We stayed here in 2016 and loved it! A true counry feel with vineyards all around. The rooms were clean and ther was plenty of space, and everything worked. It was more than we expected for an older cottage. read more

Yarra Valley Grand Hotel

The Yarra Valley Grand Hotel is located in the heart of the Yarra Valley in the sleepy little town…read moreof Yarra Glen. The hotel is the hub of this community and is the most happening area every night of the week. There is good honest Australian pub food up for grabs, a decent range of beers and wines, and live music regularly. The pub itself is substantial in size and is a historic, heritage listed site. We stayed here as part of a winter special where you got a 3 night stay for the price of 2. The rooms were a decent size and had a very large and comfy bed (hands down the most important factor for me for a room). This is prime bed and breakfast accommodation as there is so much to explore in the day -wineries, breweries and more - and then a warm and inviting place to come back to in the evenings. It all makes for a great romantic getaway. There aren't so many accommodation options in Yarra Glen but you'd be hard pushed to find much better than the Yarra Valley Grand Hotel. Did I mention the owners were really nice to?

Best hotel bed that I have ever slept in. Live music was great, the sort of music that you can enjoy while having a general chat with your mates over a pint of beer. Didn't have to fight the music to be heard. All in all a very good choice for a romantic getaway.

This happened to a guest we met on our stay, we tried to contact management from our room to get him some help but the phone in our room didn't work. When we spoke to the receptionist the following morning his attitude was rather off hand. As far as facilities went - our room had a very high sided spa bath with shower over it. Being only 5 foot tall it was extremely difficult getting in and out of the bath. I don't know if there was some sort of plumbing fault or just extremely bad design but the bath edges and the bathroom floor were drenched each time we used the shower. There is not enough shelf space in the bathroom and the towel storage rack is also ridiculously high for a shorter person to access. On the up side the bed was comfortable. I will not use this motel again and don't recommend it.

"The Sebel: peaceful quiet neat and tidy" Reviewed March…read more22, 2012 first call inquiry direct to the hotel. Very polite gent full of information about the hotel the group club cards available to earn extra rewards i.e. mirvac group. On this call was put through to the 'bookings' area - polite lady. provided requested information and options. Drive up: well landscaped gardens and Golf course was immaculate (as you would expect). The road into /out of the hotel was long and the entry was a little confusing. The road is more like a private lane drive. It appears that this 'estate' has taken a enviro-keep approach - the location has something to do with this. There are lakes and ponds with ducks and birds about; and natural wildlife - please do drive slowly - and STOP as the ducks cross the road [unlike that white prado late 2011 or early 2012 model seen on 22.3.2012 at 9.55 driving into the estate at over 40km an hour and rushing through the ducks forcing them to flee for their lives! Not only did we witness that but we also know a resident seen it and the older style white ute behind us! shame on you they live there too] It is this inclusion of the wildlife that makes this hotel peaceful, relaxing and ambient. pass the Day Spa on your right; taking the second exit continue all the way through At the hotel: Foyer entry: left is a wall with an electrical fire place encased into the wall, which has directly in front of it a seating area; two lounges that seats 3 possibly comfortably and sitting chair(s) - these face away from the counters. There are some reading materials neatly laid out and bowl of fruit. On the right are the counters. Tucked away into the corner it appears to be a concierge area - but this was vacant each time we went in or out or past the desk. On the main part of the right side of the foyer was the Reception. Greeting/ Staff: two staff members at the counter. We were warmly greeted by a gent. Lovely welcoming smile, and he listened to what we actually asked. (rating first impression 8.5 / 10) We made our selection and also asked for the membership /sign up form for this club. we were able to enjoy some benefits immediately. the hotel had its own secure card swipe access parking. We drove out from the carport around to the swipe area; entered secure parking. Lift: entering the lift we were able to select our floor level without any security pass required. ROOM: Nice size. neat presentation. tidy. Entering there is a -) double wardrobe to the right (behind the entry door in our room) with an older style look flush doors (not sure what they were made off actually) very light to open and close. inside were dress gowns, iron, kettle, toaster, safe and extra bedding. -) next to the wardrobe lower cupboard which has the bar fridge inside (there was chocolates, juice, water and alcohol in there *you can ask for this to be removed also* and there was room for your own drinks too without having to take theirs out, it was good keeping things cold too; there seemed to be an odour of some kind coming from the fridge cupboard or fridge, think it may have been defrosted recently or turned off/and recently put back on when the doors were closed your could not smell it. Though the freezer compartment was very small Two glass shelves which had glasses, cups and coffee mugs and saucers. -) OLD tv set NEC with the older analogue channels and a couple of extra sports channels. No digital channels at all (72, 73, 90,99, 11,etc) - there was a tv channel to tv number guide provided by the hotel though. Which was nice. But not having the option to connect laptop onto the tv via USB or data cable was VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!! very disappointing. -) Next the tv was the work desk area with a desk lap, phone and internet connection. The internet is pay for use (check the applicable fees for yourself before use - BEFORE USE!![signing up to the mirvac club gives you a free internet benefit!***]. BATHROOM. -first impression - neat, tidy, clean basin. mirror clean. two basins; complimentary amentites /personals. Full size bath below a window with a blind. toilet over in corner clean. Shower:- door clean. acrylic bottom had yellow in the corners and on the grout - which is NOT what we'd expected; in hotels we expect that the bathroom is cleaned throughly after each use but this say's it may not have been (I've seen tiled showers/baths that are over 10 years old without this yellow build up and are cleaned once a week). Issue was /is how well are they cleaned? king(*) size bed. there was plenty of pillows and a pillow request option available VIEWS from room Bar; Gym/Day spa; Room Tip: Ask for room with golf course view. To start off, we had lunch here and the dining area had gorgeous garden views as well as Yarra valley views. Very clean and decorated nicely with orchids and portraits. The food looked amazing and every bite was tastier and tastier. We had entrees, main food, as well as desserts. The beef brisket was aged for 17 hours and was so tender. The mackerel was surprisingly tasty and the eggplant was perfect. Perfect pairing with pickled shallots and mascarpone mousse. Their side dishes of Brussels sprouts and pumpkin was also quite tasty. Now on to desserts!!!! My favorite part of any meal. Let's just say the cappuccino cake with espresso and sweet & sour apple tart was equally superb. The apple tart looks like Snow Whites !!! Beautiful dish arrangement and the shortbread was good. Lime apple cinnamon cream was amazing. You open the core and there are even more yumminess inside. their cappuccino, cafe, and tea selections were good too. If I could I would give this place 6 !!!
