre-taste anything); helpful staff; loading groceries in the trunk is the BEST (I've never had to pack my own purchases either). Don't come here to save money, but for a great shopper experience. The last time I went to Giant Eagle, I froze to death, and ended up bagging my own groceries. Weaknesses: both the floral and bakery departments could use some updating, they're boring and predictable; there are staff members I see 3 times a week for the past 5 years, who still don't recognize or acknowledge me (particularly in produce where they seem over worked). read more

I hate to write this because I have really enjoyed shopping at Heinen's for years but they have really not taken this pandemic seriously. For example: they often have customers that don't wear masks. I Love this Heinen's. I love the size of the store, which is bigger than many of the heinens locations but still small enough as to not overwhelm. Heinen's staff is always incredibly helpful and good for recommendations in all departments. I found myself purchasing a variety of items not on my list "just because" they seemed so appealing in the store atmosphere. Mason Dixie frozen biscuits were on sale so I grabbed a package to try. If you like eggnog, then you have to buy the Hartzler dairy brand which is only available through New Year's Day. The produce at Heinen's is the best of any grocery store produce in town. The XL salad bar selection was good. I liked that the salad bar was 2 sides with more creative salad choices as self serve. The cheese selection was great and I ended up buying a hatch Chile cheese they had out for sampling. They had wine tasting going in but I passed based All in all a great Experience. read more

I have been coming to a Strongsville heinens for over five years now and I have always been greeted by very kind and helpful staff until today! I along with many others I waited very long in line with only two cashiers and the cashier in my line was obviously new. Finally, they decided to open registers all the way on the other end, and took all the other customers before me. I have been waiting at least 15 possibly 20 minutes. This was aggravating to begin with. Then I finally get to the cashier who once again was having trouble with his scanner (4th customer), I felt really bad for him as none of the customer service people were bagging for him or watching out for him but they were helping the cashiers that just opened. He finally called and a very rude and disrespectful person named Kelton came to finally help. He could see that I was annoyed and started asking very antagonistic questions. When I replied, he became even more argumentative. I was appalled. Such a disgrace to a store I once valued. I did shop there weekly if not more often but now, I will not return until he is removed. I wouldn't be surprised if he has been rude and disrespectful to others. I will share this occurrence with all my friends and associates. read more

First of all, the staff at this location are amazing which prompted me to write my review. I recently had a baby an throughout my pregnancy and during my first shopping trip out with him, the staff went out of their way to help me and it was so appreciated. In the checkout line, one of the cashiers was so kind and helped me unload my groceries. This isn't the first time as when I was 8-9 months pregnant, someone always went out of their way to help me with my shopping trip. Whether I'm visibly in need or not, the staff always seems happy, says 'hi', and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Unfortunately this is SO RARE to have happen when out and about in general. I visit other grocery stores/shopping centers in the area and Heinens stands out by far. In addition to excellent customer service, their produce and prepared food is always fresh and great quality. I feel that people have this perception that Heinens is more expensive than other stores in the area and I do not find this to be true when I compare my bill to the rest; especially when considering the quality. I like shopping this Heinen's because they are larger than the Heinen's closer to my house. My favorite time to shop is Sunday mornings early, prior to church and prior to the weekend shopper crowds. I always get in & out quickly and I love that. This Heinen's is nicely spaced out with wide aisles and plenty of room to maneuver shopping carts and people. The store is brightly lit and enjoy shopping here much more over the new Giant Eagle Market store down the road. I find the employees are easier to locate if I need help and the products are good here too. The salad bar is always tidy and freshly stocked when I'm shopping and I appreciate that too. I was traveling to a friends house for the weekend were I wondered on to a Jarelsburg cheese spread that was to die for!! She told me that Heinen's made it and I would love their store. Since my boyfriend was super cool about me having a girls weekend, I decided to stop by and grab some food to take home for a date night. Yes, the food selection was fresh and amazing! The Black Truffle Salami and Duck Salami were great, all the cheese spreads they made in house were awesome as well. The grilled shrimp we ate as cocktail shrimp and they didn't need sauce. They had extensive side dishes and I chose Broccolini w Fried Garlic, Spinach Mac n Cheese and Parmesan scalloped Potatos...all were incredible! The lamb and sea bass were super fresh and delicious with just salt and pepper as well. Top that off with the fact my boyfriends favorite bottle of wine is a pretty rare Spanish blend that he can never find called Clio and they actually had it!! You think that would be enough great things to say but I'm not even to the best part! 20 feet into the store a lady asked if she could help me, after explaining I was taking the food for a 2 hour car ride to Pittsburgh she showed me to cooler bags that were just 2 for $5. I told her I was there for the cheese spread and she lead me to it and introduced me to the cheese lady who made it. She explained the background of the family owned stores with locations in Chicago and Cleveland. I came to find that it was her second job and she loved it so much she was going to continue working there after she retired. The gentleman at the prepared food department allowed me to taste the salami and suggested the shrimp with a complimentary taste as well. The lady who greeted me saw me later at the seafood counter getting Sea Bass and instructed the young lady helping me to give me a couple bags of ice for my long trip to keep all my food cold. INCREDIBLY FRIENDLY SERVICE FROM ALL 7 of 7 PEOPLE I DEALT WITH!! I will throw out this disclaimer, nothing was cheap. I wouldn't say not over priced either, especially now that I know the quality. I highly suggest this place, my boyfriend and I are going to plan a date day there once every few months now! Your one stop shop for everything you need. I picked up some Chilean sea bass today after a horrible experience at Market District. I must say it was phenomenal. I'm doing the bachelor thing tonight bc wifey is out of town so I got the sea bass, shishito peppers, and a twice baked potato from the prepared foods counter. Heinens...you hit the spot. This is the first grocer I have seen to offer an extensive selection of grass fed AND organic meats, poultry, and sea food. This alone is enough to bring me back. Your customer service people, one woman in particular, are very rude. I had a problem with an Instacart order yesterday and she just kept telling me "you need to contact Instacart". I DID do that and they said that the store was not able to fulfill the order due to employees not showing up because of the virus situation. I understand that and that's all she had to tell me when I asked. I called this morning, because Instacart was going to resubmit my order for pick up today, to make sure there were "shoppers" there to pick the order and she very rudely said "You need to contact instacart". I said I just needed to know if there were people there to do it since there obviously were not yesterday and she said "they're here now but I don't know for how long". The thing that stands out the most about Heinen's on Royalton Rd is the people. They are ALWAYS helpful. People seem genuinely to care about your needs and not like they're just doing it because the boss is watching. They have a nice selection of pre-prepared foods, hot soups, and a salad bar that I have frequented many a time. Their produce is the best of any local grocery. They also have a sizeable selection of wine and beers you don't normally find in stores that don't specialize in alcohol sales. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because, due to its small size, there are certain things that you would assume they'd have but don't, like tweezers. (They may have them now, but did not when I needed them). If I could give them 4.5 stars, I would, but Yelp does not allow this. The food and grocery selection was great (I'd say Avon location is better on selection, but Avon is bigger too). My problems with this location is the cart situation and this one boy who handles the cart situation. Apparently they don't let you bring your cart out to your car. You get a number and either bring your car up for someone to load, or you take your groceries to your car (Avon never did this before; so this was new to me). Now this was an inconvenience since I had 3 kids and two carts. The thing that made this extra frustrating is that they boy handling the carts was very rude. He was giving me an attitude, and told me that I can't "just stand there in the way" with a snarky tone. If you want service and quality, Heinens is the place to go. They even load your groceries in your car for you, you won't find that at the other supermarkets. I like the selection of the local, and organic products. Produce is unmatched, best quality and taste that I have found. If you don't feel like cooking, the prepared foods are very good.
