I got my eyebrows microbladed purely by chance. I had been thinking about getting my eyebrows done for awhile but was super scared as it is "semi-permanent." I walked into Erly's Shear Beauty in South San Francisco as I usually get my haircuts there. Saw her promo and texted her. She was at the salon so I actually had a quick consultation right then and there and scheduled my appointment for a week later. She is super knowledgeable, and I actually changed my mind from ombre powder to microblading. Melody was able to explain the process, the differences in each style of eyebrows (ombre powder, microblading, blade and shade, etc.), which helped me choose microblading, as the most natural. Trust me I had a million questions and she didn't even really need to convince me. Melody was accommodating as I was running a tad late due to traffic in the AM. Procedure took about 2 hours, with drawing on my eyebrows (she is super on point and does all the measurements and shaping to your liking) and then the actual procedure. Really enjoyed my sessions with Melody! She was very knowledgeable, talked me through my concerns and worked me with to achieve the natural look I wanted. Overall, I felt Melody really cared about my outcome and did her best to deliver me fabulous brows! Chatting with her felt more like talking with a friend than it did a service so I felt super comfortable the entire time. She also used to be a makeup artist so I think it's a big plus that if I wanted something that didn't look good, she would definitely advise me against it instead of just doing it anyway for the money! Melody was also very detailed about the aftercare process and was responsive over text whenever I had any questions. For me, the process did hurt a little more than I anticipated but if that's something you're scared of, you should just ask her to leave the numbing cream on for a bit longer. The touch up session was a lot less painful since I went in knowing what to expect. The studio she works out of on Grant Ave was also super clean and gorgeous which help to mitigate any hygiene concerns I had about the process. She walked me through everything I needed to know about the procedure, care for after, and just expectations. Expectations are big when you're getting these types of procedures. Make sure you ask all the questions you have before doing it, communicate what you want, and your expectation for your brows to her, which Melody answered and did flawlessly. She also seemed just generally concerned that I knew what I was getting myself into, and knew how to take care of my brows during the healing process. Going above and beyond which was super sweet. I don't typically write reviews often, but had to for her. She was wonderful and had a very calming presence. Very much needed during a procedure that involves some pain (but totally worth it). It's been about a couple months now after my microblading procedure and I didn't even need a touch up. (Disclaimer - most people heal differently, and I tend to heal well and fast for tattoos and piercings). I am extremely happy with my brows, and get sooooo many compliments on them! More importantly, I haven't needed to fill my brows since. Melody did an extremely good job incorporating my concerns for my brows and how natural I wanted them to look, as I don't wear much make up in general. LONG OVERDUE. I had microblading done back in 2016 and absolutely hated it. Back then, there weren't many options and I didn't do my due diligence when research. This second time around, I spent too much time researching but it was all worth it at the end because I found Melody. I went to Bombshell Beauty in April 2019. After speaking with her for only a few minutes, I knew I was in good hands. Melody is very welcoming, friendly, and passionate about beauty. Normally, I fill in my brows and I prefer to have them look done all the time, so I opted for microshading. I let her know what I typically like, but let her know that I'm open to whatever variation of it would fit my face best. She didn't disappoint - she took her time designing the brows and was meticulous about measurements. Once finished the outline in brow pencil, she showed me the shape to see if I liked it before she actually began the process. If you're looking for a Permanent Makeup Artist to get amazing brows, look no further! Seriously, you won't regret it & you'll have bomb brows after she's done with you! Initially I was hesitant to get my brows done by anyone, but after sending a picture of my brows to Melody she helped me pick the blade and shade service, which was perfect for me! I have only done the first session, which quickly healed within a week, and I have yet to get a touch up, but I've already gotten so many compliments about how nice my brows look. The blade and shade service gave me exactly what I was looking for- it's perfect for everyday as it looks nicely shaped and filled in but still very natural. Melody made me feel extremely comfortable the whole time and I appreciate how detailed she was in shaping my brows by doing her measurements and making sure I loved the shape before proceeding with the actual procedure. To minimize the pain during the process she uses numbing cream and she constantly checked in with me to see if I needed more. The only thing that might be uncomfortable is that the numbing cream obviously wears off after the procedure but the pain is minimal( all I felt was a tingling sensation around my brows), all of which she warned me about. She's knowledgeable and put me at ease for all the questions I had and she gave great instructions for after care to make sure that my brows healed nicely, which they did! I have been so curious about microblading for a while but also being semipermanent a bit hesitant of doing. I did my first service and so happy and wished I discovered Melody sooner. Why I picked her: She is super knowledgeable, responsive and also has a background as a long time makeup artist so key for me and knowing she can provide the most natural look and shape. Consultation: Was done via text and sending photos. She provided details about what to expect, dos and don'ts prior to appointment, etc. (Be sure to follow to get the best results) Also there is a meme that explains the different healing stages and what to expect. Do check that out 1st service: She was very detailed and explained how the templates or drawings would look, the borders of where she would work and how they do shrink. I have heard people say the procedure is so painful but she is amazing and I felt nothing. And before I knew it, it was all done. Oh and yes, some people say they don't like the scratching sounds but that didn't bother me at all. I guess if sounds bother you, you can ask her perhaps to turn up the music. I love my brows! The initial consultation was done by texting a picture of my brows without makeup. I had no idea that there are different type of brow services available. Melody suggested that I should book her Blade and Shade service because I don't have a distinct arch and my tail is short. 2 days before my appointment, Melody emailed several documents. The documents covered pre appointment recommendations, what to expect during the appointment, and aftercare instructions. I'm glad I had these materials ahead of time. That way I could address any questions I had before my appointment. Her website is also very detailed. On the day of the appointment, Melody took her time going over the paperwork and after care instructions. She did not rush when mapping out my brows. Melody uses numbing cream that takes about 15 min to kick in. She explained thoroughly what she was going to do before she did it. She even told me that I will hear the scratching sounds that occur when she's making the hair strokes. I'm glad she prepared me for that. She numbed me throughout the procedure and checked in frequently to ask if I was ok. I only felt slight discomfort at the beginning and toward the end. Even though Melody's after care instructions included what to expect during the healing phase, I still had a question. I'm glad Melody was quick to respond and was available for reassurance. I'm due for my first touch up now. My brows look great. I only have some minor adjustments that I would like done. Melody is professional, patient, and relatable. Her prices are reasonable. I don't have any tattoos so getting semi permanent make up was going to be tough. LOOK NO MORE, Mel is the best in the game! Growing up, eyebrows were my BIGGEST insecurities. I had the classic chinese villain evil eyebrows that grow upwards at the tail. So I started over plucking and trimming until my eyebrows looked like skinny little angular sperms (remember when that used to be a look?). I'm very happy I got the Blade and Shade from Hello Bombshell Beauty. Melody did an awesome job and I love the finished product even though I still need the touch-up. I waited about a month to do a review as I was waiting for them to be fully healed. Melody is very sweet and patient. She made it as comfortable as possible and made it the best experience one could have! I am bad with change and was a little freaked out at first because when they scab over they get really dark. But that naturally occurs with any sort of tattooing. During the first process Melody will numb your eyebrows and then shave some extra hair. After shaving, she will thoroughly explain the whole process to you and go over what she recommends for your eyebrows shape and fill. The micro-blading itself is a bit painful, but like they say, beauty is pain, but it's worth it in the end. Your eyebrows will be quite dark and bold for about 7 to 10 days and then it will start scabbing. I freaked out and immediately texted Melody and she is very prompt in answering my questions and made me feel better and relaxed. Once the scabs came off, and the brows fully healed, they look amazing and natural. Just as she stressed to me that getting microblading is a process. Overall I am extremely happy with how they turned out and it is very well worth the healing process! I am very excited to go back for my first touch up, because there's nothing better than being able to walk out of the house with the fresh face and brows that are perfectly defined.
