Me and my wife have been coming here at least twice a year since 2013 and we've always had a blast! All employees have been friendly, efficient and professional - some have even been outstanding. I'm talking from the doormen, to the person releasing our tickets, to the bartenders, to the people seating us, to the waitstaff - never a problem. The food is good bar food, it gets the job done while I'm drinking. No complaints. The bathrooms and bar area are nice. If you have problems here, there's a good chance that YOU'RE the problem. read more

Comedians. Seeing a comedy show is always hot or miss. I don't know how they pick these performers, but some are so damn awful, the Helium club is not cheap, they should screen there comedians better. read more

35 years old and this was my first time at comedy club. Shame on me. The tickets at Helium are Will Call by default. There are no mailed or mobile tickets for this venue, unfortunately. I arrived 30 minutes before show start and the Will Call line moved rather quickly. The line to get into the showroom was longer than Will Call. I purchased reserved seating and once I got inside, one of the attendants walked us to our seats. There's a two item minimum per person in the showroom, but it doesn't matter what you buy. The waiters walk around periodically to ask what you'd like to order and bring your check closer to the end of the show. We went to see Vinny Guadagnino and he was hilarious. His two openers were awesome as well. There's a parking garage right next door and also a good amount of metered street parking nearby, too. read more

Have been to a few shows here and it's just fine, pretty average comedy club experience from staff to food to seating. The entry process checks your ID and you get a pat down, then you go to get your tickets. There is a small bar area beyond that next to the show room lounge. As to the lounge, the front area has lower seats slightly more comfortable. The back sections all have high top hard chairs that get uncomfortable sitting on for long. Food and drink options are not good price to quality ratio. Mostly seem like microwaveable or frozen fried things. Staff seemed nice enough and quick to help. There are some good features and acts here though which makes up for that, though it could be a better experience for the patrons if they improved some of the seating or menu options. You come on a first come first serve basis. The seats are extremely tight and next to each other. You'll definitely want to come with your group so you get seated together. Everything you want in a modern comedy club! The service people have their flow down pat and they were helpful when our party got separated to make sure we could sit together (thanks for nothing SEPTA!). Drinks were strong, food is basic. Ask for extra sauce or you won't get much. The venue is well laid out so everyone can see the small center area, bathrooms are clean. it does get a bit stuffy so be prepared with layers. This isn't really the place to go for a cheap night out- but I felt it was a worthy experience and worth telling friends to come along. They have acts and events come through constantly and ours was sold out so be sure to get tickets early if you really want a show. Glad we found this place and hope to return! read more

I've gone here a few times and it is standard comedy club overpriced, mediocre drinks and food but that's the nature of comedy clubs. They have good acts so you go and have fun. The entrance line is chaotic and a fight waiting to happen and they do no crowd management. But the last show I went to they continued to serve alcohol to a man who was visibly intoxicated. He never stayed in his seat, instead constantly talking to the women in front of him. He took a phone call in the middle of the show! The Server gentLy asked him to stop talking twice but never was a bouncer called. He ruined the show for us and we couldn't even hear the last jokes. What really annoyed me was I wrote to the club twice and never heard from them. read more

Came here yesterday on St. Patrick's Day with my wife and friends to see Martin Amini. Great show! I'm now known as "Philly White Guy" as my group was not only the oldest but Whitest too according to Martin in the audience of a couple hundred plus for the early show. We had purchased our tickets a couple months in advance and they were waiting for us at the box office (will call) after we made our entrance into the club and were all carded. There's a small hallway of memorabilia signed from past famous performers along with a merch section and then you get to the staff who asks how many in your party and tells the waitstaff where to seat you. My party was second row back off the left side of center stage in a spot that could easily be interacted with by the comedians, which I was being noticed in my Eagles jersey (green for St. Patrick's Day). As I said earlier, it holds about 250 people and it was packed this evening with mostly 20-year-olds and a good bit of 30-year-olds. Everyone had a great time. The seats themselves are better than banquet seats and mostly comfortable. Some table setups will have you seated with others that you may not have been expecting. The waitstaff came around often enough, and the drinks and food were actually reasonably priced. My fried chicken sandwich turned out to be two chicken fingers on a decent sized roll with tomato and lettuce with a zingy mayo that made it much better. I subbed tater tots for fries and they were nice and crispy and came with a small ramekin of ketchup. My St. Patty's Margarita was sickeningly sweet, and the Guinness beer could have been colder. My wife and friends only got drinks which were fine. There is a mandatory two-item per person for the show which could be drinks or food or both. Most paid with credit card on the spot but they did take cash. The bathrooms are in a bar area just outside the main performance area. However, anything purchased there does not count towards your two items so be sure to order with the waitstaff in the main area. After the show as there was a VIP Meet and Greet, they had guests leave towards the door and the VIP get in line on the opposite side of the room. Everyone was orderly. Martin said the show would be featured on his YouTube channel next week or so, so if you see the video about Mike the Philly White Guy being a "Wooden Spoon Survivor" that's me. Adele Givens performed here over the weekend, and we had a blast! There is a two drink minimum, but there are lots of options, and the staff was good about giving you enough time between them so that you didn't feel rushed to finish them. It's a pretty small venue, so get your tickets ahead of time, and get to the venue at least 30 minutes early if your general admission so that you get the best seat possible. read more

Went to see Steven Ho--got there about an hour before showtime and walked right in without any wait. It wasn't too crowded, so we were seated right away. It did take our server a little while to get to us, but it was understandable since they were handling multiple tables that had arrived before us. Decent menu items and good views of stage from the whole venue. Tickets are fairly priced, and their are good food and drink options served throughout the shows. Went last night to see the headliner Justin Silva. Him and Trev put on a great show. Even the host was hilarious. I love coming here for comedy shows. The only thing is they're not digital yet so you have to show up early to get your physical tickets and the get into another line to get into the show room. We were there at 8:30 for a 10:00 show as they asked us to arrive at 9:00 since we were a large party. We sat at the bar, had drinks, got our tickets but but the line started early for people without reserved seating and it was out the door and down the street. We literally had tot wait until the last person came in to get in line. They need a better system. You also have to remember that there is a 2 item minimum per person in the showroom. If they got a better system with ticketing and entering it would be a better process but all in all a decent experience. read more

Helium is my favorite! We have gone a few times over the past year and always have so much fun. We usually go to dinner in the area first, but they do have food and it's pretty good. The tickets are cheap, we go for the reserved seats but the general admission ones are good too. There is a drink minimum keep in mind but it's not overly expensive or anything. Sometimes they have late night ticket specials for 10$ tickets if you're a late night person. The service from the waitstaff is always great too. Went to helium to see T.I. Featuring the HaHa Mafia. The venue was spacious but the hi-top seats In The back were close together. The person next to me (that i did not go to the comedy show with) was super uncomfortable. The chicken fingers and fries were so good. My friend ordered them and I said at 1st I didn't want any but I tried a fry and dipped it the honey mustard. I was hooked and ate most of the meal! The drinks were watered down to me. A great time was had! T.I. Did way better than expected. HaHa Mafia was funny as well. read more

A larger room than you might expect from the street . The showroom seats 250 (close together) people. The sight lines are good and the stage area is very compact. My Hurricane tasted like chemicals and was disappointing. The staff is overly attentive, coming around many times during the headliner's set. read more

Many years and countless comedy shows later, I can say that Helium is still my favorite comedy club. Comfortable but not cramped, a menu with TWO salad options, and a lineup that has a lot of comedians I like. What else is there? I'm of the age where I don't want to get drunk at a comedy show. And I don't always want fried food--a comedy club staple. So offering salad is a pretty big deal for me. I like the seating too. I don't feel like I'm sitting in my neighbor's lap. We even have a favorite table (not near the front), though you can't request a specific table with reserved seating so we buy GA and try to time our arrival for that table to be available. I love standup comedy, and Helium books some of my favorites. I've already got two more shows planned for the new year. read more

As an artist, I enjoy live art, and it doesn't get more live than at Helium Comedy Club. I came last year to see a comedian I loved and had a blast. This time around I went with a friend to see the Stress Exorcist, since we both are *very stressed* (lol). We were seated up front which was nice, get there early (about 45-30 minutes for up close seats). As a short person I need this so highly recommend doing it. The service is good the waiters can tend to be too attentive when the show is going on so be aware of that. Now for the saddest part, the saddest part. The food. I ordered the Chicken Avocado Sandwich which was beyond underwhelming. It reminded me of what a gym bro would eat if they solely want protein and forgo flavor. Unfortunately that is not me, and I wanted my sandwich to well taste like something. It was pale and supposedly "grilled" but seemed boiled to me. The avocado was barely in there and the bread was chewy (not in a good way). Some honey mustard that tasted like something from a bottle. No seasoning to be found. My friend got the Fried Chicken. There was no fried to be found, it was essentially a chicken tender that you would get from the school cafeteria. He didn't finish it and was really disappointed. The fries he said were decent. For the drinks he got a cocktail, that was peaches flavor. He enjoyed it which was a positive. I got the grapefruit juice which was good and the ginger beer. That was not good and can't believe they sold it at all. There was barely any ginger and really flat. The show itself was so fun though and we enjoyed the laughs. There is a two item per person minimum, which can be a pain when the food is subpar and the drinks can be hit or miss. I want to come back but the two item minimum makes it difficult to want to come back when the food is overpriced for the low quality. read more

I'd never been here before. My friend called at the last minute and asked if I would want to see JR De Guzman. Why not? The venue is cool. Great seats, not super small but sizable enough to feel like it was an intimate evening with the performer. There isn't a bad seat. The food is nothing special. We got chicken fingers and fries and it was the same status I would achieve if I were to make everything frozen on a sheet pan in the oven at home. But that's ok. You don't come for the food. (Or drinks). The cocktail menu didn't suit my taste. One drink included gummy bears? We ordered off of the menu and I had to send my vodka martini back (I NEVER do that). But they were really sweet about it. Anyway...it's not about the food or drinks. Come because it's a cool way to support up and coming talented performers like JR De Guzman. I like the limited capacity with social distancing - pre-COVID-19 I always felt like it was way too crowded... I saw D.L. Hughley here and enjoyed the opening acts as well as D.L. Things that have changed at Helium in the COVID-19 era: arrive early with your entire party to be seated together, social distancing enforced for entry lines, staff was wearing masks and face shields (and I think gloves too), ordering of food and drinks as well as payment is all contactless, seating was spaced out well also. read more

Someone called me from 215.496.9001 on Thursday July 25th at 2pm and asked me to do a survey about my last visit and that I would receive a $5.00 gift card or voucher I can use at the Helium and that I should receive it by email in the next 5 min and I never received it. I called a few times the following week and the guy who answered was not helpful and didn't seem to care. I sent an email to management and left a voicemail to the box office manager but no one wants to help. Went here for the first time and had a blast. The place looks small outside but even for the sold out show it was a comfortable experience. Folks who said there aren't bad seats in the house were right. My general admission tickets gave us the perfect view of the stage. The one caution I will give is for the food. We ordered Buffalo bites, pretzel bites, mozzarella sticks and fries. It's obviously freezer food and isn't really tasty. Considering the price I'd only order fries next time. The drinks were great and packed a nice punch, so the food didn't warrant taking off any stars. Overall pleased and will be back. read more

I'm not sure about this one. Upon entering, I picked up our tickets. Was directed to the bar. I don't drink. I'm not against drinking but I'd rather not. But I understood a requirement of the ticket is to buy two things off the menu. Hold up before I get to this point. I brought two tickets to see DC Curry. $24 tickets =$48. They added a service charge on top of the ticket prices. I don't mind the price it's the sneaky thing that irks me. Ended up being almost $65 how idk. So back to the two drink thing. Or two things off menu. I buy two peach something's. Didn't expect them to be that big but they were. Had to get ice strained out of one because I figured it would be watery before I got through the first one. Glass cups might I add. So closer to the show. It starts to get packed. Like real packed. So we're all squished like sardines. They open the doors and it's no structure. And people don't have consideration for the next so they just trying make sure they got good seats even though when you get to the front of the line it's assigned seating. It's extra dark in there. Not even like a good dark. They got like weird color lights you got to get use too. We're seated on the back wall. On bar stools that were comfortable to start but got irritating after awhile. Different table options all over. Not a huge place but spacious to a point. Eventually the waitress comes over and ask what would we like. Not to say we weren't going to order but I tried to say I just brought two drinks at the bar. And she told me they don't count. . That there are signs saying those don't count at the bar and we have to buy in the lounge. But she was so Dismissive, that I kinda felt offended or else I would've left it alone. Asked another worker. Same dismissiveness in their answer. But he would send a manager. Let me remind people, lighting is horrible. The girl that gave us our tickets at the front, didn't say look for the signs she directed us to the bar. Anyways that pissed me off but I still ordered. We got a tea with blackberry syrup. So it's not a sweetened tea and then add the blackberry. It's tea and tap water. And then the syrup is lightly added. 2/10 on that. And we got a Chips and Dip. Went to the Down and Dirty show Dec 2 which was great. I will return for the comedy but will be more selective in what I order drink-wise. My friend ordered an espresso martini which she was unable to drink as it was extremely sweet. The replacement drink she ordered was supposed to be a mudslide which looked like it was watered down. Cremesicle drink I ordered was 'meh'. Please attend to repairs needed in the women's restroom. There were 2 stalls out of order and water on the floor between the handicapped stall and the one next to it. read more

Really great experience going here. The parking garage is literally a few feet away, which is perfect. All of the staff were super nice. The only issue we had was, they require a 2 item per person purchase while in the showroom. ( anything purchased at the bar doesn't count.) The issue we ran into was, we're vegan, I do have a dairy allergy . I contacted the venue a few weeks in advance to see if there was anything vegan available. Unfortunately, no. I was surprised, being in the city, and in this day, that not even one item was considered to be put on the menu for those with allergies or vegan. We also can not drink alcohol, so it was 3 sodas and a water. I don't argue the 2 item per person, I just wish there were options for everyone.
