Finally stopped in for some drinks and to try the food menu. Located right near many music venues, Doom brings a dark metal theme. Dimly lit with some unique decor mass for a cool hangout. Has a large downstairs bar fully stocked, and also an upstairs balcony area. Tried the Sichuan dry rub wings - good spice flavor and decent quality wing. Also had a house buffalo wing also good. Drink menu has some drafts and unique cocktails. Had one or two of those, both good of course. Bartender really knowledgeable and welcoming, chatted about some metal shows too. Metal isn't my thing, but I've always been comfortable in metal crowds. Metal shows and bars that cater to that crowd seem accepting of all kinds of people, in my experience. So I was excited to visit Doom. They have a nice bar menu with local brands. There's an impressive amaro lineup. They were doing a special menu on our visit in collaboration with ZigZag BBQ. We enjoyed that. Bartenders were good. They were friendly and attentive. When I want an Amaro or metal-scene-loving friend with me, this will be my place. read more

Popped into Doom before a show at Franklin Music Hall and really enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere is true metal goth style and enjoyed the range of music played within this category. They have some records for sale and some small merch available too. Our food and beverage was great. We got the Mapo Hot Dog, Duck Grilled Hearts, Fries, Roast Beef Sandwich, Sichuan Wings. I also tried the Blood Tonic and my partner a couple of the beers. Everything was VERY tasty and came out the kitchen quick and Hot! I will definitely be back and try to take pictures next time where there's a little more light. We sat in a pretty dark corner so no photos for this first visit, but definitely go check them out!! Metal bar? Count me in! This very themed bar intrigued me to stop by. As soon as you walk in, you'll notice how dark it is. There are blackout curtain covering every window lol the decor is super gothic and cool. A huge bone chandelier hangs from the ceiling. We ordered one cocktail (prismatic spray), one beer (blue comet), the seitan nuggets, and fries. Food came out super hot. We've never tried seitan before and it was like a meatier tofu. Good texture. Although the sauce we got (maple mustard) felt like it was lacking something. Fries were great. So crispy! The aioli sauce was also delish. Drinks were good. The prismatic spray was very juicy and not too sweet! This bar is super cool and novel. This definitely isn't your day to day bar but it's an experience and would recommend for metal lovers read more

When I first heard that the space that used to house old Whiskey Dix and Voltage Lounge was becoming Doom Bar, and saw that artists like Doomed Future (https://www.instagram.com/doomedfuture/) and Sea of Doom (https://www.instagram.com/seaofdoom/) were contributing art to the interior I was instantly curious. Then when I heard that it was designed to cater towards casual and diehard fans of all things metal, horror, and dark art I was all kinds of sold! Seeing that its first art show was happening after my friend's holiday cookie exchange party was the perfect opportunity to check it out, and I enjoyed everything that it had to offer. Sea of Doom's stained glass windows, Doom Future's bathroom art, a freaking bone chandelier, and then some added onto the overall aesthetic of the bar. The upper balcony area played host to the art show curated by Sue Moerder (https://www.instagram.com/suemoerderskullart/), and there should be new art gallery displays semi-regularly. Instead of things like sports, it was also cool to see the televisions showing things like classic horror film trailers and scenes. While the old music venue stage was changed up to have table seating that included old church pews, its not implausible to think that a heavy metal bar near a music venue like Franklin Music Hall could have music events in the not-too-distant future. If I weren't dining with vegans I likely would have savored in sharing the communal bone marrow with the table. But Doom had an enticing menu for vegan and meat-eating diners alike. The Sichuan dry rub seitan nuggets were a fiery house of spice that I just couldn't quit. Yet somehow it also wasn't the hottest thing on the menu since the DOOM sauce is labeled as really fucking spicy!!! The libations manu included plenty of enticing cocktails, spirits wine, and a non-alcoholic Sacred Tea. But I was happy to see a draft list that featured plenty of local offerings from the likes of Attic Brewing,, Carbon Copy, and Space Cadet. It's only been open for less than a month now. Great vibes for metal fans - and good spot to pregame before a concert in Franklin Music Hall or Union Transfer which are nearby. The place is quite big with a good amount of tables. I got to take advantage of happy hour deals and thought they were good value. I had the sausage and peppers sandwich which was delicious. Cocktails were just ok in my opinion - but the beer and wine selection makes up for it. I'll be coming back! read more

I was really excited to go to this place before the show we were attending at the Franklin music hall. I dug the vibe of the place. It reminded me of some the goth and metal clubs I went to in the 1990's. I ordered the popcorn shrimps and it was pretty good. The sauce was what did it for me. So the service was great at first then it got really crowded after awhile. We finished our food and drinks. We wanted to get going to the show. We must have waited for half-hour for our waitress to get the check. We watched her atted tables upstairs and downstairs. We felt bad for her. I think for concert nights,They should double their staff if possible. I would like to give this place a second try when it's not so crowded. read more

Had high hopes for this place after seeing a few Instagram reels. Way over hyped online. The place was a ghost town on a Friday night. Server wasn't very friendly or attentive. Food was mediocre at best, basic bar food made bougie. The nachos had some unconventional topping choices that didn't really work (Alabama white sauce and pickled tomatoes), the aioli for the fries was way too tangy. Also felt that charging the designated driver for each Diet Coke was a bit ridiculous...I was starting to see why the place was so empty. A very open and dark space with some unique some unique elements like cool lights and art help set the mood. Other than the dark decor this is a pretty basic bar. Something about it reminded me of the barcade in center city- maybe the floor plan. Anyway there are two floors. First floor is spacious and has bar seating and high top tables. Looks like there's a space for live music. The 2nd level is a balcony that overlooks the first. There's a small bar and regular tables as well as a cozy couch. The walls are adorn w some art. My friend had a hot dog that looked pretty good and vegan wings- the sauce was tasty. Drink list was unremarkable but my drink was good. They played heavy metal music as promised and much kudos to being able to hear the music and still be able to hear the bar tender and the people you are with without shouting. read more

Well it's a heavy metal bar like on 7th street between spring garden and Callowhill. Dark inside , as it should be ,,, was there for the Fishtown Beer Runners,,, great crowd, great beer selection ,, all dark wood and has the metal vibe.. so I'm talking with people and then someone says there's an art show upstairs ,, so I go up these cool metal steps, and yes there is an art show,, but its totally fantastic ,, I mean its real good,,, couple of sculptures of those cow head skeletons which were great ,, then some cool photos of other gothy stuff,, I mean good quality ,, you gotta catch this art show ,, well worth it...there were 2 gothic-surrealism ;pieces that I really liked,, for sale, and prices were half decent,, did I mention the bartender was particularly nice and pleasant ,, that was good,,, so overall a really cool bar if you're into heavy metal and art, Get your ass over there. read more
