My family has been buying a fresh Turkey for 35 years! And as always this year's Thanksgiving and Christmas Turkey were both absolutely delicious. We had guests over who had never had a fresh Turkey and they could not stop raving how tender and tasty it was, which made me proud since I cooked it! Never once in 35 years have we been disappointed! I just wanted to give our thanks to the family who work so hard to make this farming happen, it cannot be easy especially in these times! The last thing I need to say is the girl at the other end of our annual call is an absolute treasure. I really wanted to love this turkey BUT...I ordered a 15 pound turkey at a cost of 67.05 and expected it to be at least as good as the other reviews said it was. Unfortunately, it was tough, sinewy, virtually impossible to fully carve and practically inedible. I've cooked dozens of turkeys over the years and have never spent so much money for such a horrible turkey. In case you're thinking it must have been an isolated case of someone who just didn't like the Helger's turkey he bought, my friend's also bought a turkey (20 lb.) from Helger's the same day and also had to struggle with carving it and found it to be tough and extremely sinewy. Amazing turkeys here! Wendy was so helpful when I called to order a turkey. I called last minute in a bind and she came through. Chad met me at 10am on the weekend so I could pick it up. He was so nice and friendly, we were even about 10 minutes late and he was so kind and patient. The turkey was fresh, 16.5lbs and took about 4 hrs to cook, just like they said it would. I couldn't be happier with their business. I've already posted on our military website here in Newport, hoping more people will order their turkeys from Helgers! Thank you again, Wendy and Chad! A farm fresh turkey from Helger's is the single greatest improvement I have ever made to my Thanksgiving Day feast. This wonderful family-run turkey ranch has been raising the tastiest birds for a very long time. They are smart, charming and above all, caring of their livestock. I'd give 6 stars if I could. i was extremely satisfied with Helger turkey farm.. this was my first year buying a turkey from them and it was absolutely delicious!. they definitely raise their birds right! I came from Attleboro just to get my turkey and their are other farms that were cheaper and closer but I don't care I loved my turkey and I will be back in years to come. their customer service was excellent also! they stood open 45 minuets late for me to pick my turkey up. very nice people to talk to. read more
