They have fresh produce, homemade jams, pies, dips, sauces etc etc. We get 5 bundles of firewood for $20 and over the summer would drive here to get their corn on the cob. This was the best corn we found all season. I recently made two big batches of corn chowder and man, was it delicious.

Across the street is a picturesque white clapboard historic church, and a cozy library. This all makes for a lovely setting for the Scituate Rotary Farmers Market. Each Saturday from 9-12 you can shop from not only local fruit, vegetable, and meat farmers, but you can also purchase handmade foraged art photo prints, goat milk soap, a variety of crocheted items, plants, flowers, and so much more. There is often live music, baked goods to savor, and sometimes food trucks. This is the perfect Saturday morning place, and you can also stroll through the lovely shops and cafes of North Scituate after perusing the farmer's market. This market is seasonal - so be sure to visit from spring through fall. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Always good food and laughs when I pick up my weekly half share. And always great company to learn from and share recipes with. Every Tuesday in the summer and fall I pick up a random assortment of fruits and veggies at their West Side home, conveniently located. I look forward to the classics like lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, basil, the "I usually walk by that in the grocery store" items like chard and turnips, and the "I've never seen or eaten that before!" items like garlic scape and kholrabi. And they have eggs to buy, too! The best part is that I never feel stupid asking "what is this?" or "what is the simplest way to cook this?" I love the CSA because it encourages me to experiment in the kitchen and eat many things that I wouldn't otherwise buy at a farmer's market. It's fun, supportive, great community, and makes food an adventure. The farm itself, now in Johnston at the historic Mathewson Farm, is perfectly picturesque. Chickens wander around. The old barn and farm house are charmingly old school in their architecture and wear. As a CSA member, you can choose to pick up your weekly harvest in Johnston or on the West Side of Providence. They make it really convenient, and have a fun blog, too! Matt and Catherine also welcome CSA members to the farm to participate in the farming, whether picking or weeding. It's an educational experience, too. If you're not into CSAs, you're probably already a fan of Red Planet Farm - they supply to Chez Pascal, La Laiterie, Local 121, New Rivers, and Nick's On Broadway, as well as co-ops like Little City Growers and Urban Greens. And if you know Providence dining, you know that it doesn't get ANY better than the restaurants listed above! Tiny, quaint, and friendly neighborhood goat farm with excellent artisanal goat cheeses and spreads…read more- with a clean, mild taste and no barn-yardy flavors. The cheeses are creamy and not chalky like most goats' milk cheeses. The proprietress takes wonderful care of her goats - she gave us a short tour of her farm -- and they are well-cared for and clean. Her little shop also has soaps based on goats' milk, fresh eggs, and some goats' wool items for sale. All made on the premises!
