The food is overpriced and the lanes constantly malfunction. I have been coming here for several…read moremonths and every time we come something goes wrong with the lanes. Today we were having issues with Lane 23 because every time we put the ball down the lane, the arm would knock all of the pins down and say everyone got a strike. Then they move this to lane 22 and even though the lane seems to be working properly, it keeps doubling my score. For example, I got a spare on my first turn and it said I scored 20. On the next turn I got a strike and it said I have 40. Yet on my third turn, I got a spare and it says I have 50. I asked an employee about it and he said "that's normal in bowling" my two daughters frames are working perfectly fine. It's still a good place to bring the kids but not if you want to have a real bowling experience.

Last year (for 2014 season) Aaron decided he was going to expand beyond a couple of teams and created the Tacoma Tugs program just as the program we'd been with in Puyallup was blowing up. We played against Aaron's teams as he was starting his organization and saw the growth that his boys had over a few years. I contacted them about options for my son towards the end of 2013 and because of financial issues our club was having with getting various teams tournaments paid for Janna actually offered to cover some fees for teams looking to leave the other org. This is before any commitments about playing were even made. Who does that for another organization's teams? The Trolia's do. Because they care about the kids. People run club programs to make a living but there are also those out there who do it for the kids first and foremost knowing that the making a living part will take care of itself. The Trolia's are the type of people who try to help everyone and have a spot and team level for any kid who wants to play and get better at the sport regardless of their current ability. The long term goal they have for their players is team and individual improvement. Winning becomes more important as you move up the team levels but it's not everything. His coaches share the same values that Aaron has and that was important to us when we decided to come and play for NPA. All club sports orgs will have people mad that their kid didn't get star treatment and will slam clubs integrity because of it but you really need to get past the angry few and look at their facilities and coaches. See who is associated with them on their website. Go watch a game the year before you make the switch and see if that is they type of organization you want your kids to be involved in for hours and hours each week and basically all summer long. We did just that and haven't looked anywhere else since. I just hope the Trolia's are around for years to come for the kids in this area.

Take a look at the "Tigers" organization record and AT baseball "vision" to see for yourself. This is not competitive baseball, this is a rec league that you could pay a $100 for. Glad we didn't have to pay, but everyone else is getting ripped off! His trainers also did not work on pitching at ALL during the season until the very last month, leaving our team struggling pitching wise (heard of others as well). The trainers that he hires, are great with the kids, which is why I'm OK with giving it ONE star, other than that, his program for "select" teams suck. Go somewhere else. Every time it's removed, I will add more information, including pictures of what Aaron said himself was his "vision" to prove my above statement. Edited to add: Owner is now threatening lawsuit. I have played on the four indoor courts extensively, including a lot of league play, and have always found them adequate. They were resurfaced not too long ago. Playing on the six outdoor courts in good weather is really nice, though as a previous poster noted, they are typically dry only four or five months a year. For anyone who values the social aspect of tennis, LRC is a good bet, too. The management and members are friendly folks. I'll always have a warm place in my heart for this club, and would have given five stars but for not wishing to appear as a homey booster.

But who's joining a tennis club in Seattle/Tacoma where it rains 8 months out of the year for the outdoor courts? I'm judging this place based on their indoor courts which needs work. The lighting could be nicer on all 4 indoor courts. They have 2 courts in one area of the club, then 2 in another. The first 2 courts are awful, there are big ceiling poles in the middle, and a wall to the left side that you can easily run into. I've had Lakewood team tennis players tell me it's their strategy to hit short angles so players collide into that wall. When you run back for lobs, there's basically no padding behind the tarp. So you collide right into a wall. Once, I was running back for a lob and someone had the steel door open because they were watching a match through it (I don't get why this person thought this was a good idea). So, I run into the tarp and right into the door (I didn't know it was open), right into them, and had the door been open a bit more, it would have probably knocked me out. They have a pool here. But it's not a real lap pool where you can swim. It's what I call a "drunk pool." Meaning it's more one of those pools people in Southern Cali will have in their backyard, where on late summer nights when you've had a lil' too much hard alcohol and for some reason you feel like jumping into water naked - it's that type of sized pool. If this club near was in the Bellevue or Seattle area, or more North, it wouldn't survive. I think it has a large membership base because there aren't many options in the Tacoma area for tennis. Tacoma Lawn isn't worth the money at all (indoor courts are pretty weak), Sprinker is nice but always packed, so Lakewood survives as an alternative.

After KC Crusaders, this is my favorite field, thus far. They have reasonable prices, and the staff…read moretakes safety and fun seriously. There have been a few snags with reservations before, but the staff was always courteous and helpful to resolve it. Okay, lets talk about the fields. These are AMAZING fields. They have several that they rotate you through, throughout the day. It doesn't matter if you are a private group or a walk-on group. You play at all the fields. You VW nuts out there in cyberland will appreciate the fact that their Urban field has a late 70's model Rabbit as a bunker. It nearly brought a tear to my eye to have to shoot it to tag someone out. I digress. Hamburger Hill was an amazing field to try and fight up. The Urban field had lots of junk and two-story buildings to snipe from. The Speedball field was pretty standard. The Bridge field, was so amazingly wooded that I was able to sneak behind the whole enemy team. The Jungle field is where I start to complain. When I play paintball in Western Washington, I might expect to see the occasional stinging nettle and bee. I do NOT, however, expect to see whole groves of stinging nettles and multiple large bee's nests. The field may have rectified this, but if they haven't, avoid the Jungle field. The only other complaint I have about Operation Paintball is how frequently you change fields. I have a lot of gear, as do several people I play with. We don't like like to lug it from field to field, every two games. While I applaud the effort to allow people to play on all fields, I'd like to stick around on one for more than two games. By the way, as I read the other reviews, I need to ask, "You people arrange Yelp games?!" I might have to include people on here for my next private group... So, quick summary: This is a great venue with many amazing fields and one that I'm scared of (You just can't shoot bees. They are known for swarming.) The prices are reasonable, and you get a variety of playing experiences with refs that actually do their jobs. You just change fields, a lot. The only place I like more is KC Crusaders, and not by much.
