    First helicopter ride Eva!
    Patrick J.

This was my first helicopter tour ride ever so I wasn't too sure on what to expect. My mind was definitely blown away! We started in Norwood, then made our way out to some of the islands down the south shore before heading upwards towards the city of boston. The views were absolutely amazing! I enjoyed every second of it. Our pilot was pretty cool and gave us a brief synopsis of what we were looking at as we flew over. The pilot didn't give an in depth tour about the history of certain things like what you might get on a duck boat tour, but it was still fine without that element. For my folks with sensitive stomachs, know that the ride can get a little bumpy at times. It was a little windy the day we went so you could feel the helicopter shake around a lot in the air. At times I felt like I might vomit but I managed to keep it together . This might be a personal thing but I think it helped not eating to soon before the ride. I think I had a light lunch several hours before. If you go to this place I hope you enjoy the ride and wonderful views! Once again it was awesome!!

    Boston from above.

My parents and I purchased a Groupon to enjoy the Mansion tour on a brisk spring day. Jeff, the…read morepilot, is fantastic and you will feel comfortable with him and learn a lot over your quick tour. He runs this company, where he provides these sorts of tours, as well as also owning an aerial photography business which is pretty cool/interesting. The Mansion tour is the shortest (12 minutes) but still a great experience and you'll see lots of awesome Newport attractions...the bridge, the mansions, fort adams, ocean drive, downtown, etc. You'll have your own headset where Jeff will point out attractions, and you can also talk to your other thrill seekers through the headset. Be sure to bring your camera as the pictures you'll get are incredible! Tip: -You can purchase a DVD (about $25) as an add-on to your trip. We did not do this but many others did and were happy with their purchase! -This is NOT a scary experience at all so if you are concerned about a fear of heights, etc, do not be! Perhaps choose to sit in the back seat (one guest sits up front with Jeff and the other two sit in the rear) as you'll be able to enjoy the views but not as easily see the straight down view from the front. -Get there a little early to watch the folks that sky dive at the same property (they have picnic tables outside you can hang out at until the woman picks you up to drive you over to the helicopter in a golf cart!) -Great gift idea for any friend/family who loves Newport/RI!

This was my second flight lesson ever, since my last one was 3 years ago, this one was an intro…read moreflight. (Last lesson was also intro, different flight school). If you're just doing it for the experience, are dreaming of your licence, or actively pursuing it, a word of advice: communicate with your instructor on what you want to do and see in your lesson. You may not get to land on your first lesson, but if you want to make a radio call, ask if that's okay by your CFI. Compared to the first flight school, this lesson was more in depth and hands on. I got a pre-flight briefing of the instrumentation I can expect in the cockpit, and I got to participate in the full pre-flight checklist. While I had my CFI backing me up, I was also able to steer the plane on the ground during taxi (before and after being in the air). While in the air, my instructor was great about showing me how to fly leve, making proper turns, and explaining a little bit about how to get lined up for landing. Towards the end of the lesson I was able to get some practice taxiing and was able to make some radio calls. Flying a plane is complicated, make no mistake, but it's one of the most amazing experiences that cannot be explained in words, they must be experienced first hand. I'm glad that this flight lesson, even though technically an intro was able to cover so many different elements of general aviation in a hands-on fashion. It goes without saying that my CFI, Jason (I think) was awesome and made my second flight lesson a reminder of why I love flying so much, and dream of getting my pilot's license.

I had begun at ECAC with the goal of completing my last few requirements to complete my private…read morepilot's license and get checkride ready. My friend, who was a flight instructor there, had recommended me to ECAC. With my first instructor, I was surprised by her lack of professionalism and ability to be consistent with plans we set. After a ground lesson didn't cover any of the material we had discussed focusing on in advance, she was unable to explain how what we covered matched the plans we had made. After speaking about this with the chief pilot, Marc Nathanson, he validated these concerns and recommended another instructor and said I should call to ask about getting my money back for the lesson that did not cover what I had agreed on. As soon as I walked into ECAC the next week to meet with my new instructor, I was yelled at by Bob Wall, the manager, in front of clients and instructors. He took my dissatisfaction with the previous instructor personal and mocked me for not already being a pilot, saying I was, "no one compared to the people there." I had done exactly what Marc had told me to do, and was horrified by how I was treated for it. I was there to try and continue as a student at ECAC, but seeing how it was run was embarrassing. It was clear that this was not a place where I could finish my training. While some of the other staff were supportive and sympathized with my concerns, they even recommended that I would get better training at a different flight school. The other reviews which pointed out the poor management of this school were true, and I should have listened to them from the start. I do not recommend this school for its unprofessionalism in management.

Warning: Seacoast Helicopters https://seacoasthelos.com/team/…read more In December I bought a helicopter tour gift certificate for my son as a Christmas present. Recently we tried to make a reservation and were told the "helicopter" (singular) is not operating while they wait for scheduled maintenance. When I asked when that's scheduled for they said they didn't know and they'd call me. They advertise 5 aircraft but all are not flying? Is that how these businesses run? Ground everything and wait around for the maintenance tech to show up but you don't know when?https://www.facebook.com/Seacoast-Helicopters-563364437039014/ I got the feeling I was being smoke screened so I asked for a refund and they agreed. $675! I also told them the card I used has been cancelled due to fraud. I instructed them to use a new card. Of course they didn't listen and attempted on the old card. Peoples Bank said the refund will never make it to a cancelled card. Today when the refund didn't arrive, I decided to drive over to Pease and see if I could talk to someone. Their place was a ghost town. 4 choppers sitting in a hangar. 1 kid intern who's been on the job 2 weeks. I tell him I need to speak with someone of authority and we need to resolve the refund today. He puts the owner on the phone. He's evasive, slippery, condescending. Before I left he promised me he'd put a check in the mail to me today. Later I got a text message from him saying he's not going to send a check and I'll get a refund on the card I used to make the purchase. You know, the one that Peoples Bank said would not work! Sheesh. Not a great listener. This is a guy who speaks on full broadcast mode. No receiver. Phrases like "you need to listen" "I don't need to listen to you" "Are you calling me a liar?" You know the twist and shout school of communication. Twist words and shout a lot. After I got off the phone, the intern tells me he's been trying to process 15 refunds in the 2 weeks he's been there and only 8 have gone through. Then he tells me his first paycheck was "mailed" to him but he never got it. Finally it did arrive but the co founder told him not to cash it and she'd write him another check. You know where this is going when they say "the check is in the mail" and "don't cash that one, we'll give you a new one". I tell the poor kid (literally poor in the context of they don't seem to pay him) that he ought to be concerned if a helicopter tour company hasn't flown any helicopters in weeks. He says "we don't have any pilots". Of course you don't. People leave if they don't get paid! Later I called back to ask the intern a question and he says "guess what, they are selling the company and I got laid off." Facebook page hasn't been updated since June. A hangar full of helos not flying. No pilots. Screwing with a summer intern. Screwing with paying customers. Screwing with pilots. Beware.

Every avenue to contact the company since last summer has been unanswered. We got burned on a…read morebirthday flight the day before last summer.
