Dr.Worrell is a popular doctor she was booked up until November. I was grateful to be squeezed in after having to reschedule my appointment this month. I scheduled an appointment based off of a recommendation from a friend. I wish I could have stayed for my appointment. I was checked in at 2:15 pm brought into the patient room at 2:40 pm or so. It was 3:04 pm when I got dressed ( to leave to make another appointment). The doctor came in 2 minutes or so later. I wish I was made aware of the wait so that I could make arrangements to stay. read more

It's pretty appalling how incompetent the admin staff are. I had requested my medical records to be transferred and after two months of no movement, they let me know the day I called to check on it again that it was mailed that day. Lo and behold, after going to my new office, the records have not been transferred. Wait times are usually 1-1.5 hrs from scheduled appointment time, which is unacceptable and no one should have to be okay with this. Dr. Worrell is otherwise very knowledgable and is willing to take the time to explain things at a level that is easy to understand. In spite of this, I had a bad experience with a procedure, where something affected me badly on the table and while I was clearly in distress, the doctor just left the room immediately after the procedure was done and didn't check back. Dr. Worrell was my gynecologist for 10 years. She had great bedside manner, made pap smears as painless as possible and always took time to answer questions in a non-judgmental manner. The staff was horrible (except for one nurse, Paula), but I was willing to overlook that. When I got pregnant, I naturally stayed with her as my OB. Unfortunately, I had a complication and Dr. Worrell was not there for me. She showed up at the hospital (which by the way is a complete and utter dump) more than 12 HOURS after I did, left me in the hands of incompetent student physicians and basically missed a diagnosis that could have killed me and my baby. I ended up having an emergency c-section 16 hours after admission (and labor), when I should have had one immediately. What's worse, after the procedure, Dr. Worrell NEVER stopped by to see how my wound looked or to ask how my baby was doing in the ICU. However, her rude and condescending partner did show up for 5 minutes at 6 am one morning wearing a bright orange golf shirt - I guess I was a pit stop on his way to tee off. Thank God both me and my baby are totally fine - but, I am convinced that this is a miracle and in no way related to the horrid care I was given. I have been seeing Dr Worrell for a while now and she is exceptional as a doctor. Kind, empathetic and intelligent. Another positive to note is she explains things in ways patients can understand. I would also say the same review for Dr. Khalil as well. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a gentle exam and amazing bedside manner. read more

This is an old review I posted before I found Dr. Worrell had her own page (not sure why I didn't think of creating one myself...), but here it is! I got there 5 minutes before my appointment and was in the exam room 30 minutes past my appointment time. You are asked to pee in a cup while you wait and leave your cup in the bathroom along with everybody else's, so that's a new twist on an old favorite. Overall, the reception area is neat and spacious. There are 3 receptionists and there is no real privacy there, so expect to be asked private questions in front of other people. The receptionists are somewhat friendly but they were arguing about something between themselves pretty loudly which wasn't the most appropriate but not the worse I've seen. But all of that doesn't matter because Dr. Worrell is a gift to the gynecology world. She made me feel at ease about a major concern I had, consulted me, explained things, gave her personal opinion prefacing that it's her opinion, didn't rush, was pleasant, personable, and very reassuring. All the qualities you want in a doctor who gets to see your private parts. In short, awesome Doctor. I waited for the appointment for 5 weeks but it was worth it. read more

Dr. Worrell is very informative, ensuring that if you're confused about anything whatsoever she will have it covered by the time you leave the office. She also very nurturing. I've been seeing Dr. Worrell since I was 23, and now I'm 29 and having my first child with her. She's seen me through the hard times, the break ups and make ups ("you may have been abstinent, but has he?" was a direct quote from her, circa 2007) and now is welcoming my baby into the world. She's funny, endearing, and comforting; all pluses you need when you're looking for a quality OB/GYN. Yes, there is a long wait to see her. Yes, you should schedule appointments a month in advance. she has AMAZING bedside manner. and for an OBGYN this is a HUGEEEE factor for me. i tend to ask more questions than the average person and dr worrell LOVES to answer questions. she offers up worlds of information without asking too, which is extremely helpful bc you generally don't know all the questions you even need to ask. she spends as much time with you as you want and you never get the feeling she's waiting to sprint out the door as soon as possible to get to her next appt. i felt like i was her only patient for the day. she's kind, she takes her time, she describes what she's doing, the purpose of things, etc etc. all in all, she's amazing!!! i should add, the office staff isn't the friendliest or most helpful (you really have to push and prod to get stuff done with them and be extremely patient, although there is one who seems nice if you're nice with her), and like most places, regardless of your appt time, they get to you when they get to you (usually 15 min has been my wait time), but i'd still say it's worth it for dr worrell. seriously. i would recommend her to every girl friend of mine in the city! and the nurses who see you before the dr does have all been super nice and amazing too! ps - she works alongside beth israel hospital too. read more

No. Just no. Overall Dr. Worrell is a decent OBGYN, she hears out your concerns and doesn't make you feel rushed. However, I felt she purposefully misled me and there is absolutely no excuse for that. It was my first pregnancy and after a bit of research and the fact that Beth Israel Hospital was within walking distance from our apartment, I chose Dr. Worrell as my OB. She addresses all your concerns, although there were a few times I felt I had to remind her of things she should have realized for my care. For example, I am Rh negative and had to get a special injection and brought this up with her at which point she made arrangements for me to get it. What if I hadn't known this? I'm not quite sure it would have been done in a timely fashion and addressed appropriately. Her office is not efficient at all. I always waited a minimum of 15-20 minutes every time I came in, and at times waited for more than 45-60 minutes, which is absolutely ridiculous. What is also ridiculous is that, since I work nearby, I called their office asking if they are running behind schedule and if so, that I would come in later on so I didn't have to wait in the office for long periods. They told me that if I was later than 15 minutes, my appointment would be cancelled. What? So you just want me to show up at your office while you run an hour behind schedule and just sit there instead of coming at a time when I wouldn't have to wait? That makes no sense. Also, calling their office is a nightmare, getting put on hold and constantly redirected. The most egregious issue, however, is that I asked Dr. Worrell in detail many, many times how my labor and delivery would happen, who would be involved, etc. She informed me that either her or two of her other colleagues would be present depending who was on call. What she never mentioned was that Beth Israel is a teaching hospital and that residents would be manning my entire labor and that the doctor would only show up for the last 15 minutes. I won't go into my terrible experience with the residents and hospital staff and their horrible communication with each other, low level of expertise, multiple avoidable issues, etc, but HOW DO YOU NOT MENTION THIS?? At this particular hospital you also don't have the ability to turn down care from residents BECAUSE THE ATTENDING IS NOT ON THE FLOOR. I had never been in or heard of a situation where this was the case. And you know what, fine, if that's the way they run their hospital; what's NOT fine is that Dr. Worrell should have told me all of this instead of conveniently leaving all this information out despite my questions and concerns and my asking her point blank exactly how my delivery would ensue and who would be involved. I would have certainly chosen a different practice and hospital for my pregnancy and delivery. I think she knew that and purposefully didn't disclose this information. Naturally, after a terrible experience, I never wanted to see her face again, but I did have to go to my postpartum appointment. I was upset and confronted her about all of the above and she quite literally had no answer for me, just that "most hospitals in the area are teaching hospitals." So?! Why didn't you TELL me that when I asked? Why did you mislead me? And she had nothing to say at all. That is a massive red flag in my eyes. read more

I absolutely swear by Dr. Worrell and even look forward to my annual check up! She is friendly, informative and makes her patients very comfortable. She works quickly and carefully, and you rarely feel a thing during your annual exam. It pains me to write this because Dr. Worrell is a wonderful doctor. She was my gyn for numerous years in Murray Hill and even when she first moved to Stuyvesant. She is thorough, friendly, explains things and direct. However, her office staff is "0 Stars" and beyond terrible. 1/ If you call for any reason - waiting time is at least 10 minutes. 2/ Nurses are abrupt - they would call saying I needed a procedure but not explain why and schedule it 3 weeks or more out. 3/ Office wait times - 30 minutes late unless you have a 9 am. For those reasons, when I became pregnant I switched offices. I wasn't going to put my life & my baby's life in jeopardy for an incompetent staff. My new obgyn office is 500% more efficient. Finally! A lady doc that speaks to you like you are real human being. After my original doctor retired a few years ago, I've been through the mill with a string of docs who were extremely clinical and did not seem too concerned with my well-being. At Dr. Worrell's office, you are not just another patient, which is so rare these days. Also, the pap was the most painless one I've ever had. She is now operating solo in her office, so getting an appointment was actually VERY quick (I got an appointment same week, which is so rare). The staff was also very friendly and helpful. I LOVE HER!!!!! I don't even know what else to say. Dr. Worrell been my gyn for over 10 years and then my ob for my first pregnancy. Her calm and soothing spirit and voice calmed me many a time during my pregnancy. I just had my baby july 3 and the one to perform the caesarian was Dr. Worrell...I couldn't have asked for anything more. I recommend her to anyone. Dr. Worrell is phenomenal and because she currently does not take my insurance I haven't been happy with another GYN since. It's true Beth Isreal is a dump, and the office staff, I must admit, are mostly incompetent. But I am going to write this review solely for Dr. Worrell. She has the best memory, reads the chart before coming in so she's not ignoring you for the first 5 mins like most doctors do. She stops, looks at you and asks you how are you doing, asks what are your concerns and if this is a follow up asks specifically for the status. When results are in she explains everything bit by bit. She also checks if you're listening by asking you questions. And often reminds my to write down my own questions so that I don't forget. Without me saying anything too personal, she understood my insecurities and coached me through 2 healthy pregnancies, the second one during a very trying time. Yes, she does rotate with 3 other providers but lord she is a human has a million patients. If she had her own practice she would have fewer patients thereby would commit to "being there" for everyone's delivery. (I'm defending her here, I know, moving on!) First delivery- 07'- I was called by Dr. Levitan (because I was initially his patient) and he literally yelled "the baby needs to be induced or he will defecate in you". I was mortified and rushed in only to be induced for 24 hours but luckily his shift was over and Dr. Worrell came in and suddenly I willed my son to come into the world the very moment she entered the room. (And the baby had not defecated in me. Although it happens often with late munchkins) Dr. Worrell is strong, and a leader. She made me feel strong and seemed to know exactly what I was thinking and when I needed the encouragement. Not only did she manage me but also my husband, my mom and the nurse and other staff in the delivery room. Second delivery- I was stressed out and exhausted during the entire pregnancy. Since I was a more experienced mom I explained to her that I didn't want too much interference i.e. no IV, no inducing unless absolutely necessary. Because of hospital policies she could not guarantee that but she told me the way to avoid all of it is to come in when I am truly in labor. Although Dr. Worrell had scheduled her vacation for after my due date, baby #2 was late as well. She said I will be back in a week and, once again, on the day she returned I was ready to deliver! I literally waited until I was fully labor to get to the hospital. I called Dr. Worrell at 2am she was there 10 mins after I arrived and my daughter was delivered 15 mins after that. No IV, no meds..just the amazing coach Dr. Worrell. She is so very knowledgeable and could give you sources to this info. She provides you with the tools to find what is best for you. I enjoyed my pregnancy visits because she is truly a primary care doctor always who kept my health and the health of my babies top priorities. So if you are lucky enough to have the insurance her office accepts then go through the front desk BS and long wait times (bring a book and a sweater), it's worth it. i booked a very last minute appointment with dr. worrell today; was very surprised they could take me on such short notice. i've seen her before and didn't have an issue to begin with; she's very sweet and makes you feel very relaxed. i got there and waited over an hour to be brought back, and then another 45-50 minutes in the actual exam room. this alone was enough to make me never want to come back here, but the story is juuuuuust getting started. once dr. worrell came in, i started to address my concerns - i have been bleeding for over a month at this point with no end in sight, coupled with the worst cramps you could ever imagine. before she started the exam i went to the bathroom to remove the 50,000th tampon i've used in the past month, and two GIGANTIC blood clots fell out of me. mentioned this to her as well, and she COMPLETELY glazed over all my concerns and insisted i get an IUD. it seemed like she cared more about me giving my money to the pharmaceutical industry rather than my actual health. the best part of all of this: when the examination was finished and after the nurse rammed a needle into my hand to get a blood sample (she had just finished complaining to me about how she wanted to leave before 5 pm, even though it wasn't my fault i wasn't seen until 4:30 when my appointment was at 2:45, but ok sure), i asked dr. worrell (again) why this was happening to me. her exact response? "i really don't know." because that's EXACTLY what you want to hear from a doctor. read more

I was recommended to Dr. Worrell and saw positive comments about her and her staff. I was excited to visit as a new patient. I scheduled my appointment 3 weeks in advance. When I went to her office today, the staff took down my information. I waited about an hour and half before being seen by the nurse, which I thought wasn't so bad (I've had much longer waits). The nurse proceeded to take my blood pressure, weight, and take note of any medical history. She then left the room to get Dr. Worrell. After a few minutes, the nurse tells me that the doctor cannot see me because they do not have my previous medical records. Within the 3 weeks and 1.5 hour wait, the staff could not tell me that they needed the medical records from the other doctor? I asked the nurse if I can still talk to the doctor, ask her some questions about how I want to go about my pregnancy to see if I'll be comfortable with having this doctor during the birthing experience. Based on my research, it's good to interview your doctors to see if they are the right fit for the type of birthing you'd like, thus I expressed my concerns. The nurse left the room and when returned, she told me Dr. Worrell refuses to see me unless I have my records. I was livid at this point. Dr. Worrell did not provide any attention to answer any of my questions or even provide any type of consultation. Now I'm 5 months pregnant, wouldn't you think that there are some sort of assessment she can do without getting my medical records? Not only did the staff neglect to inform me that I had to provide medical records, but the Dr. Worrell refused to even see me for any general questions I had. I'm unfortunate to not have the experience other patients had with Dr. Worrell, but based on the impression she had given me, I won't give her a second shot. read more

I had been a patient of Dr. Worrell for almost 11 years. Recently I had to switch my insurance and Dr. Worrell does not accept it. When I realized I literally cried. Dr. Worrell is one of those doctors that are true gems! I recently had the experience of going to another doctor and truly saw how good I had it. Dr. Worrell is not only an OBGYN but she is generally knowledgeable about overall health. She never rushes you and listens to all your questions. During my pregnancy the whole office was so helpful and truly cared about me. While there is always a wait (get the first appt!!) and sometimes the staff can be swamped Dr. Worrell is worth it. Come October we will be switching our insurance for the sole purpose of me being able to be a patient again!! read more

I went to Dr. Worrell for a simple annual exam. Like everyone here says, she has a fantastic bedside manner and the typically unpleasant part of the exam was over before I even knew it. I'm not a breeder, so I'm not really concerned about whether she will be an attentive obstetrician during childbirth, all I need is someone I feel comfortable dealing with for my lady issues and so far I am really happy to have found her. read more

AS a healthcare provider myself, I can give an objective opinion : this doctor has good bedside manners, and that what makes up the experience. Her staff is the worst staff I've ever seen, they are , i'm sorry to say that, "stupid" and belong in school rather than in a health care setting, where they can learn how to obtain prior authorizations, make appointments and do their job. I am amazed at how poorly trained they are and this doctor makes herself look bad by having such staff. I would not recommend that office, purely based on staff (and staff is very important when you have issues where a doctor cannot help). Dr Worrell herself is lovely. With that said, if you are looking for an office to call you back, to answer URGENT messages, to refill prescriptions I would not recommend this place. If you ARE looking for a 40 minute minimum wait time on the phone with the call center, or OVER an hour wait once you actually get into the office, by all means, go to this practice. I've been going to Dr Worrell for 8 years and I'm now looking for a new doctor. I'd always thought the staff was not great--very dismissive, no real human touch etc. However, Dr Worrell herself was always pleasant and nice once I actually got to see her (the waits were always long). Unfortunately, last year I had an unexpected and unpleasant medical issue which was not handled well by the staff or Dr Worrell herself. The staff, per the usual didn't seem to give a damn about my situation. Dr Worrell (once I got in to see her) was pretty flip about the whole thing and left the room very quickly. I expected more and it actually really hurt my feelings to be treated in this way by a doctor who I thought was a better person. read more

The scheduling and wait time is abysmal. I made the appointment weeks in advance. I even got a confirmation text message the day before. But when I showed up, the doctor was not there, and I was told to just wait in the room. It has been more than 1.5hrs of wait. For someone who made appointments weeks in advance to have to wait for 1.5hrs is unacceptable. Having a schedule c-section with Dr. Worrell was like a day at the spa. I found out only a few weeks before that my doctor couldn't do my delivery. I met a couple of Dr's and liked Dr. Worrell but really didn't know what to expect. On the day of the c-section, she came and met with me before and was very warm and reassuring. In the operating room, with her in command, I felt completel trust. Everyone there was calming and attentive to my needs. The procedure couldn't have gone better and she checked up on me after. I had seen Dr Levitan for many years for GYN, but she was on call when I had my first child, and was so AMAZING in the hospital and for follow up visits that I stayed with her for child #2 and afterwards. She has a great bedside manner and makes it easy to openly discuss personal and awkward things in an open and totally nonjudgemental manner. I have moved away from NYC, but still go back to her office as she is just that good. Since the split with Dr Levitan, the office is much less chaotic and I really like the staff that is there. Dr. Worrell had a practice with Dr. Levitan, and when I looked for an OBGYN they told me that one of them would DEFINITELY be there when I had my baby. When I was 9 months pregnant, Dr. Worrell told me Dr. Levitan had left (they gave no indication of this whatsoever, he went to Lenox Hill, while Dr. WOrrell stayed with Beth Israel, but before she told me she was trying to get them into LEnox). She then told me she may or may not be there during birth of my child, and said she had asked 4 others to cover for her. 4 others! so I was told if I want to be comfortable with them, I would have to go to each of their offices to meet with each of them. In my 9th month! I asked can it be between you and one other person, likie it was with Levitan. She basically said no, and I udnerstand "this may upset you", but there is nothing I can do. BS, of course there is, how about trying to see all your patients in their 9th month, or have only one other person cover for you only for your patients in their 9th month, so you dont force a pregnant lady in her 9th month to trek all over the city in the last 2 weeks making appointments with 4 other doctors. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. I instead went with Dr. Levitan, who promised to be there for ALL his patients during this split, and came in during Sandy to deliver my baby. Thank god I didn't stay with her, I found her and her staff to be rude and unprofessional. She didnt return my call for two days when I complained about this, and when I explained my anxienty and nervousness, she basically in an unpleasant tone told me, yeah it sucks, but thats the way it is, and I have to deal with it. In all fairness i have no idea whether the doctor is any good as i never had a chance to see her. I was told to come earlier by 15 min as otherwise my booking would be cancelled. As these are my office hours too i excused myself from work to be able to be in the doctor's office on time. After more than one hour wait i asked if the doctor would see me at all that day. The assistant said that she had no idea and that it is not her fault that doctor has other patients and is not available. No excuses no explanations were given. I find this unacceptable and expect at least a decent explanation of the delays and excuses to be presented. After i signed the forms and gave all my information i asked them to delete my personal information from the system, to which i was told in quite a rude manner that they can't delete it from the system and that i should call the administration of the clinic to do so. So not only i wasted about 2hours of my time, i should waste some more in order to get my own information deleted from their system.... no client service whatsoever read more
