The silvertip day use area cost $5 to park. It can get very busy; you might have to park outsite day use area and walk in. Nice lake for kayaking and sup. Beware there are lots of water snakes. I have had problems with people allowing their dogs to run free. Also, the lake gets very low by August, wher you have to walk a ways down to the water. If it wasnt so convenient for me, I probably would go somewhere else.

Nevada City didn't feel like that far of a drive from Sacramento and it really was an outdoor type oasis when we visited during the summer months. It's surrounded by lush forests and gorgeous waters from the upper Tahoe areas. There's a defined parking area so you're not just pulling off the side of the road. We had taken swim shorts and dressed for the ability to free swim and jump off the rocks so it really was the best blend of hiking, nature, and swimming all in one! I would love to return here for another visit when it gets past the chill factor of winter and snow!

We were able to find parking and it was an easy and pretty walk to the pools. My only regret was not having the right shoes as the rocks can be slippery. The water is clean and clear with a lovely green color. As the water was low the grandkids were able to wade, but it can be much fuller with rushing water earlier in the year.

There were no showers at this location and only vault toilets, which I was weary of. Even so, it wasn't too bad as we were there only two nights. It got quite dark at night, especially since there was a fire restriction- no campfire. There aren't any hiking trails that I know of, but there is a reservoir close by if you want to swim or do other water activities. Be aware there is very limited cell phone coverage and there are no stores close by.

We brought jet skis and rafts and did not get to use them. Our first night went smoothly, not too chilly and our campsite was clean and dry and we loved our fire pit. However, the weather changed in the early morning the following day and it proceeded to pour down the rest of the weekend. It was 50 degrees or less with wind and we were trying to get on the lake, it's also important to note that there is a bit of a current, so visitors should be careful, especially with children. Our camp host Michael was friendly overall and helpful when we ran out of lighter fluid. I can not stress this enough; create a checklist and pack accordingly!!! There is no store except back in Foresthill, an hour and a half drive up the windy roads. Double up on the essentials like fire wood, lighter fluid, gas for coals, and hand sanitizer! I found it odd that there were some bathrooms with sinks and others without. Also, there are one toilet bathrooms and bathrooms with 2 stalls, but you have to look all over for them. I was grateful we had no wildlife run ins except for the occasional raccoon and giant spider. It's a very remote and quiet campground, I loved that we had no reception because it's forced our group to be present and enjoy the wilderness. I don't know if I would return to this campground because of the bathrooms and it's distance on windy narrow roads, but it was an experience I am glad I had!

The road to the lake is gravelly and natural. A day use permit is required. Every time I visit Wrights Lake, the beauty and natural grandeur of it all just humbles me. Darn gorgeous! The mountain range of the Sierra Nevada and Desolation Wilderness is visible from the lake. The forest of pine and fir trees line the lake's perimeter. The lake is about 40 acres with an average depth of 5 feet. No motorized vehicles are allowed. There are nearby campsites which need to be reserved. But beware of the rattlesnakes and bears. No lie. Additionally there are nearby hiking trails heads and a 4 wheeling trail.

I also saw many people with their fishing poles, and a few other Neighbor campers said there's some really good fishing spots in the area. A great experience and being there with family made it even better.
