I want a haircut, not a style, not a fad. Mine is easy, high and tight. For those who don't know that's a military haircut. I am tired of going to the affordable brand places that don't even know what that is (I leave when they ask what that is). I also hate the big barbershops that cost over 20 bucks for a cut by a non barber. Helen is not the most social person. She wants to cut your hair at a fair price and then you can leave. Transitioned from Helen to Wally (his intent is to eventually change the name). Helen was good and did the basics; Wally is more inquisitive of your specific desires. Kind of old school in being sociable and use of scissors, razors, etc. My first visit with him, a mom was in the shop with her son (young teens). Wally engaged with them to make sure he met both of their desires. Her comment to me as they were leaving "He's great." Gone twice now and each time my wife gave her "thumbs up" - something that was borderline after a Helen haircut. read more

Walked into an empty shop. Voice from behind a curtain said, "I'll be with you in a couple minutes." Well, it was only a minute. Sat in the seat. Said I wanted a number two, and my mustache trimmed up. "No, we don't do that." Did the haircut fast, and a little rough with the comb. Haircut was ok. After 15 years of cutting my hair I was sad to see Helen sell this business and retire. Sadly, she sold it to what can best be described as Wally the butcher. I tried Wally several times hoping that he would understand what I wanted. Today was the worst hair cut I've ever had. When I expressed my disappointment at first he laughed when I asked him why thinks a poor hair is funny he became angry and said "it will grow back in 3 weeks". Helen is quick, efficient and does a great job at haircuts. She isn't talkative but is very quick with her job. If you want a barbershop with TVs and bunch of people ha gong out, this isn't the place for you. If you want a quick, good haircut then Helen is the one. Please advise she does not cut children hair nor does she do beards, strictly hair. Her machines have a vacuum attached so haircuts leave you with no messy hair everywhere. Finally, a barber shop that can cut my hair well! I have been to Helen's a few times already and have been very satisfied. She was able to cut my hair very quickly. I appreciated that I didn't have to share my "life's story", I was able to get a haircut in peace and quiet. A men's haircut is reasonably priced at $16 (plus tip). I've tried five other shops since relocating to Foothill Green area, and I have not been satisfied overall. Having given up traditional barbers many years ago, I decided to give Helen's shop a go today, and I could not be more pleased with the results. The shop was immaculate and her acumen as a barber was top notch. I have been looking for a stylist or barber to give me the look I wanted, and I didn't get exactly what I wanted until going to Helen's. Price of haircut, 17.95, is the best I've found, and no attempts to sell me products that I don't want nor sitting next to women in curlers, shampoo stations and smells. All said, I'm a happy camper and couldn't be more happy with my haircut. Oh, I didn't need an appointment as I did with the other shops, and I like that a lot. read more

Terrible customer service! I went in and I asked for a "5" on the top and "4" on the sides. She buzzed the sides and took the cape off as if she was finished--didn't even touch the top of my head! I told her very politely that I asked for the top to be buzzed as well, which is when Ms. Helen got very upset with me. Started to sigh and not respond to my thank you. A REAL barber. I bet a lot of folks would be surprised if they asked hair places if they have an actual licensed barber. The overwhelming response will be no! Most do not. Which is why they won't know what a half fade or low bald fade or high and tight is. If they have to ask ME what size guard to use then there's a serious issue. The mechanic never asks me what tools he should use when fixing my car! Helen knows these styles and many more by name because she's a licensed barber. I've had the same haircut for years. I can go into ANY licensed barbershop nationwide,ask for a half fade with half inch on top and it will look the same regardless without saying another word. With that said I'm partial to the flowbee because it sucks cut hair up to be cleaner, and provides an even cut. That's why I drive 40 mins every two weeks to Helens. Well worth it for a good barber. Also the best barbers I've ever had were always a bit standoffish... It's because anytime your good and you know it, you have the right to be! She takes like 5-7 mins to cut someone's hair if u ever walked in and seen a 'line'. It's not really a line at a place like this and if there was another barber at her shop, I'd still wait specifically for her anyway. That's how real American barbershops have always been!!! What's very ironic is she is Asian, but has nothing to do with how great she and her shop are! read more
