I should probably start by saying I'm loyal to my artist. Was going to say stylist, but she's just so much more than that. I've been seeing her since I was in 8th grade... fast forward 11 years later. I stopped seeing her once I moved away for college, and all it took was me seeing one other person ONCE to say screw this, and I would fly back home to get my hair done at HG. And then I moved to Boston and it became impractical for me to keep going home, so I did find someone I liked (also triple the price, one of those fancy fancy places), but once I moved back to NJ and saw my artist for the first time in a couple of years.... oh man. She did my hair and spun my chair around, and I just thought to myself "what the hell have I been doing?" I was wasting my time and money anywhere else! I have so much confidence in my artist that sometimes I'll walk in and let her decide what we're going to do. NOT ONCE have I ever been unhappy. I now have my husband, grandmother and aunt seeing her. She is dedicated, sweet and just damn good at making her clients feel like goddesses! Now I'm sure you're wanting a name if you're reading this, and I thought about not giving it out because I don't want to share... LOL... but she deserves the praise and the business. I dare you to find worse human beings to work in a salon. I would say they could care less about their customers, but that would be a gross understatement. My mom just passed after a quick and brutal illness and we asked of they could tell us the color she used so we could try to match for the funeral and they refused to give us any information due to "liability issues". If i could give this place -5 stars I would. I had a young girl Alex. I gave her 5 try's to do my hair before I would commit or move on to another salon. She talks the whole time, she has you in the salon for 2-3 hours when you should be out in an hour in a hair. the last mistake was she thinned out my curler hair. I asked her not to do that and she told me she was putting texture in my hair when all i wanted was layers! she would let me know that is someone gave her a 10 dollar tip they were lousy customers and she wouldn't want them and would take about all her clients. she would never let me know any prices, instead she charges me for 4 highlights to thinning out my hair and put a toner on only the front 110.00!!!! I would say if you go there to not get her , but i am trying another salon that actually listens to their clients and isn't money hungry and doesn't send Instagram message why did i cancel my appointment. read more

I've been getting waxed at hello gorgeous for over 20 years. I'm pretty committed once I find an esthetician I feel comfortable with. Unfortunately, I can't see myself going back. My bikini/half leg wax went from $90 to $106!! C'mon! I know everything has gone up, but to raise prices by $16 in one shot for the same exact service is ridiculous! Ever heard of gradually increasing prices so as not to seem like the customer is completely being taken advantage of?! There was a $10 price increase like two years ago. I finally decided to treat myself to a facial at the Hello Gorgeous spa. I made the appointment this morning and was able to get in with the esthetician of my choice (Shannon, the same girl who does my eyebrows) this afternoon. Upon arrival, I only had to wait a couple minutes to be escorted to the spa area in the back of the store. Overall, I really enjoyed my facial. In addition to massaging my face with various cleansers, scrubs and lotions, Shannon also did my shoulders, hands and feet. It was so relaxing, I almost fell asleep a couple times. (In fact, I'm pretty sure it was the start of a snore that jolted me awake twice... that's hot.) There are a couple things about the actual spa that kept my review at 4 stars rather than 5. First, the music was weird. Other times I've been there, they've been playing tranquil instrumentals mixed with nature sounds. This time, it was more like elevator music versions of soft pop ballads. Before I got really relaxed, I found myself singing along in my head, imagining myself grabbing an brush to use as a microphone for my solo of The Greatest Love of All. Thankfully the massage was good enough that I stopped noticing the music. Also, although there is a lobby to the spa area, there is no special entrance. So, although I was able to walk out of my massage room into a darkened, peaceful atmosphere (greeted again by Shannon with a cup of lemon water), I had to walk through the entire busy, noisy salon to pay and exit. I've been to this salon for a haircut and felt satisfied with the cuts I've received. I just haven't been blown away by the advice or service. If I don't get my hair dried because I live nearby and just plan on showering afterwards, I still do not want to walk out of a salon with hair all over my face or neck. Courtesy would be to fully clean it off for a customer. As a result of this, I stopped going for haircuts. I felt that I could get an extra ounce of courtesy elsewhere for the same price and walk out of a salon feeling blown away by how great the haircut on me looked! I still have returned for other services, but have opted not to return for haircuts. The stylists are all polite, chatty, and nice, but just not the caliber I'm looking for and certainly not willing to go the extra mile for a customer, at least in my experience. read more

Such an awesome experience. I usually take my boys ( my son and my husband) to barber shops. But we decided they needed to try somethung new . First walking into the salon I'm blown away at how unique the salon is. So many cool things to look at an purchase while you wait , the salon was very neat and just and overall comfortable environment. We didn't have an appointment but they were so nice and accommodating. We only had to wait a short period of time before they brought them back. My son normally complains the whole time while getting his hair cut. But christine was fast and efficient. My son said he liked it more then the barber shop. So we all left happy , my son with a cool hair cut a fast and easy process, my husband some good tips on how to take care of his beautiful curly hair , and mom got some new jewellery. My bf used to go here to get his hair cut with ruben and the hair cut was $20 and he would tip him $20 because he was good and did what my bf wanted and always fit him in with out a appt. The one day i called to make a appointment for him and the lady who answered the phone said let me figure something out here give me a second, so i did and she got back on the phone and said im sorry this isnt going to work and hung up. So we will no longer go to hello gorgeous besides the girls that work in there are very snobby and ignorant and they really look like nothing so i dont know why they have attitudes. read more

One word...unprofessional. I came in with my boyfriend, I walked into the salon about 10 minutes after him bc I was walking the shopping center. When I sat down in the waiting room, the receptionists were laughing and mocking my boyfriend, apparently unaware that we were together. After about 10 minutes of mockery the one girl turned and asked if I was being helped after I had listened to them mock the man that they just brought back for a haircut. When I asked to speak to the managers they just said sorry and did nothing to correct the situation. absolutely the WORST experience i have ever had. I went for a hair trimming and left with 10 inches missing. I did not ask for any layers whats so ever but she cut my hair however she wanted to. When i went in my hair was in the middle of my back, when i left i had a thick layer of hair cut down to three inches. My layers did not blend AT ALL, one side of my head was layered and the other was not (what the manager said when i went back to complain and to fix my hair) the manager suggested cutting my hair even shorter!! absolutely ridiculous, they did not help me at all. Moral of the story, DO NOT GO TO HELLO GORGEOUS. Completely unprofessional and extremely rude. i will never go back there. read more

I loved it until my stylist left. The others really fell short and would color my hair wrong and even burnt it off. When trying to work with the other stylists I was treated rudely, snickered and mocked at. Today I was also accused of slamming Lorene in the waiting area and that was not true. I was talking with Christine (the other color manager)as she was trying on a red wig. Christine and I spoke about possibly what Nicole did different in her procedures from the mishap. Not once did I put down Lorene or Hello Gorgeous. I was told to bring a picture of what it looked like before and I did. I always tipped your girls whether it was the right color or not and even if it was a redo. I never was abusive, screamed, was hysterical even when my hair was burned off and cost me jobs. If something is not right you talk about it and fix it. I'm all about customer service and treat others the way I want to be treated. I never snickered, talked about your girls as they have to me in the chair. I sat there and took the Mean girl attitude and just smiled politely. I was then told by Lorene how this and that was said about me in the computer and to me that was even more nastiness and not too mention slanderous to my character. I even offered to go to a different Hello Gorgeous so that I didn't have to face the snickering, whispers and the mean comments they think I didn't hear. I know you hear their side, but maybe you can hear my side. I go into your salon to look Good and feel good. I'm human and have feelings. I am honest and should be able to speak up if the color is wrong. After all it is advertisement on my head and maybe you don't need that, but again I am human. Nicole was an awesome stylist and only a couple times got it wrong, but we corrected it along the way to improve our understanding of each other. I thought that's what I was doing with Lorene, but instead I was told I don't like you at the end, you can call corporate they all know about you, your in the computer as a no more redo's and you are blacklisted from all the salons here. I'm not the bad person here, just the customer that was mocked, laughed at, hair burned off, wrong hair color, missed casting calls and now treated like a disease for asking hey how can we fix this? My phone recorded all their comments about me by accident due to a butt dial to someones voicemail and when I tried calling yesterday to see how can we fix this wrong color. read more

Wanted a short haircut..had let my hair grow 6 inches so there was plenty to work with...I even brought a photo of a simple short cut which required no maintenance... I specifically said that I don't want layers, but the stylist (won't mention her name) cut layers into my hair anyway. She specifically told me, "I cut layers into your hair for movement". I really hate layers, and this will take months to grow out. I thought about it later & decided to call for my money back. The stylist lied and said that she had cut it all one length. I told her that's not true because she specifically said that she cut the layers for "movement". Long story short, they said they would send a report to corporate to ask for my money back, but I decided not to pursue it further bc I don't want anyone to get into trouble. And even if I get my money back, my hair won't re-attach itself. I would have just let it go, but I decided that since the stylist and the manager never apologized and instead tried to lie and say that she didn't cut layers that I would leave this review. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! For the price it is TOTALLY not worth it! The stylists are right out of school and should not be charging you that much money to get your hair done. I have had 2 stylists completely chop my hair unevenly. If you have never done a razor cut NOW is NOT the time to "try it out". The management is very pushy for more services and they often get appointments and stylists wrong. I have had a bleach stripe across my head from this place and a one inch hole of missing hair from here as well. I ask for someone else to fix it and they refuse saying the original stylist would fix her mistake. I have big strands of hair hanging from my head why would I go back to her????? Another stylist was NOT listening to me when I told her what I wanted. Instead she tried talking me into a very expensive Kerotin treatment!!!! I was in town for my son's wedding. I had to wait 20 min for my hair appt. It took less time to have my hair done!!! After my hair, I had to wait another 15 min. for my makeup while everyone was watching one of the artists applying Halloween makeup on a hair stylist!!! They stuck me with a makeup artist who did not know what she was doing and talked about her family all the while, trying to do my makeup. She didn't even apply eyeliner and used only clear gloss on my lips. There is no doubt in my mind, a monkey could have done a better job on my makeup. And this was for my son's wedding!!!! I wasn't too sure about this place, just figured it was some cheesy franchise with stylist who are just out of school or that they catered to older women who just wanted rollers and a blue rinse but I was WRONG! This place is awesome and offers everything from head to toe including tanning! I have a lot of colors (ombre)in my hair and it's very long! My hair came out fantastic and it was nice to see the work the other stylist were doing too, they all appeared to know their stuff. I saw Rachael, a little 20 year old girl who knows her hair color!! Super talented, well spoken and by her work ethic I would never have guessed her age!! Whether your looking for "normal colors" or the mermaid green ombre this is the place to go! Oh and best part was the price! I've never paid under 200$ at any other place for my hair and I got a base color, highlights, low lights, wash, cut, pin straight blow dry, and cute curled ends for 130$ (did I mention that my hair is to the middle of my back, and I have lots of it) read more

Ive had the pleasure of experiencing the spa at the hello gorgeous in deptford. I had heard great things about their esthetician, Shannon. So, I decided to treat myself thinking it would be like every other facial I've had. Boy was I wrong. Shannon went above and beyond any facial I ever had by massaging my hands, arms, feet, legs, shoulders, and neck along with the usual facial steps. The hot towels felt great and the experience was amazing. I highly recommend everyone try a facial with Shannon. She also does a great brow wax!! I went to this salon with high expectations due to the ratings it had of a 4.5/5. I went in and asked for an ombre and the stylist told me that my hair may not look like it did in the picture, because going lighter takes time. Mind you, I'm a red head. The stylist did my hair and when I got back to my chair after a shampoo, I didn't see much of a difference. My ends were still my color originally, but I had some blonde streaks. Turns out I received highlights. And with that being said, the highlights weren't at the root because I asked for an ombre so it started a little lower. I didn't notice in the salon how much I didn't get done and paid for until I got home. I went back in the next morning, showed the manager my hair and she said they could fix it with no problem. But there was a catch. I had to pay extra because they considered it to be a "color correction" which isn't right because I didn't get what I asked for and paid for. I paid $185.00 for my hair. $100 for half done highlights (when I asked for an ombre) $40 for an olaplex treatment, $25 for my haircut and $20 for a tip. When I spoke to the manager the very next morning in person, I said that I wouldn't mind having someone with more experience work on my hair and she gave me the nastiest look and told me that the stylist that did my hair on the previous day has been there since she was 16 years old, and is very experienced with ombre's yet I didn't receive that from her when I got my hair done. According to the stylist, she has worked there for 4 years and only 1 out of the 4 years she has been coloring and cutting. Therefore she has 1 year of experience. The manager basically told me that I had to have my original stylist to work on my hair and if I didn't want that, it would have to be a manager because it was "color correction". I agreed to come back in for an appointment later that day with my original stylist to add more blonde just incase. In the meantime I called cooperate and explained what happened and was going to receive a call from them later in the day. My stylist called me to let me know that she still had my spot to come in for more blonde application and then told me that her manager said I had to be charged an additional $65-$75 for a second application. I instantly said no, I'm not doing that and that it was too much money. I shouldn't have been getting charged at all for a mistake that THEY made. Eventually cooperate called me later in the day and said that they were willing to only charge me half for their mistake, and I turned them down. A customer who walked out of the salon and realized they didn't get what they paid for, shouldn't get charged at all. Apparently the customer is wrong at this salon and they just want to rip you off. Even the women I spoke to that was a cooperate executive said there wasn't much they could do besides what I got offered, and they always charge extra for a second application of color or lightener. So needless to say, no one helped me out in anyway. I was overcharged and received horrible customer service. I had to go to another salon, and get my hair done the way I wanted it in the first place and was charged $50. So right there I ended up spending well over $200 for a job that shouldn't have costed more than$75. I will never go back to this salon or try out any of their other locations. In my mind, I should have gotten refunded at least up to 50% of what I paid and they didn't offer anything or sound sincere in regards to my issue. If you have read this entire review, I hope you don't step foot in their salon. read more

I went with my friend yesterday for facials. It was very nice and very relaxing. When I was getting ready to leave, I was in the ladies room putting my jewelry back on, and the charm from my necklace went right down the sink drain (a beautiful charm my husband gave me). I decided to mention it to the staff, not really expecting that there would be anything they could do, but the maintenance person was called and WAS COMING RIGHT OVER! WOW! I left them my cell number so they could contact me if the plumber was able to retrieve my charm, (I'm thinking no such luck), then my friend and I went to lunch. About a half hour later I received a call! They had my charm! I was beyond happy! I went to pick it up and they had even put it in a little black jewelry bag! I loved my stylist BUT I don't understand why the water temperature fluctuates from very hot to very cold when your hair is being washed? I was the only one being washed so it couldn't be low pressure. I feel so bad for the stylists having to work under those conditions. Also, because I used to go there for an extended period due to my very sweet and talented stylist, I couldn't help but notice inconsistency in the quality of shampoo and conditioner used. Its not a quality product that for sure. I went there to treat myself, not to have poor quality products used on me. It seems to me that overall the warehouse type environment they provide leaves something to be desired to put it politely. I too have experienced unprofessional receptionist answering the phone. I am so glad I don't have to work there because I have a strong feeling that all is not well at hello gorgeous, something is fishy!!
