TLDR - Avoid Dr Chen. Dismissed clear symptoms indicative of abnormal growths in my breast. Later saw a breast surgeon told me was very good I did not ignore as this can degrade to malignant cancer. This medical group was not helpful, sympathetic, proactive or caring through this medical episode. Flagged symptoms to Chen at my annual and was told it's nothing. No imaging ordered or follow up. Issues persisted 6 months later and I returned. Chen said it's probably nothing but would order Ultrasound for my "peace of mind" but would be fine. No urgency or concern. Fast forward, I have ultrasound which shows abnormal nodule suspicious enough to warrant breast biopsy. Chen was unavailable to discuss my results, findings or concerns in between ultrasound and biopsy. Failed to send the required referral to the Imaging Center after I requested this 3 times. Chen did not call me back after my 5 calls to the office. Chen responded to one of my 6 MyChart messages the day after my biopsy saying she had nothing more to offer than what the radiologist said. After the biopsy, Chen did not check in on me. The results showed an intraductal papilloma which was symptomic and requires follow up with a breast surgeon. Dr Chen told me to be happy and this is good news. Chen refused to help in requesting my medical images which were needed for my surgical consult. I had a very hard time getting these from medical records and Chens group was unwilling to offer any help. I've asked Chen to upload my ultrasound and biopsy results to MyChart for consolidation of medical records. This has not happened. Chen was unfortunately very absent, unhelpful and severely dismissed my clear symptoms that should have received prompt follow up a year ago. Some of the worst medical care I've had in my life but consistent with the care I've received at Mount Sinai. read more

I thought I was having a miscarriage and called to make an appointment with Dr. Morgan (I've been her patient for about two years). I was informed she was no longer an OBGYN with the practice so they arranged an appointment next day with Dr. Kim. I appreciated how quickly they could get me in. Dr. Kim was professional and courteous, and explained everything to me which I appreciated very much. I was a bit of a wreck, as you could imagine. She requested I come back three days later for a follow-up. I scheduled it with the front desk immediately after my appointment in-person. When I returned to the office, I found out (not when I checked in - but while I was in the examination room), that I was seeing a different doctor. I felt given my circumstances and how clearly upset I was during the initial appointment, they would have put me with the same doctor so I wouldn't have to go through re-explaining or re-sharing this trauma with an entirely new human. The nurse who I spoke with was dismissive of my concern and told me it was my responsibility to tell the front desk I wanted to see the same doctor. I think they should have flagged to me I wouldn't be seeing the same doctor at the day/time they gave me, so I could make an informed decision either way. I have zero complaints about the doctors themselves, but I felt the standard of care exhibited through this entire process was quite low. I was just being moved around to the next available even though I was in distress. If this kind of thing matters to you, I'd find another OBGYN. read more

I've been with this practice for over 10 years. Dr Morgan is exceptional, but the office is run so poorly. They are rude and do not assist in helping what so ever even with the simplest of issues. My 22 year old daughter also goes here and has problems with them as well. By the way, my daughter is shy and sweet natured and they walk all over her like she's not worth their time. Constant problem with Scheduling, prescription refills, not answering the phones and blatant general disregard for people. I've stayed with this practice so long because it was in my neighborhood, but now that I moved downtown, I will be looking for a new practice. Your response is hilarious. I asked the dr to respond to my message over the weekend which I left on my chart on Tuesday-I never asked to speak to her or to call me. And I never raised my voice. In fact, it was you who did. It pains me to write this, because I have had many good experiences at this office over the years, including with Dr. Kim. But my last and final appointment, I saw Dr. Chen. I have been struggling with bad periods, and the way she dismissed everything I told her -- they impact my ability to work, they last 8 days, the pain and spotting between periods made intimacy with my partner almost impossible -- she told me "that sounds like a normal period". I would explain the pain, and the longevity, and she'd cut me off with "yep, that's normal". Finally, as if dealing with a complaining child, she shrugged and said "periods suck". Woof. Periods suck. I can still hear her say those words. I'm a 30 year old, I know what a period is supposed to be like. I cried in the bathroom for fifteen minutes, so long that the front desk called because they thought I'd left without paying. It took me weeks to get up the courage to see another doctor, but I'm so glad I did. It was a complete 180 from what Dr. Chen was like. All it took was to actually believe me and do a simple, in-office ultrasound. Lo and behold, they found a polyp. I had it removed, and my periods are completely back to normal. I can have sex again, and no longer have a panic attack if I use the last tampon in my purse. I feel like I got my life back, no thanks to Dr. Chen. read more

15 minutes ago NEW The WORST PHONE ETHICS FROM MYNDIE!!! I called to reschedule an appointment because I was feeling unwell and was having a terrible day. When I called I was put on hold, and yelled at-- she must have been having a rough day. Upon my request to reschedule she yelled at me and stated " you're going to get billed"..I attempted to explain I was unaware of this policy as I haven't been there in quite some time and no one had advised about a fee for cancelling within 24hours not even via email or MyChart. She asked if I was going to reschedule or cancel. The way I was treated was awful over a bill. In the end I told Myndie- whom stated she was the manager when I asked to speak to one, that I would be contacting the BBB regarding her lack of professionalism and unlawful charges. She slammed the phone in my ear!! I dare the office to pull the call so they can hear the conversation. She was the rudest person and I'm not one to complain...I never have but this woman was extremely disrespectful and rude.So disappointed!!! read more

I saw Dr. Philips for a routine exam during which I became seriously ill and hit my head. She left me in the room alone and was completely negligent. I have seen every doctor at the OBGYN Westside. Most of the team including the nurses are knowledgeable, approachable and prepared for their patient visits. This 1 star rating is for Dr. Anna Bermudez who runs about 45 minute to see her patients and is never ready with supporting documentation and reports. Two of my girlfriends who referred me to the practice have seen Dr Bermudez in the past and have had similar experience to the one described above. read more

Dr Robles is my favorite OBGYN ever. She is kind, a good listener, patient and knowledgeable. However, what I liked most about my experience is that she allowed me to be an advocate for myself. I recently gave birth via c-section and wanted to share some feedback on the overall very negative experience I had at OBGYN Westside: 1. Front desk staff is often very rude and unprofessional (one staff member in particular). It got to the point where I dreaded calling to make an appointment or ask a question. 2. Doctors across the practice were incredibly rushed and never spent more than 5-10 mins with me at any of the check-ups (except the first visit) and made me feel badly for asking questions/wanting to discuss anything with them in more detail. 3. The Doctor who checked up on me the day after my c-section surgery was incredibly rude and lacking in compassion. She very much tried to push me out of the hospital after 2 days (though insurance covers 4 days) and tried to scare me into leaving sooner than I was ready, claiming the hospital may choose to throw me out at a moment's notice. It was clear she was just annoyed that she was going to have to come back into the hospital the next day to discharge me. The nurses at Mount Sinia were appalled by my Doctor and ensured me that no one was going to throw me out of the hospital and that of course I should stay another night if I felt I still needed additional care. 4. Not once did they go above and beyond to provide any additional care, compassion, or additional insight. For instance, at my 6 week appointment post-delivery, I was simply told I was all cleared "for everything." No insight on how to slowly ease back into working out etc. Additionally, when I asked about the scar tissue around my c-section scar, I was simply told that I would have to accept that it will be there forever. While I understand this may be the case, some empathy and a better bedside manner would have been appreciated while discussing this sensitive topic. I wish I had switched mid-way through my pregnancy. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Warning to patients, avoid Dr. Justine Kim at all costs. This was the most painful and unprofessional procedure that I have ever had. It was prolonged agony made worse because Dr. Kim couldn't figure out the instruments ("these grabbers aren't working"). I was doubled over in pain by the end. The most egregious part, she wore her hair long and streaming down her chest...while about to perform a procedure to collect several biopsies! When I asked her to put it up, she reluctantly agreed. I've never encountered a medical professional that wore their long hair down and hanging in the front while examining a patient, much less collecting tissue samples. Gross. read more

I have been going to OBGYN Westside for my annual checkup for the last 8 years. I recently have gone through a first pregnancy and birth with this practice, and I have nothing but positive things to say. I was glad to have met all the doctors before birth, so that when I went into the hospital for delivery, all the on-call doctors were familiar. I have had a good experience with each and every one of them (and I am someone who has anxiety regarding doctors in general). I felt comfortable at every one of my visits. A great bonus is I never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room, and was always seen to promptly once I was in the patient's room! Dr. Robles was the doctor at my delivery. I developed several complications during birth and was able to narrowly avoid an emergency c-section thanks to her patience and expertise. I am forever grateful and feel very lucky that I was so well cared for! read more

The doctor I saw was GREAT. Informative helpful kind. This review is for RECEPTION- very rude intolerant and pushy. I called about a billing issue and they said basically I should have known lab Corp deals with paps I said how should I know this when it was never told to me and never broken down to me when I asked reception about billing. She then transferred me to another person without warning, who also said I just should have known how their operation works. I'm not asking to take away charges only that when a patient asks for a pay breakdown you can tell them one of the services they received are billed separately. I have been going here for 11 years and have given birth to two daughters. Dr. Chen and Morgan are great. I went in recently for some odd symptoms I was having. Unfortunately I met with Dr. Kahan who was extremely rude, condescending and impatient. She did not seem to believe I had an issue and asked me to pick a symptom I wanted to discuss and not list all of them. After doing an ultrasound she did actually find something! I am considering moving doctors for the first time because she was so unhelpful. Note, the front desk also claimed I called and canceled my appointment when I never did. read more

Doctor Chen is wonderful. After I moved to the UES I thought I would find another doctor. It hasn't been easy to find one as competent. Plus having a doctor that will take your insurance. If you are lucky enough to become her patient, don't change. For me changes in life situation and insurance made it impossible to continue under her care. I started coming here for my annual exams when I moved to NYC. I never really gave the practice much thought- it was fine for my annuals. When I got pregnant, it felt natural that I would continue coming here. I had a very uneventful pregnancy with a couple of minor scares that they addressed quickly. I saw nearly everyone in the practice, which they recommended, in order to become familiarized with the whole team because any one of them could be the delivering OB. I never left my appointments feeling super excited or confident about what was discussed at my visits or what to expect in the future, but generally felt pretty neutral about the practice. Over time, I started to feel like maybe this wasn't the best fit. I would bring up my goals for birth or ask to discuss a birth plan and they just keep putting it off, which was discouraging. I didn't know if they even supported the type of delivery I was aiming to have. When I went in for my 34-week visit, I met Dr. Kahan for the first (and only) time. She was immediately defensive about me wanting to discuss a birth plan. At the mention of my being interested in delivering without an epidural and hoping to find natural way to stimulate birth rather than being induced (if needed), she said things like, "There are too many variables for it to be helpful to have a plan" and "You can refuse any recommendations, but this will be documented in your chart." I didn't say I would refuse any medical interventions at all, only that I have preferences. I am in the medical field and am familiar with this type of language and it was used completely inappropriately here- it's usually reserved for very argumentative patients and, even then, only when they are putting themselves at risk in some way. All I did was ask to talk about my goals for birth... with an OB... To learn about your patient's preferences should be welcomed with open arms! I don't know how I would care for any of my own patients without hearing their preferences for their care. I'm glad my husband was with me because it was nice to know that I wasn't alone in thinking she was rude, condescending, and uncaring. We walked out and immediately agreed we'd never go back. I switched to another practice the following week and couldn't have been happier. The doctors at the practice I moved to were extremely compassionate and professional and I wound up having a wonderful birth with them. A few words of advice: Do not ever feel bad or guilty about asking for what you want. Don't feel obligated to continue with a provider just because you've already been with them for a while. Go with your gut! You know what's best for you and your family. read more

Not sure what these people are on but I had an appointment for 10am they email me two days before to confirm my 4pm appointment. I wrote the time so they were wrong. Then on the day of my appointment they tell me that they don't take my insurance. Very unprofessional place. The front desk girl look like she's on heroine. Buyer beware!! I want to update my review so that people are made aware of the horrendous treatment I received as someone who was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Barbieri missed my breast lump that I had to point out to her myself. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo treatment. My biggest complaint is the negligence of her not thoroughly examining me because she absolutely rushed my appointment and for also not calling me for a full three days after my cancer diagnosis. All the doctors and staff here are fabulous. I was constantly calling to change appointments and the staff are so accommodating. When you are pregnant you meet with each doctor because you don't know who will be on call when you deliver. Dr. Kim started my induction and makes you feel so comfortable, she is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. Dr. Russman did my C-Section at Mount Sinai Hospital and was incredible! My recovery was short and my scar is perfect. I continue to see Dr. Morgan for my annual appointments and she is always timely and amazing! I am a baby when it comes to getting my blood drawn and I wish I could have nurse Jocelyn at every doctor I go to, she's the best. See you when I am pregnant for the next baby! read more

Michelle Morgan started off as my OBGYN, she came very highly recommended from a friend. Unfortunately I only saw her about twice after our initial visit and both times were very quick. She always seemed very busy and made me feel she was trying to get to her next appointment. The rest of the doctors were nice but as a first time expectant mother never really felt any of them took an interest in making me feel connected to and cared for. I'm going assume this practice has spread itself a little thin, and is great under normal circumstances-- but it was really sad and disappointing for me. I've never written a negative review for anything before in my life so I feel a little uncomfortable doing this... just don't want another new expectant mother to feel the same way I did. The doctor who delivered me was named Dr. Averbuch and she was truly wonderful. She was the youngest and newest doctor in the practice and was friendly, warm, caring, nurturing etc. wish I had experienced that in this practice my whole pregnancy:( The front desk staff creates a pretty negative environment. They are unfriendly and difficult and just plain mean. Im going to chalk part of this up to the hormones but I cried a few times leaving the office:( I'm sure all of the doctors are normally great, I'm hoping this was just my own personal experience and no one else feels this way I just didn't feel right not expressing this. I think this practice is better suited for someone in a third or forth pregnancy who doesn't need any direction and with a very flexible schedule. read more

I was new to town and looking for a good gynecologist on the UWS. I asked my PCP for a recommendation and without missing a beat she recommended Dr. Michelle Morgan. On my first appointment with Dr. Morgan, she sat down with me in her office (not the exam room) and took my medical history. Now I've gone to several gynecologist since college, and have few complaints with any of them. However, Dr. Morgan was the first to sit down with me pre exam (aka while I was still fully dressed, not shivering in a think paper robe in a way too cold exam room) to take my full history and really talk. A couple of weeks later I receive a call from Dr. Morgan. Not from Dr. Morgan's office, but from Dr. Morgan herself. She let me know that the lab had messed up the sample and she would need to retest. She let me know that it was a lab error and not to worry (I wasn't, but she aware that some patients can get anxious about these things.) She let me reschedule at my convenience and was again so apologetic for putting me through another exam. I'd highly recommend Dr. Morgan to other women. read more

I had a high risk pregnancy and everyone in the office was great. The staff is warm and friendly. The doctors made me feel confident that I was getting the best care during this pregnancy. This is a tough review to write. I honestly love Dr. Morgan, additionally Dr. Corbett is a fantastic practitioner. However this is the third year of coming to this practice that my billing was incorrect for my annual appointment. Every year I've been there I've had some issue that resulted in a 500+ bill for an all inclusive appointment and it has taken hours out of my life to resolve. Year one the front desk incorrectly entered my insurance card. Year two the appointment was billed under the wrong coding. Year three has been the most egregious so far, I had my appointment June 30th and the billing issues were JUST resolved today January 16th. Their billing person would not respond to calls and emails promptly and did not exude a profession demeanor. While again I stress, the doctors here are top notch, honestly it's almost not worth it based upon the inconsistency and errors of the administrative side. read more

Just left from getting my annual check up with Dr. Morgan. She came highly recommended from work colleagues. So glad I took their advice. She was fantastic! First thing when you check in you are brought to her office. You have a little get to know you chat so you can go over medical history and questions you may have. She maintains professionalism but is also very personable and disarming. In the exam room she is thorough, knowledgable and makes you feel comfortable in asking anything. She also has a system where you can access your medical info/results/chart online confidentially. So convenient! I'm so glad I went to her! I was sick and tired of looking for gynecologist that can see me immediately and explain to me every thing I need to know about my health. A friend recommended me her doctor, so I decided to try. I called their office and asked for appointment as soon as they can. They said they will accept me the following week(which is quick compare to other offices, who scheduled an appointment for a month later). The nurses were nice and the doctor was really caring and patient. She answered all my questions and explained me what and how she is going to check me. I definitely recommend them:) read more

The website for this practice says, "The doctors at OBGYN Westside, PLLC, on the Upper West Side of New York City, combine integrative medicine with state-of-the-art conventional medicine to deliver highly personalized women's health services." After my recent experience bringing my daughter for a consultation there, I'd say this is far from the truth. There was nothing integrative about Dr. Kahan or her advice. They put my daughter into an exam room and asked her to change before even talking to her or looking at her history. Dr. Kahan was noticeably surprised when we said we were there because the website said they took an integrative approach. The visit was in no way highly personalized. read more

I rarely write a review, however I feel my experiences with Dr Chen and all of her office personnel have been above and beyond what most people are exposed too. ... From the coffee they offer you, to the administrator director, to the doctors; (I've seen a few but felt most comfortable with Dr Chen) , Let's face it, a trip to the gyn is not fun. Been seeing Dr. Morgan for years. Yesterday I felt rush and she didn't give me referral and med she said she would. Asked my daughter to leave because she was coughing! My daughter had a mask on and sat there for 45 + minutes waiting for her appointment and then Dr. Morgan refused to see her. Front Desk staff are "cold" and not friendly. Never going back. read more

In summary, Dr Chen was pleasant but will try to juice you and isn't a prompt communicator. She didn't prescribe me travel medications that I needed until 2 days after I left the country, I had to find another doctor last minute who was willing to help me when she didn't respond to my emails. Also, she charged me $500 for a 2 second ultrasound contact with my stomach before determining that I needed a transvaginal ultrasound instead, which they then also charged me for. (Even though they knew I was a student and had no $$!) Cheap. read more

They recommended the mirena to me when I wasn't a good candidate for it and didn't meet the qualifications for it. It caused me to get tumors in my breasts. They put it in without an anesthetic which is unusual I learned from a second opinion. All around had health problems for almost a year because of these doctors! Don't go here!
