The Aquidneck Grower's Market is a staple for Newporters of all walks of life. From 2-6 PM every…read moreWednesday during the summer, you can see them line up to sample the wares of food vendors from the island and beyond. It gets pretty darn crowded, so if you can, try to come around 2pm or closer to the end of the day to beat the scads of Lilly Pulitzer clad housewives, patchouli scented hipsters, and miscellaneous dog owners who frequent this pop-up marketplace. Parking is an absolute NIGHTMARE, so do everything you can to come by foot. Literally. The street is so narrow. You will not find a space. Do not even try. There's a good range of vendors, who sell everything from fresh fruits and vegetables (try some raspberries!) to prepared foods (curried chicken lettuce wraps at the Boru Noodle Bar stand are AMAZING), and even some non-food stands, like one that sells homemade essential oils and body glitter. My top picks are the Tricycle Ice Cream cart (so cute and Instagram friendly! Try the strawberry shortcake ice cream sandwich!), June Love's English Bakery (the titular Mrs. Love is the fabulous British dessert making grandma we didn't know we all needed), and the aforementioned Boru Noodle Bar stand, which is new to the Market, but soon to give the perennial "popular kid" Tallulah's Tacos a run for their money! Head to the Aquidneck Grower's Market before the summer's over - you'll be so glad you did! And get me a strawberry shortcake ice cream sandwich, will you?!

This is the farmers market located at Newport Vineyards. During the spring/summer, it's typically…read moreoutside right next to the grapevines; during the colder months, they have it inside the winery. Lots of local businesses from seafood to veggies to coffee. One of my favorites are the croissants from Olga's Cup and Saucer, that's based in Providence. An English bakery from Middletown called June Love's have some amazing lemon tarts (which tends to sell out quickly). There's also a local vendor who sells cute baby onesies and kids shirts that I've picked up in the past for my now 1-year-old. Price range from vendor to vendor can go from reasonable to "damn those are some pricey mushrooms!" - I mostly swing by for the croissants and lemon tarts, if they're around that week. It's also nice you can still do a bit a wine tasting inside during the winter months.

It's easy to find what you need all at reasonable prices. I prefer this Saturday market to the one on Wednesdays off of Memorial Boulevard in Newport because there is plenty of parking in the Newport Vineyard parking lot. I recently discovered that there is an early morning Yoga class that is offered before the market opens in the area as well. That's what I call a diverse farmer's market! They're open every Saturday from 9am-1pm from June through November. Plan some great meals and meet your farmers who are growing your food!
